Dean seeks a healer named Emmanuel Castiel, who turns out to be the real Castiel suffering from dissociative amnesia. Castiel regains his powers and saves Sam by transferring his hallucinations, becoming catatonic in the process. Meanwhile, Meg Masters, a former demon, stays behind to watch over Castiel. The episode concludes with Castiel's return and the resolution of Sam's hallucinations, leaving the door open for future developments.

Ellie, welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy Exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode,
LA:over drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
Berly:I'm Burleigh, and I'm a new fan of the series. I'm
LA:LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get Tipsy.
Berly:One of my angel boyfriends are back. It's true. One down. Nope, one to go. Hello, la. Hey Burley. The
LA:last episode we did, it was called out with old,
Berly:wait, I think it was the episode before this. There was a deep cut reference, and I had to google it because I couldn't remember exactly what it was. What's deep cut. A lot of people probably didn't know what this was. Oh, okay, I think it was dean who was tied up. And someone called him Penelope pit stop. And that is a 1969 cartoon from the perils of Penelope pit stop. And she, like, got tied up a lot. Like, would get tied up on the railroad tracks and like, stuff like that. I thought that was hilarious. Yeah. And then the other thing from the episode before this one that I forgot to bring up was, did you catch that line from Lucifer when he was like, the Rapier wit or the wittier rape. I was like, oh my god,
LA:yeah, not good. No, he's just annoying now.
Berly:Now we're getting ahead of ourselves. I rewound us from before last week, now we're skipping ahead to this week. But yeah, this episode, I was like, oh my god, go away. Yeah, thank God. It seems like he's gonna be gone now, because he's just annoying. But before we get into this week's episode,
LA:last week's episode was titled out with the wind, No, all right, that should be an interesting
Berly:episode. This is gonna be a great episode, guys, okay,
LA:now it is actually titled out with the oh, okay, after ballerina is found dead from dancing herself to death, which I'm glad they said that, because that's what I put in my notes. Sam and Dean look into a case and discover the ballet slippers she wore were cursed. And then they find that this one antique store was selling all these other cursed items, and they had to go around and collect them. And I thought that was the story for the show, but nope, we got leviathans in disguise as realtors, yeah? And they wanted to trap salmon Dean and get them once and for all. They just wanted to eat everybody, right? But little Georgie was like, no, just kill my boss for me. Yeah, I'll help you guys. I want
Berly:to know what she tastes like. Oh, my God, Georgie. I know Georgie. Oh, I
LA:mean, he did what he had to do. Yeah, he did. I don't blame him.
Berly:I'd like, pretty awful too. Like, I know you liked Georgie, but I would like to think that they decapitated Georgie, and it's like just George and Joyce's heads together in the safe, in that safe, just like fighting at each other. And maybe, just maybe, George's head. Got to eat Joyce's head. Yeah, okay, and he got what he wanted. I like that for George, right? I do too well. Today's episode is titled The Born Again identity. It's the 17th episode of season seven, and originally aired on March 23, 2012 episodes. Starts with Sam, and he is just running in his boots on train tracks, his boots. I just, I don't know what it is about Sam's boots, and every time they focus on them, I'm just like, what are those? But he's running and running, and he runs into some guy, and the guy goes, Hey, Dick. Dick loves a muffin, and he's just running and running and running. He turns down an alleyway where there's a drug deal going on. The girl's like, oh God, and gets out of there. And the drug dealers like, Hey, man, you get out of here with that nonsense. And Sam's like, Don't worry, no one's chasing me, because that's a normal thing to say, yeah. And then the drug dealers like, What are you on? What is going on with you? And of course, Lucifer appears, which, where, what happened to my arrogant, you know, where he's a completely different character, it seems. And I know it's not him, it's a manifestation of him, but still,
