Berly and LA tackle Season 8's delightfully bonkers "Hunteri Hirochi," where hearts beat out of chests, people float like Wile E. Coyote, and anvils drop with cartoon precision. Castiel's adorably fumbling his new hunting career while getting adopted as "Charles" by retirement home resident Sheila.

The case: a catatonic psychic named Fred Jones whose powers are being exploited for cartoon-physics bank heists. Cue black hole tunnels, frying pan face imprints on Dean, and some surprisingly deep philosophical takes from Cass about roadrunners representing humanity's chase for divinity.

I don't know how to pronounce it, but I did get the joke because they showed it later in the episode when they were doing the Wile E. Coyote Roadrunner thing where Dean froze in the air and they did the thing and I was like, oh, that's where the title comes from. Very cute.

It was cute. I'm so dumb that I just like glanced at the title and was typing under my phone and I put it as Hunter exclamation point. So then when I opened this, I opened this to see it. I was like, oh, those were not in fact exclamation point. I'm an idiot.

It's the eighth episode of season eight and aired originally on November 28th, 2012. It opens up with a man sitting at a park by a beautiful scene. We're in Oklahoma City. It's a gorgeous little park that they're sitting at. They got like a lake or maybe it's the river. Who knows? And they're sitting there and he's waiting. And this young woman comes walking up and they're clearly very excited to see each other. Very happy. And then you start hearing this light thumping. And the woman kind of makes a face and it's like, what is deep? Do you hear that? Is that you? He goes, oh, my God, you can hear that. She's like so embarrassed. But then we start hearing cracking and he's like, ah, ah. And then he falls back onto the picnic bench, rips open his shirt, and there's this perfect heart-shaped shape pounding out of his chest. And now we're finding out, like, we see his body later, and we see where the heart-shaped thing was. It was, like, in his sternum. It cracked through his ribs. Can you imagine how bad that would have hurt?

I'm sure there was some bread in there. I hit pause and I was trying to see because there were chunks on her shirt and stuff. I was trying to figure out what all it could have been. But damn, she got a facial. She got a blood splooge facial. I love it when the opener includes a blood splooge. It's just so fun. It really sets the tone. It really does. It really does. So we got supernatural. We see Sam, Dean, and Castiel are stopped at a gas station. Sam is getting all up in baby's tank. Would you let Sam get up in your tank, LA? Oh, yeah. He was down low, getting really up in there. They're talking to Linda Tran, and they find out that Garth has her at his safe house boat. I

I don't question that one bit. It makes sense to me. While they're chit-chatting, figuring out, you know, what's going on with Kevin. What are we going to do? He's not really able to read the half of the tablet that he still has. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Just doing their little catch-up session that they're doing. Cass is leaned up against the Impala. And Dean goes walking up to him and goes, what's the word, Cass? And he goes, it's an abbreviation of my name. I thought it was really funny. And I love that Dean just kind of was like, okay. Because, I mean, he's not wrong. You are correct. Well, it turns out Castiel is not planning to go back to heaven. He has turned off Angel Radio because fuck those guys. He's going to be a hunter now.

And he's very excited about it. He tells them he could be their third wheel. And they're like, I love when they were like, that's not a good thing, Cass. And he was like, no. Sure it is. No, that's ridiculous. A third wheel gives you more stability. It's a good thing. And he tells them about the heart that got air. And he's like, that sounds like our, what did he say? Like our kind of thing. Like our kind of thing. Yeah. I was like, he's jumping right into it. It was very cute. I thought it was very, very cute. He had a lot of cute moments in this one, I think. Like, I understand that they wouldn't have been able to keep this dynamic forever, but I would have liked at least another half an episode with the three of them hunting together. Yeah. I really enjoyed it. Anyway, Sam and Dean do both agree that the Flying Heart is definitely right up their alley and they should go take this case, but they tell Cass he cannot be flitting and teleporting and bouncing around all over the place if he's going to hunt, if he's going to do a case. Yeah. And Cass was like, well, can I ride in the front seat? And Sam just, like, knocks him out of the way. I think Sam had fun kind of having a little brother. Oh, I'm sure. You know, getting to kind of bully him, like, no, and, like, push him out the way. In the back. Yeah, get in the back there. So they go see Gary's body, and Detective Glass... is their contact with the police in this episode. I liked her. I would have liked it if maybe she gave Sam a little wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

I just, I don't know. Something about that at one point. It wasn't anything she did. It was just at one point I was like, ooh, flirt with Sam a little or something. And she didn't. And I was like, oh. But nothing in the story led me to think that. I just wanted her to do it really bad. Yeah.