LA:yeah, he's just more. There's not the cocky arrogance, it's more just the snarkiness now, just being this asshole, snarky
Berly:and annoying and an asshole, yeah? Pay attention to me. Pay attention to me. It's almost like,
LA:childlike, yeah, yeah. I'm
Berly:like, Where was that? Like, just, I'm better than all of you, arrogance that calling us. What was it, flawed abortions I'm like, all that other stuff. Do you remember that? Do you remember? Yeah, where is that guy? I
LA:don't know, taking a back seat, I guess,
Berly:because he's getting on my nerves, me too. Like, I'm hoping that it's the end of it. But anyway, so he's, he's being annoying behind the drug dealer and the drug dealers just like, hey, like. What's going on, bro and Sam's like, I haven't slept. I haven't slept. Need rest. I need to sleep. And he's like, if you want to knock out, I can knock you out. So he's a very cordial host, kind Come with me. Let's go to my car. We'll sleep together. Don't do
LA:that at home. Do not need to be in an alleyway and go pass out in a car with them. Yeah,
Berly:he was like, I'm gonna be responsible, you know, I'm gonna sit in the driver's seat, right? You in the passenger seat. It'll be fine. Well, whatever dealer gave Sam still didn't do the trick. He was out, but not for very long. All of a sudden, he thinks a pipe has gone through the windshield and shattered the windshield. It's startled him awake. He jumps out of the car to see what's going on, and then he looks back at the car, and the windshield is fine. Drug dealer is still sleeping in the driver's seat. He's fine. So that didn't really happen. I
LA:thought at first that this whole episode was going to be just his dream while he's in the car with the dealer. Oh, you know when that happened, but not so much that
Berly:could have been interesting. Yeah, okay. Well, then he's just like, Well, that didn't work. I didn't sleep, so I'm gonna, I'm gonna do some more running. Run, run, run. Well, our boy, he runs right out into traffic and gets hit by a car. Less heart, My God, I
LA:mean, toppled over the top to the back and then landed.
Berly:Let's hope he got, like, at least a little cat nap out of that, because it was a lot of effort. Yeah, we cut to a hospital. Dean is there, and he's incredibly concerned, asking about Sam, why can't he see Sam? Why can't he see Sam? And Dr kadinski explains that Sam's had a psychotic break. Y'all like full bloom. He's locked up high security on the psychiatric floor. Dean just can't pop in and just go visit him whenever he wants. That's not how this is going to work. And he's asking Dean, is the insomnia the cause of the psychotic break, or is a symptom? Is it a symptom? Because we don't know which is which. Right now. We don't know which came first the chicken or the egg here, and that's something we have to identify before we can treat him. And the other thing the doctor said was, I've given him as much sedatives as I can safely give a man of his size, and he refuses to go down like he's still not going to sleep.
LA:Yeah, he's like, I think he said he'd just never seen anything like it. I can't imagine the level of exhaustion if I
Berly:get less than six hours of sleep in like, three days over it, right? Don't talk to me. Don't look at me. Leave me alone, you know. So he said, What was it? He said, Five, five days. Whenever the drug dealer asked him how many days he'd gone with without sleep, I think so. I think it was five,
LA:yeah, because then didn't Lucifer say something that the most anybody's ever gone is 11 days, yeah?
Berly:Well, the doctor takes Dean to go see Sam this this descriptor says that he's resting. I wouldn't describe anything that we ever saw Sam do during this episode as resting, or restful, or anything of the such, because Lucifer is there almost every single time. Just being annoying.