She wasn't in it that much. And I think it was written, was it written by Adam Glass? Oh, no, it was written by Andrew Dabb. So they're looking at the body. They see the perfect heart shape in his cavity where the heart jumped out of and the mysterious blood splooge of an organ of who knows what jumped out of. And they're trying to figure out what happened to him. And Cass is like saying his molecules are all wrong. This was not an overdose and like sniffing the body and says there was a bladder infection. But otherwise, the man was perfectly healthy. I know everything I need to know about this victim. Let's go. And Sam and Dean are like, hold on. All right. Slow your roll. Sam goes through the file and they read the statement from the witness where she talks about them meeting up. But it happens to be at a cafe attached to a motel. So they put two and two together like, OK, he's married. They were having an affair. She didn't want to out the affair. So she's made up this weird story. Too many details. Sounds rehearsed. It had to be the wife. She's a witch. Let's go interrogate her. So they show up to her house and Cass is like, I got this, guys. And she's sat at the kitchen table and she's a smart cookie. She immediately is like, what? Why the fuck is the FBI? And they were like parks because parks belong to the government. So we're here. OK. They just push right past it. I got this. He slams his hand on the table. Why did you kill your husband?

they take him and they pull him aside and they're like no Cass was like I was being bad cop and Dean was like you were being bad at everything okay just sit here observe and watch so of course Sam all cool calm and collected takes a seat looking good and starts talking to the wife but then we hear a knock knock knock hello and she just comes walking right in and it's the mistress

that was her name yeah And they're hugging and they're crying. I'm like, oh, my God, I still can't believe this happened. The wife turns and is like, what secret? What are you talking about? And Cass just goes that she was sleeping with your husband. Luckily, wifey already knew her and hubby had an agreement. They had a they had an open marriage arrangement going on. So this isn't which shit back to square one. I love how Dean was like, what did he say?

like, okay. She was getting some good old peach on the side too. You know? Yep. As long as it's consensual. Like, who cares? I mean, you guys do you, you know? They get a call from Detective Glass. Oh, no. I forgot a flashback. Getting a little tired of flashbacks. Yeah, I'll address all the flashbacks at once later on. Oh, there you go. I like that. So next we see this man. He's on top of a building, obviously distraught and a jumper. And so he puts out his foot. We got a jumper. He is not having a good time. Bless his heart. So he puts out his foot and he goes to just step forward. And like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. He stops. But this isn't the invisible stone bridge like in Indiana Jones. This is just thin air still. And he's just floating there. And he all of a sudden gets so happy. And I was like, oh, my God, like God wants me to live. It's a miracle. This is wonderful. Then he looks down. And just like in the cartoons, whenever they walk off the cliff unknowingly and they keep walking until they look down and realize the ground isn't under them anymore. And then they fall. Then he falls, which I was just like, that is so sad. I know. I felt awful for it. Like he just got his reason to keep on going. And it's like, nope, sorry, buddy. Nope. I'm like, I would have rather y'all just had him act like he was super confused and then fell rather than him acting like, oh my God, I have a new lease on life. You want me to live? And And it was so sad.

It's that special supernatural flavoring, you know, where it's like you're laughing in the episode, even though you understand that terrible things are happening. Yeah. So she calls the fellas and is like, y'all said you fucking wanted weird. There were a few witnesses who swear up and down. that our jumper floated in the air for a good 10 seconds, looked down and then fell like something straight out of a cartoon. So you're welcome, have at it. Did you see when they first cut to the guys on the roof that Sam, there was that stone ledge out there with like the little bumpy things. And then there was like the white, concrete barricade between the roof and like the stone ledge thing and did you see that sam he didn't have his foot foot on the barricade thing he had his foot over the barricade thing and like on the stone ledge go back and look he's all like oh like this yeah over the ledge showing off them long legs go back and look okay he was trying to get detective glasses attention I guess so. That's what was happening there. So now they're thinking, okay, this is fucking weird. It's cartoon. But then they realize, okay, the heart beating out of the dude's chest straight out of a cartoon. Like we might be onto something here. And then they have to explain to Cass what cartoons are. I loved when they explain it to him and he's like, and that's supposed to be funny.