LA:He may be horizontal, but he's not resting right. What
Berly:is why can't Lucifer sit in a chair? He doesn't understand how chairs work. He's sitting on the desk. He's sitting on. He's just perched everywhere, like a little Gargoyle, just looking over Sam, yelling at him, making fun of Dean being concerned. So Dean is thinking, I'm gonna try and find a healer to come in here and help you, like I do. It's not like I can take you to a doctor to help fix the wall that Cass fucking broke in your brain. Like I don't know what else to do here, so I'm just like, why aren't you summoning death again? Did we leave things in a bad place with him? I don't know, but I guess that's not an option right now. Didn't
LA:we see death in one of the in the like, then little montage,
Berly:it showed him shoving Sam's soul back in. Okay? So he was in this, yeah, I'm telling him, don't scratch the wall. Okay, buddy. Scratch we yeah, we know he scratched. And then CAS was just like, I'll fix it later, Sam, and then, boom. But then he got Leviathan to possessed and, yeah, went and blew up in the water and never fixed Sam's wall, right? I wish we could have death back, you know? Yeah, that's what I thought. I thought we were going to get to see death today. But that was not who we saw. My my dean is telling him, healer, healer. And Sam's just like, No. Like, every healer we've come across ended up being fake. I mean, the last healer that we dealt with that we thought was a real deal had a Reaper on a leash, like they don't exist. You're shit out of luck. Where I'm stuck here, I don't know what else to do. And Dean's just like, No, fuck you. I'm gonna find one back at the motel. Dean is going through his own little notebook. He's got Bobby's little book journal, and he's going through everybody that Bobby has in there too. It's a phone book. Was it a little phone book? Yeah, his little journal, old school, old school phone book. Are you writing their name and their little address and the business card holders? Yeah, yeah, little plastic business card holders are all up in there. So he's got his little phone book. So he's going through here, and he's calling, and he's just like, Bobby singer's friend, I need a favor. Bobby singer's friend call me back at this number. Please, please, please, please, please, please, please. And he sets the little thing down, and he goes to get a beer out of the fridge. And then we hear like this, and Bobby's phone book gets knocked off the counter onto the floor, and a very specific business card falls out of it. And Dean's just like, oh, I guess I'll call this one. I haven't called this one yet. May as well he calls it and he talks to Mackie, and Mackie tells him that he heard about this healer named Emmanuel, and that he was healing. A bunch of people figured he'd go check it out. Went to his wife, Daphne in Colorado. This is who you have to go through in order to get to Emmanuel. Told her the deal that he was going blind, and he was like, it actually wasn't a lie. My Bright Eyes shot out. I am going blind. So went ahead and did that. Went back to my place, because she told me go home and then he would just come he would just come in. He would come to you, he's just gonna come to me, set every trap that I could think of. And I, like the team was like, yep, that's what I would do, yeah? Because we got to throw that out there, right? So we know Mackey is a good hunter, and he said he passed every test, flying colors, just coasted right through and he healed Mackey's eye. So Mackey was like, He's a real deal, man, and I love that. He was like, I wouldn't fucking call you on a maybe. I liked that line. Yeah, I liked that line. I like Mackie. I want him to come back. I don't know about taxidermy. That was the business card, or was
LA:it okay? I didn't I couldn't see. I
Berly:don't know about that Mackie, like, Yeah, are you doing taxidermy, like werewolves and stuff? Like, what's what is this business? But anyway, so Dean's real excited, and he's just like Daphne in Colorado, that's, that's what's next. And in the interim, the doctor is still trying to figure out what's going on with Sam, again, trying to solve that Riddle of is the insomnia the cause or the symptom? Because he can't get Sam to fucking talk to him, because Sam can't, literally can't tell him the truth, because he's not going to believe him. So they're kind of at a standstill here as to what to do for treatment. I
LA:mean, maybe this seems really obvious, but can you try some earplugs,
Berly:but when it's in his brain, yeah, whenever the sound is hallucinate, that's true. Is that gonna are earplugs gonna do anything? You know?
LA:I don't know. I just know that my dogs snore. To use them sometimes, and they work really
Berly:well. Oh, I take earplugs with me every time I travel. But yeah, if the if the sound is literally coming from your head, like I think I've told you that whenever I don't get good sleep consistently, or I'm really stressed out, I have exploding head syndrome, even if I wear earplugs, that's that's still going to happen. I'll still hear that loud bang that doesn't exist, and it'll still startle me out of my sleep. Yeah, so I don't know that earplugs is going to help them, right? And they can't give them more sedatives. Like, he's already told us that he's given him as much as he can safely give. That's kind of crazy. And I'm like, curious. It's just because I'm a fucking weirdo that I'm sitting here being like, Oh my God, he's so big. So like, How much was it, doctor, I am curious. I would like to know. I mean, what was the exact dosage? Dr Kaden, did you did you call in
LA:the anesthesiologist at any point? Right? Who knows,
Berly:but Lucifer is just like, oh my god, we're in a locked word together. It's just like we're in a cage. And he's like, fucking with Sam's visual hallucinations too. So he's like, making maggots and bugs and all this other stuff appear in Sam's food. So now, not only is Sam physically exhausted from not having slept, but now he's getting weaker and weaker and weaker. On top of that, like later in the episode, he can't even open a candy bar wrapper by himself because he's so weak. So he's not eating now, on top of all of this, which is just poor baby breaking my fucking heart, yeah, and there is this adorable female patient who I want to say she was probably what, like 1718,
LA:maybe, I don't know if it's the same actress, but she reminds me of a girl that was on that series, Hannibal. I haven't seen that, and I want to say something happened to her neck in that show, and I think that maybe that's why she looks familiar. But anyway, she's adorable. I loved her hair color. Yeah, her story was really sad, and I'm
Berly:happy that they gave Sam a storyline other than Lucifer, because if that was Sam's only storyline in this episode, I just, I wouldn't have done anything, but I'm just saying, can we like, fast password, like, it would have been really, yeah, yeah, not good. So I'm glad he had another storyline. But yeah, I wouldn't say she was probably late teens, early 20s. Yeah, I don't think she was like early teens. I think she was supposed to be a little older, but pretty eyes too. Yeah, she she sees Sam struggling with his food, and she's the one who starts sneaking him like protein bars and candy bars that she's stealing from the orderlies, because, for whatever reason, Lucifer only fucks with the freshly cooked food, right? Well, not the process. Bars.
LA:Well, smart of her, too. It's wrapped up, you know, she's, I think she mentioned that she noticed he wasn't eating the Yeah, she made some snarky joke about the hospital. I
Berly:think she said I noticed you had a issue with the in flight service meal or something like that. It
LA:was funny, but, yeah, I was like, good on her. Like, that's that was sweet and smart of her to think of that.
Berly:And they had a cute, cute chemistry. It was a cute dynamic. Like la said, she has bandages all over her. And at some point, Sam kind of guesses, like, those are from burns, right? Like, what the fire? And this triggers her big time. She's like, Well, fuck you. I
LA:like that. I think she tried to, like, blow it off. And he was like, well, that's a lot of bandages for nothing, right?
Berly:And whenever he said, who set the fire, that's when she was just, like, you said, there's a fire. Fuck you. And, like, runs away because he had heard it from the one guy. Oh, Hattie. I just remember him saying that, like, those are burns, like, talking about her injuries. Who's Hattie? I said, had he? That was you didn't see Hattie, good old Hattie in the episode,
LA:I thought that was the guy who came in and brought it, because he's the one that was like, oh, you know, she didn't get here, but from an accident like you did. Oh, my God,
Berly:so Dean has found Daphne. He made quick work. I don't just rolled up to Colorado. Quick work. Yeah, where are they? Do? We know where they are. We don't. They
LA:don't say. I don't think, because I feel like I would have written it down. Maybe
Berly:were they conveniently already in Colorado, because Dean got there quick right? And we know he didn't fly. That boy don't fly. That's really odd, though. I feel like every episode, they tell us where they are. Oh, well, Dean, Dean teleports to Colorado. He takes, takes the car with him, and he goes to Daphne's door, Naka, Naka, Naka. And this dude comes and answers the door, and he's like, Hey, can I help you? And he's like, yeah, like, I am here for Daphne, or I'd like to speak with a manual like, who I want some help? And then I was like, Yes, I'm Emmanuel. Daphne is resting. And he comes out on the porch and shuts the door behind him. And so Dean kind of starts to go into his sales pitch of, please come save my brother, Mr. Healer man. And he looks over in the window and happens to see that Daphne ain't resting. She's Penelope. Penelope pit stop in the living room, tied up to her armchair and trying to get twisted out of there, and has like, a gag in her mouth. Dean looks at the dude, and the dude kind of realizes Dean's figuring it out. So they get into a little bit of a tussle. His eyes went black, yeah. And then dean was like, Uh, excuse me. Crowley said that y'all are not to mess with us right now, like your boss had hands off, and he was just like, um, yeah. And what have you done for Crowley? I don't think that he's going to care if I hurt you, as long as I'm bringing him this Emmanuel guy, like he's going to be really interested in that, because y'all haven't done dick on Dick, and that's what Crowley cares about. But Dean gets his good old demon knife and takes care of this random guy before throwing him down the mini stairs to the patio. And then we see there's somebody standing at the sidewalk. Then it pans up and we get just a really nice shot of his ass. It's normally the kind of shot that they do to women. So I would like, I want to know who the director is. I'm like, thank you. Were we supposed to recognize him from his ass? Because I know that ass normally covered by a trench coat. I think this is the first time we've gotten to see that ass. I think so, yeah, yeah. So they're like, let's make a big deal about it. Let's make sure we get a really clear shot look at this ass guys. And then we can see Dean in the foreground just standing there looking shocked. Then we cut to see the beautiful, angelic face of, oh, it's Castiel, or is it? I was really confused at first. I was too back in the house. They're untying Daphne. Castiel Emanuel is over there talking to Daphne, being like, are you okay? Oh, my God, I'm so sorry that happened to you. That really sucks. Then he's thanking Dean for saving his wife, and then he's asking, So who was that dude? Because his face, I saw his real face that wasn't human. And Dean was like, yeah, there's a demon. There's demons walking all over the earth. Duh. Him and Daphne are just like, holding hands and being all affectionate toward each other. Really weird. And