And then whenever they actually show him the cartoons and he's like, oh, I get it. What do you say? Like the Roadrunner represents divinity and the coyote represents man constantly chasing it, which but but it's never going to be reached. And I'm just like, holy shit.

Wile E. Coyote. I'm never going to look at that cartoon the same. Well, Cass has turned off Angel Radio, but he has not turned off the police scanner. So while Sam and Dean are trying to be like, okay, we're ready to go to bed. What are you going to do? And Cass is like, I'll just watch you. And they're like, maybe not. Cass goes, wait a minute. Hang on, guys. I'm picking something up. I'm picking something up. There has been a robbery at a bank. And something about this robbery is being described as loony. That sounds like it's going to be us. They get there. Detective Glass right away is like, I was just about to call you. Turns out that the security guard there had been murdered by a giant anvil being dropped on him. I mean, he was I can't even say flat as a pancake like he just he had exploded.

mess. It was everywhere. There was gunk everywhere. And she explains that there has been this burglar jumping around that they've been calling him Black Hole because everywhere he hits, he leaves behind these black holes that they just look like painted circles. Well, we know if we're going with the cartoon route that these black holes are actually tunnels that you can kind of go through. Back at the motel, Castiel was reading through John's journal like he's so excited to be a good hunter. Oh, my heart. And Dean kind of starts saying, hey, you know, why don't you pop up to heaven? You know, see if they know anything. See what's going on. And I loved it whenever Cast was like, no, no. And then whenever he was, Dean, I said no. I was like, oh. I know. Poor baby. I wanted to give him a hug. And Dean went and talked to him. And he's been worried about Cass because Cass isn't talking about purgatory. Cass doesn't remember how he got out of purgatory. So I was happy that this was kind of like the opening for Dean to go and sit down and be like, okay, seriously, talk to me. Because he's been kind of nudging him, but not in a very open, I'm here for you, supportive kind of way. Yeah, more like jabbing at him about it. Yeah, or suspicion, like being suspicious. This was finally him kind of being like, Talk to me, dude. Like, what's going on? And Cass explained that he did some really shitty things on Earth whenever he was all Leviathan-possessed and all of that kind of stuff. But he did some terrible things in Heaven. And he is terrified to go and see... what what was left behind what what's happened to heaven because of what he did and then i remembered oh yeah like there was that shot where he's like yelling at the angels that were in the rafters you know in the balcony seating and it was nothing but dead angels all over the place like he slaughtered people in heaven so i guess i shouldn't say people angels Well, Sam comes back in and he's gotten all the cases from Detective Glass. Oh, you know what? Him and Detective Glass, they did leave the screen together. Dean and Cass were looking at the anvil and doing all that stuff. And then they went back to the motel. Oh, you're right. Right. So that means Sam was gone with Detective Glass for a long time.

Yay! Anyway, Sam walks in. He's got all these files. Turns out, black hole... has been hitting all these places and anywhere Black Hole has hit, the cartoony weird shit has happened within like a 50 yard radius, like really fucking close. So they're going through the files and Sam announces that the only connection is that each of the residential properties that got hit by Black Hole belonged to someone living at the Sunset Fields retirement home. They owned the homes at least at some point. So off to the retirement home they go. They meet Dr. Dwight Mahoney right away. And they meet some of the residents and some of the people who work in the retirement home. And there's a woman who's just like, Charles, you're so pretty. And she's gold. She looked great. Oh, my gosh. She had beautiful green eyes. Beautiful hair. Her hair was so gorgeous. She was beautiful. And I love that she didn't care that... Cass straight up tells her like, I'm not Charles. And it's like, I don't care. I'm going to keep calling you Charles. Shh. Yeah. Quiet. Don't you talk. You are my third husband. Okay. That's what you are. And I love that Cass gave up and just went with it. Like he just was Charles from that. Like, why not?