Dean is obviously very confused, as were LA and I, we were like, so is this somebody who just really looks a lot like Cassiel? Is this a new character? What's going on here? Dean tells Emmanuel that he needs someone to come help his brother, that it's his brother who needs help with the healing thing. And Emmanuel is like, I'll come Dean. He will come for Dean. I'll come for you, Dean. In the car. Dean is talking a little bit about what's happened to his brother, about the wall and all this other kind of stuff. And a manual is just like, this. Sounds like this. Friend was like a really bad person. He was saying that he doesn't think he's a bad person because he doesn't feel like he would be. Bad person. And I thought it was hilarious. Whenever Dean was like, so Emmanuel, like, where did you get that name from? And he was like, bouncing baby dames.com or something like that. And then, whenever he was like, so your friend's name is Cass that's a weird name. That name was not on the website, guys. So when Sam is talking to Marin and gets her to open up more about the fire and all this other kind of stuff. We find out that she was not the one who set the fire. It was her brother. Her brother had actually passed away and had been coming to see her. First it was friendly visits. But then, as we know that if go stay on Earth, they end up going vengeful. They end up getting angry. So the friendly visits got to where they were not so friendly, and now he's like, telling her to off herself so that she can come be with him, so that he's not lonely. Yeah, really, really sad. She said something about how she gets cold. And so Sam was like, oh, okay, well, no, the ghost, I'm gonna help you. Her brother was cremated, and their house was burned, and so this bracelet that she's got on is the only thing that could be keeping him here. And she said that he even had a cut or something whenever he was making the bracelet, and probably got blood on it. So Sam's like, that's it. We gotta take care of that. Can you find a lighter? Well, of course, klepto, she can go find a lighter. She's been stealing stuff this whole episode. I think she even said something about being locked up in here has really made me a good criminal. I think when
LA:she gave him one of the the candy bars or something at one time, and he was like, here, split this with me, and she didn't she say something about you're asking me to split a candy bar that I Stole. Stole for
Berly:you. Yeah, Dean and Emmanuel Castiel are in route back to the psychiatric hospital. So it's been quite a bit of a drive. I think they've driven overnight, because whenever Emmanuel Casteel and Dean were having their conversation earlier, it was clearly night, and now it's sunlight. I don't know where they were, but it was a bit of a drive. So he gunned it to get there in the first place. Dean stops at a convenience store, he goes in, he checks his phone, and he's like, getting beverages and snacks and whatnot. Then he looks up in the little surveillance mirror thing after he hears the door bell ding, because somebody else came into the store, and he sees that somebody's like, trying to rush him from behind. They're they're trying to sneak up on him. So he turns around, and he's luckily has the demon knife. I mean, that guy came at him hard. Yeah, he he really thought he was gonna get somewhere too. Yeah, he thought he was in in it. I just remember thinking, damn, yeah, came out of nowhere. Dean Gotham was a demon. Unfortunately, he broke his phone, which was a bummer. What was an even bigger bummer is that whenever he turned to the corner, there were two more demons standing there. He was just like, shit. He like, just goes to charge them, like he doesn't even try to be sneaky or anything about it. They slap that demon knife out of his hand, and they've got him down on the ground, and then one of the demons get stabbed from behind. At first. Dean is like, Oh, you, Emmanuel, you son of a bitch. I totally thought that too. I was like, okay,
LA:Emmanuel Cass has finally entered the chat. Here we go. But
Berly:no, nope, it's Meg. She's all of a sudden appeared, not expecting that at all. No, Me, neither. Me neither. That was a pleasant little surprise. She tells Dean that you know her and Crowley, like they're still on the outs, like she's still got a price on her head, so she's gonna help Dean, because knowing where Emmanuel Castiel is is gonna be beneficial to her. And so she's like, I went in on whatever this is, and Dean reluctantly agrees to take her along for the ride. Whenever she comes walking up and cast is like, her face, her face, and she's like, we come in different flavors. It's okay. I'm a friend. We go way back. And then she was like, oh, Dean, me and Dean, we go way back because I've clearly just met you. I've never met you before. It was cute. And then when they were all in the car, oh my God, I want, like,
LA:not a whole episode, but I would love to have seen more of that car ride, because it was so awkward. It was so funny. I don't know I loved it, because
Berly:you can tell Meg just wants to tell him, oh yeah. Meg just wants to be like, hey, dumbass, your Castiel the angel. Like, get to it. We need some help. Well,
LA:doesn't Emmanuel even say something about it being awkward. And then
Berly:dean was like, Meg has that effect on people. And then he turns and looks at her and goes, that must be very hard for you. She was like, it was a joke, and then he left, like, I think that might be one of the first times we've seen Cassie l laugh, where he wasn't evil or something. Back in the hospital, Sam and Marin find salt. She gets a lighter. They get in a circle. Lucifer tries to fuck it up some more, but luckily, he is not successful. They burn the bracelet. The brother comes in, does some angry shit, blows out the lights, causes a big scene. But then at the end of the day, he went up pretty quick, like, they burned up that bracelet. Yeah, real quick. And so he was gone. And then Sam told her to, like, get out of there so that she wasn't going to get in trouble for all the damage in the room. Obviously, I. Quarterly is whenever they come in, because of all the destruction and stuff that happened, they come in and sedate Sam. And whenever he comes to Dr kadinski is saying something about a procedure, and he's like, it's not a lobotomy, but there's a procedure I think we should try. And he keeps saying Sam's name, so I think he was trying to get consent or something, but Sam is like, out of it at this point. I
LA:kept putting Ward as the orderly. I could not think of the word for that, for the guy. I just, like, kept putting the ward the war. I'm like, what is the fucking name for him? So when he said that, I
Berly:was like, What is going on? Should I known? So Dean Meg and Emmanuel Castile show up at the hospital, and they see that there are a whole bunch of demons outside. Meg's like, Man, if only we had somebody who could just blast through them. Meg's had it, you know, she'd spent the whole car ride being quiet, but now she's done. She's like, we have a weapon of mass destruction right here at our fingertips. We just need to fully charge him up. We just need to tell him who he is. Yeah, I mean, she's not wrong. No, she's not. So they're arguing back and forth. And then Emmanuel Castiel finally comes around the corner. It's just like, wait, I have a feeling we know each other something, something's being sneaky. I feel like that's there's something I need to know. And they eventually disclose to him that he is, in fact, Castiel, and he feels really guilty there for a second, Castiel Emmanuel is wondering at first, like, why would y'all not tell me that I was an angel? It sounds really pleasant. And Dean is like, it's not okay. It's bloody and corrupt. And that's when Cass kind of puts it together, like, I'm Cass, I'm the person who betrayed you. Dean pops the trunk of this stolen car, right? This is like the fourth or fifth car that we've seen them go through, and he pops the trunk and pulls out castie L's trench coat. So not only did he keep the trench coat months after losing Cass but he's transferred it from car to car to car to
LA:car, bloodied up and everything. I was just like faded blood marks on it. Yeah, you didn't go get that dry cleaning, right? He wanted to keep that smell,
Berly:the blood smell. Then he keeps this to cast, because Cass is saying that he doesn't remember how to fight the demons. He doesn't remember how to do it. And Dean's just like, you'll it'll come back to you, just like, riding a bike. And then he went, I don't know how to do that either. Well, Cass, like, puts his big britches on, and he goes walking down there, just very casually calm, just goes walking up to the demons. And the demons are all looking at him like, what is happening? And then one of them goes, Hey, I know you. Cass was like, hang on. Hang on. Like, I'm trying to figure something out real quick. Just give me a second. And then he, like, just slowly puts his hand on the guy. The guy doesn't try to stop him, right?