It was so cute. So they're talking to the residents. They're talking to orderlies. One of the orderlies points out that one of the residents is living his own world in his mind. And he says, you know, it's kind of creepy. Like they a lot of them do that where they just disappear. And it's like no one's even home. Maybe they're so bored or so sad or whatever. They're disassociating. That's what's happening. Why don't you take the man outside for a walk? Get him some sunshine. Get him in nature. Let him put some feet in the grass. He's not a great guy, but he's not the grand villain of the episode either. So they're trying to figure out what's going on. Cass is interrogating a cat because the woman said that the cat talks sometimes. Sam is looking at pictures of all the residents on a bulletin board. And happens to see Fred Jones. And he's like, what the fuck? And Dean comes walking up to tell Sam we got nothing. But it was so funny. They're like, yeah, he gave me my first beer. I think it was before I hit double digits. And Sam was like, yeah, me too. And I'm like, Fred Jones just getting children drunk? So they go and they find Fred in his room. And just like the gentleman that we had seen, he looks almost catatonic, just staring at the television, which happens to be playing Looney Tunes cartoons. Dean decides to test their theory. that Fred Jones is the cause of all of this. He picks up a big-ass heavy book and slams it up against his head. This is literally my only complaint of the episode, aside from having the jumper be excited to live before they kill them. Yeah. Which isn't really so much a complaint as much as it's a, damn, guys, like,

as well. And I know that it wouldn't necessarily made sense with the story. Cause it's not like the anvil that fell on the security guard was cartoon. It was an actual anvil. So that's why I was saying like just little stars or just like little spark, little sparkles or something. It wouldn't have made sense, but I just think it would have made it a little bit more fun. That scene just seemed to be missing just a little something. Yeah, they were like, OK, yeah, we're thinking this is it. And so they're talking about like, what do we do? Like, we can't get his attention. How are we going to figure out what's happening if we can't talk to him? And I can't remember who it was, but somebody said something about like, do we kill him? Like, I don't I don't know. What do we do? And then Dr. Mahoney and one of the orderlies comes walking in is like, um, hi, excuse me. Did I just hear you say that you're going to kill my patient? You guys get out of here. As they're walking out of the facility, they decide that Castiel should go invisible. What did Dean say? Go invisible, girl. Did he?

And stay behind and watch everything. So Cass does that. He stays behind to keep an eye on Fred Jones. Well, Cass, unfortunately, bless his heart, gets distracted. I can't blame him. I would have gotten distracted, too. oh yeah they're all out in the little uh residential area the common area that's the word i was going for all out in the common area and they're celebrating the birthday of our good judy what was her name

sheila sheila our good judy it's her birthday her hair looks great she's got her hat on she's really happy it's a giant cake oh my god yeah fucking ridiculous i thought something was gonna pop out of it because it was so big it was massive like cartoonishly big cake so i guess we're in theme here and a cartoonishly big sparkler candle thing that completely looked like a firecracker.

You know, like I got to say, guys, this wasn't all Fred's doing. You kind of set up the scenario for it. And I liked when it showed Fred that he was just using his finger to change the channels. And then he gets to the cartoon and he smiles and it happens to be a cartoon where they just lit like a stick of dynamite. And we see the fuse going down on the cartoon while we see the sparkler candle candle burning down and then we get our first cake splooge when it first splooge I thought that the residents blew up I was like I did too I was like man we're really going there today guys I was like damn Fred just murdered all his friends what the fuck but then like no it was the cake so cake splooge not a blood splooge thank god I was like yeah I would have been very sad. Between