LA:If some stranger's palm was headed toward my head, I'd be like, Well, if you're a demon
Berly:and you've recognized that this is Cassie L the angel, wouldn't you try to get out of there. Get your reflexes going. Yeah, oh my gosh. But he just smites all of them just like Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing, like a game of Whack a Mole. He just takes care of them really easily. There was one shot where it shows a demon watching him smite another demon, and he turns to run, but then cast teleports to there. So not only has he remembered how to smite, but he's remembered how to teleport. Now he's coming back, yeah. And so he catches that guy and smites him and gets rid of him too. And then he tells Dean and Meg that he he remembers everything. It all came back to him. There was like a montage of his past while he was smiting all these demons,
LA:and the Celine Dion song came to me, yeah, that's all coming back to me. Now
Berly:we've got Cass back, but they better hurry the fuck up and get up in that hospital, because unfortunately, there are more demons inside and Marcus, one of the orderlies, who has been very kind throughout the episode, missed his name too. Turns out, well, I just have it because it's typed out here on this little recap thing. I didn't write it down, and I said I didn't memorize it, but Marcus, he is suddenly wheeling Sam along. And so I was asking. I was like, wait a minute, is he even a state where he could consent to this procedure? Whatever it is, like, Wouldn't Dean have to agree to this procedure? I don't understand what's happening. They're just doing this procedure. Well, we got we got the answer to our question. It was demon, and he decided that we were doing this procedure. Don't need consent when you're a demon, right? They don't give a shit. He said. He rolls him in there, he flashes his eyes at Sam, and hooks him up. And he's like, we would normally start this on low, but for you, we're gonna turn it all the way up,
LA:and he's doing electric shock therapy on him. Puts the whole thing in his mouth so he doesn't bite his tongue break his
Berly:teeth. That was courteous, right? That was sweet. That was nice. Good job. Demon Curtis, good. Good job. Marcus. Demon, demon Marcus, but
LA:yeah, and then he puts the whole contraption on on his head, and I'm like, holy shit.
Berly:And he like, turns it up to 11. Yeah? Like, what y'all need to hurry up. I mean, that would have, I feel like that would have fucked him up. I feel like Cass, he had to have healed him on top of taking it on. I mean, yeah, because, I mean, thank goodness Cass shows up right there. But he did get it on. Like, Sam was like, oh yeah. He got it turned on. That cast, teleports in there, smites the demon, and we got to see his like, burned out eyes, like we haven't seen something like that since Pamela. I don't think, yeah, I think I feel like it's been a while. Think you're right, yeah, can't think of it. So that was pretty cool to see that Cass gets everything off, and it's just like Sam, like Sam, and he's like, You're not real. You're not real. And it's like showing, from Sam's perspective, that all he sees is Lucifer. Now it doesn't matter who's talking to him, if it's the doctor, if it's Dean, if it's Cassie L, all he sees is Lucifer. Now they get Sam back to his room, Cassie L is just like, I can't fix him. I can't heal him. Like, the wall, there's he goes to try, right? But then he's like, there's nothing left
LA:at the Wall. Did he say it's like it's an it's dust, it's
Berly:just gone, like I broke it and now it's fucked. But then he has an epiphany and says, I might not be able to fix the problem, but I should be able to shift it. And Dean's like, shift what the fuck are you talking about? And Castiel goes walking up to Sam, and he puts his hand on Sam's head, like he would do if he was smiting or whatever, and we see all this red come glowing. I like how they did. It looked, it looked really cool on Jared Padalecki, the red coming it did on Cass too. Yeah. And then coming through the arms. And then we saw it coming up through Cass's face and into his eyeballs, all this red. Mm, hmm. Whenever Cass looked over at Dean. He saw Lucifer, I guess. Like, is it, this is where I'm confused. So did he take Sam's memories from hell? Like, is that what he did? He just took Sam's memories from hell? Or did he just take the hallucination part? I'm assuming. He just took whatever psychosis or whatever is going on from his brain to his okay? Yeah. I mean, I don't I mean, who knows? I mean, we know psychosis is what caused this insomnia. What caused the psychosis was the memories from hell, because that wall got broken, so all his memories from hell were coming back, and that's when I was telling you, like, so if this psychosis is his memories from hell, is this what Lucifer did in the cage all that time? This was it kill me. I mean, just awful, but yeah, so he takes it, and Sam is fine, like Sam could see that it's Cassie l now he sees Dean. He's not seeing Lucifer anymore, but Cass is like, out of it, like catatonic,