depressing episode. Real depressing. So Sam and Dean come back to the retirement village, and Cass is explaining what happened. Sam goes to check on Fred, and Fred's gone. And that's when our good Judy Sheila is like, Charles, Charles, and calls out one of the orderlies. And it's like, she has my diamonds. Because... Sheila's house was one of the houses that got hit. And that's where I was saying, like, they hid the stuff. Now I'm remembering when they were interrogating her, they were like, you had buried the stuff like in the floorboards. I remember she grabbed Cass and was like, I'm so sorry. I didn't trust you, Charles. So Sheila, Sheila had herself a sugar baby who she didn't trust. And so she buried all her valuables under the house. And I guess she had been telling somebody about it. They confront the orderly and she says that her boyfriend gave them to her and her boyfriend turned out to be another orderly who was not working at that time. So the guys go to his apartment to interrogate him and his place has been ransacked. There is just shit everywhere. They find some of the stuff that had been stolen by Black Hole and then they see the table turned over and they see some feet poking out and they're like oh shit. They go over and it's the orderly who was being like not mean but whenever he was saying that when they go catatonic that it's kind of creepy, but they just disappear into their head. It's that guy. And he's been shot. So Cass heals him, which I thought was very nice. And I also thought it was a nice touch that the person actually reacted to being healed, like was just like, oh, like, I'm sorry, if you could feel your tissues and everything growing together immediately, something that would normally take months to do, you're going to react to that. You're going to feel that even if it's not pain, it's going to be fucking weird. And so he reacted and was like, oh, holy shit. You healed me. Thank you. And he explained that he dropped something on his foot. I can't remember. And it went flat like a pancake. And so he shook it and it went back to normal. And he was like, what the fuck? And he realized that that stuff was happening around Fred and that Dr. Mahoney is who started experimenting on Fred and started using Fred to go do all these burglaries and that he's been an accomplice the whole time. But then Dr. Mahoney started realizing that they were potentially going to get caught because the FBI agents and all this other stuff and that he's the one who started talking about killing Fred. And so the orderly started to be like, if you fucking hurt him, I'm going to the cops. Fuck you. And Dr. Mahoney shot this guy. He wasn't a good guy, but he wasn't a bad guy either. Like he understood when it was going way too far and tried to put his foot down and unfortunately got shot. So I'm happy that they saved him and that he's going to be okay. His redemption arc will be something one day. you know maybe he'll be a better advocate for his patients and stuff going forward that's what we're going to hope for for him and his girlfriend both that they're going to end up they're going to make that retirement village beautiful and take wonderful care of all their patients that are there Fred's being left in good hands that's the story I'm choosing to leave this episode with

anyway Dr. Mahoney is going on his last ride with Fred and he has decided to go hit up was it the same bank or was it a different bank I don't know. I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway, he's hitting a bank again. And so he's gotten like all these miniature black holes from Fred somehow. And he's going into all the safety deposit box, getting all this stuff. Dean has gone inside to try and stop Dr. Mahoney. Sam and Castiel find Fred. I liked it when they were walking. Cass was like, ooh. I can literally feel the power emanating from him. This is where it is. So here I'm going to pause. Oh, okay. Yeah. But at least Amelia does, because if you have to stop someone and go, people are worried we're going too fast. Are we going too fast? Then you're already thinking it. You know what I mean? She was already thinking it. Let's let's be clear. But they're moving in together. They've got a house and she has invited her dad over to see the new house and meet her new boyfriend and dad. He's getting the feeling that Sam's not OK and that they're just kind of using each other as crutches right now. And so he's worried his daughter's going to get hurt. She's in a vulnerable place. She seems to be with a dude who's also in a vulnerable, not great place. It's not looking like a wonderful situation. Has that actor been on the show playing somebody else? The dad? Yeah.

I mean, I knew Fred Jones looked familiar, but I don't know what from. The actor's name is Brian Markeson. He was in season one, episode four, Phantom Traveler. Good memory, LA. I'm shocked. He was the air traffic controller who met with Sam and Dean. He was, yeah, he's in it. He knew that that's why they were able to get the access that they had and everything. It's been a while since we watched the episode.

And I was just like, dude, that was an opening that he's like soft jabbing you now, like take it. What are you doing? Going back and forth, back and forth. And he straight up tells Sam at one point that I know what what she's running from though what are you running from and he does end up telling the dad that he lost his brother and that you know he is running that he ran yeah he does admit it to the dad that you're right and then in the flashback she gets a call and finds out that her husband dawn is still alive and let me tell y'all i don't think that it was a great marriage before Because Amelia did not seem the slightest bit happy to get that news. Like, don't get me wrong. I understand how it would be awkward that your new boyfriend and dad are in the next room and you just got this news. But if that was a super happy marriage, you would think that that news that he's alive, that your happiness from that would... overflow the awkwardness of oops sorry sam you know so i was just like oh shit well wasn't she didn't she say that she was upset with him for signing up because

Back to present time. Sam and Castiel break into this van, and they find Fred. And he's got headphones on, a cartoon in front of him, and he's just like... got his hand on his head we don't really find out exactly what these experiments were exactly how dr mahoney learned how to be able to use fred so but whatever's going on it's not a good situation not a good thing and just like in the retirement home sam can't get him to snap out of it and so he starts saying like fuck man like if we could just talk to him and castiel goes over and just grabs both of their hands and we see this bright light as sam is going wait cast and Cass takes their consciousness into Fred's consciousness. I thought this was really cool. Yeah. We go into this cartoon world. It's Wile E. Coyote world. And as soon as Fred realizes there's other people in there, it's like that world breaks. It like shatters. And then we have the static electricity. And then as they're talking to him and getting him to understand what's happening, Sam gives this huge speech where he's talking about like, I get it. I get it. I understand wanting to escape. I understand not wanting to. Acknowledge your problems and deal with your problems and trying to live a fantasy life. But you have to wake up because if you stay in this fantasy world, people are going to get hurt. And we know from the flashbacks and everything he's speaking from experience here. He doesn't know that Castiel is also kind of coming to the realization of, fuck, I'm going to have to own up to what I did. And I liked that it went to that those color blocks where it's like like doing all that as Fred is like starting to put things together and realize, oh, fuck, like he's shutting it down. Yeah. Like shit. We got it. We got to get to it. So Fred. comes out of his catatonic state. And thank goodness, because they get into the bank where there has been the fight going on between Dean and Dr. Mahoney. Dean tries to shoot him, and it does, like, the bang thing. Yeah. With the little flag. So then Dr. Mahoney pulls out a frying pan. I was like, what? And it hits Dean, and it does, like, the imprint of the face on the frying pan. So it was fun. It was a fun little fight. But whenever... Fred Jones shut everything down. Unfortunately, Dr. Mahoney had a gun as a backup. And just whenever he was about to shoot Dean, Fred shows up in the bank and is like, no, you're not going to hurt anybody else. And Fred uses his powers to have Dr. Mahoney turn the gun on himself and pull the trigger. I was like, damn, Fred. Right? I didn't think they were going to go there either, but... They did. Damn. I think this was in Fred's mind still, actually, whenever Sam and Castiel were talking to him. I cried whenever he was like the scariest thing for somebody. I'm like tearing up again right now where he was saying the scariest thing for somebody with a mind like mine. You know what the scariest thing is? Losing it. Yeah, I'm here now. I'm coherent now. I'm in control now. Like it just, oh, my heart. And so Castiel told him that there was a procedure he could do as an angel so that Fred couldn't hurt anybody so that that wouldn't happen again. And he said it would be painful and like no coming back and whatever. And Fred was just like, when do we start? And I have no idea what happened, what Cass did. They don't really explain. He's still alive. Because he's in the wheelchair in the retirement home still, but he's in a catatonic state now. He's not like zoned out staring at a TV though. He's like looking at a window and he has a small smile on his face. And Castiel says that he's listening to Ode to Joy and that he's happy. And so I guess Cas just made it to where Fred can stay in his little happy place, in his safe place, in his mind without his powers affecting those around him is what I'm guessing happened.

seems like, yeah. cuts away and it's Naomi and she's like no I know what you're thinking Castiel I know that you're wanting to come back to heaven now no you cannot come back not allowed uh-uh and he's like what the fuck and she's like you want to atone and I get that but you cannot come back right now and so I'm just sitting here being like what is happening in heaven why can't he come back like I'm guessing this Naomi person is like in charge like that since there's no archangels up there you know poor Poor Michael and Adam are still in the cage in hell. Adam Winchester is still down there. They defeated Raphael. Gabriel, we know he comes back, but he's still MIA right now. So I'm guessing Naomi is just some angel who's running heaven now. And maybe she doesn't want him to come back because angels still believe in him or something. I don't know. She's got it on lockdown. Wasn't Samandriel saying something like that earlier this season about like, yeah, like he really fucked up and did some messed up things. But we all think he's a really good guy still deep down. Oh, yeah. You know, like maybe they're hoping that he's going to come and overthrow Naomi or something. Who knows? But for whatever reason, Naomi's like, no, no, no, you can't come here. And so Cass is like, well, then what can I do? And she's like, I don't know. What do you want to do? And so we cut back to them in the retirement home and Sam and Dean are like, Cass, what? You're not going to come with us, but what were you going to do? And he said that he's going to stay there with Fred. So Sam and Dina said, okay. And that was the end of the episode. It's written by Andrew Dabb, directed by Paul Edwards. Hadn't seen that name before. So I went to check it just to make sure. And sure enough, he was a one and done director. He did this one episode for Supernatural and that was it. Huh. All right. So gore, I mean, obviously the goriest thing was the blood splooge at the beginning. It's the 64th blood splooge of the Supernatural series. I mean, there was the goriness of the security guard that had been splat on the floor, but just the fact that it was already there by the time we got there. I would say the blood splooge at the beginning was the biggest gore. Yeah, I agree. Did you adore anything about this episode?

I kind of liked the episode as a whole. I thought it was cute, like concept and everything. When the heart at the beginning started like thumping, my thought was, oh, what is this shit? I was not ready but then as it went on and I caught on to what was happening I thought that's really cute and then like some of the cast's little lines and Sheila I liked all of that

there were some really cute cutaway sequences that the I don't know if it was in the script or if it was the director that they did whenever they had seen the wife and Dean had said oh best wife ever and all of that and I can't remember what they said but Dean was going like who gives a and it like cut away Like it was something like that where it was obviously going to be like a cuss word or what the fuck or something where it was going to be a cuss word, but it cut away right before the cuss word to the next scene. There was a few cutaways in this episode that I thought were really cute. Yeah. I really enjoyed it. And I adored Fred's performance, even though we only got to see the actor once. really perform there toward the end. He made me care so much about his character in just those few scenes.

Yeah, sure. She was born in 1926, Russia. When she was 14, she joined the Red Army. And she entered its tank regiment during World War II. By the time she kind of got to be known for her abilities, she was a housewife. So she had been in the war in the Red Army, and now she's a housewife. Then during the Cold War, there were some silent black and white films that were produced where it showed her to be, it appeared that she was moving objects on this table that was in front of her without touching anything. Her just doing it with her mind. It says that these films were allegedly made under controlled conditions for Soviet authorities and caused excitement for many psychic researchers around the world. Some believed that they were representing clear evidence that there is existence of psychic phenomena, but of course they're the haters too. Skeptics. There was one test they did with her from Larry Kettelkamp. Kettle camp. Kettle camp. And there was a film of her separating broken eggs in water. So she was, like, separating the whites. The yokes. The yokes from the whites. Okay. With her mind. During this, there were, like, physical changes that happened, too. Like, heartbeat, brain waves, electromagnetic field. To ensure that, like, the external electromagnetic. You want to try that again? Yeah. Yeah, thanks. To ensure that the external electromagnetic... Third time's a charm. Come on. You got it. To ensure that the external electromagnetic impulses did not interfere, she was placed inside a metal cage. And while she was supposedly demonstrating an ability to remove a marked matchstick from a whole pile of matchsticks under a glass dome. Damn. Yeah. That's excessive. Right? She claimed that... She first noticed that she had this ability when things just kind of spontaneously would move around her when she was angry. And she thinks she felt that she inherited it from her mother. Doesn't say why, but... She got it from her mama. Yeah. And she said, like, in order for her to be able to do these things, she kind of required a period of meditation first, where she had to, like, clear her mind and thoughts. Which makes sense. And then once she was focused, she... reported that like when she was doing it, she had a sharp pain in her spine and like her eyesight would get blurry. And she also. That's what was happening when Sam would have his visions. It would show his eyesight get blurry and then it'd like go white. That's

Martin Gardner said he described her as being a pretty plump, dark eyed little charlatan. Oh, he did not like her. But yeah, so she was so for I think she was in like academic scientific research with the USSR for like the last 20 years of her life. doing that kind of stuff. That's crazy. Yeah. And she died in April of 1990 at 63. Nice. So that's the lore. That's the real world, real life from what we think was probably inspired, which we actually, LA already brought this up.