LA:which I feel like they discuss this right after, but probably safest place for him, and I mean, it very self, self sacrificing to do that, especially since you're the one that calls it,
Berly:right? Well, I think that's why he did it. I think right, he's trying to atone, right? But
LA:then also, like, without, I don't think this was in his mind, but like, they're going to keep him in this hospital where he's safe, because a lot of people that want him,
Berly:we know Crowley's gonna want that ass, right, because he betrayed him for the Leviathan stuff and all that, yeah, betrayed him by keeping all the souls for himself and all that other shit. And we know Crowley hates the leviathans, and they're here because of Cassie gals. So yeah, I mean, you're right, like, because how are Sam and Dean gonna protect him by themselves? You know, I think Dean says something about that, yeah, yeah, we wouldn't be able to protect him. This is the safest place for him. So, I mean, it kind of is all working out. So Sam and Dean are leaving. Sam feels awful, but Dean just pointed out a lot of the stuff that LA just did, and he also says that every demon who knows that Emmanuel is Castiel is dead. And Sam's like, well, not every demon. And they're talking about how it's just like a mutually What do you say ensures our mutual destruction, or something like that? Yeah, yeah. Something talking about mutually assured destruction, yeah, so that they can, you know, we don't trust her, but at the same time, we can trust her because of that. And then we cut to Dr kadinski interviewing Meg masters for a position at the hospital. So Meg is staying behind to keep an eye on CASS Yeah, now I have a question. Meg masters was a real person. It was the blind, right? Nikki acox, because in those episodes, whenever they were researching Meg masters, they figured out, oh yeah, she's a real person. I think she, like, went to school in Ohio or something like that. Why is this? Why did the demon decide to keep that name? That's a good question. She is it because of what they said earlier, that she's sentimental. Maybe that was her favorite vessel. Maybe she's sentimental because that's the vessel she was in when she met Sam and Dean. And she likes, she just likes going by Meg. She just wants to keep the name. I never
LA:thought about that. I mean, you would think they'd just go by their vessel's name each time, but right, we know this vessel. Maybe that's when she switched into a new vessel that was just her way of letting them know, like, hey, it's still me from before.
Berly:Okay, I'll go with that. Yeah, sure, sure. We'll go with that. So this was written by Sarah. A gamble, and it was directed by Robert singer. Oh, so it was Robert singer who did the ass shot. Thank you, Mr. Singer, gave us that cast ass. He was like, stand there, make sure you're squeezing. Misha, flex those muscles. I'm gonna pan up right now. Flex. Great shot, great shot. Good job. Mr. Singer, we appreciate you. All right, Gore, think the only Gore was the eyeballs getting burned out. Yeah, yeah. I think you're right. Not a gory episode, lot of action, though,
LA:no blood. Act like, Yeah, nothing bloody or anything, really, huh? Up.
Berly:CASS is back. I mean, that's the big revelation here. So adore, let's go ahead and move on to a door. Did you adore anything about this episode?
LA:I liked Marin. I did too, yeah. I really liked, of course, Cass coming back, yeah.
Berly:Misha Collins, yeah. But I
LA:did like her. I feel like it was kind of like just like a sidebar little thing.
Berly:But like I said, it was needed, because if every time we saw Sam, it was just more of that Lucifer shit, right? I agree with you, I would have been like, skip skip ahead. It's so annoying, right? So annoying. What? Literally, where is my arrogant Where is he? Yeah, what is this childish bullshit? Why has he changed so much? Yeah. What about you? Well, Misha, yeah, obviously boyfriend number two is back, so we're halfway there. How many? How many more seasons to go? Nine. Season nine. Too bad. So we got one more season to go after this one. But yeah, Cass is back. So I'm thrilled the Cass is back. Yay. Very happy about it. And I like how they brought him back, yeah, you know. And it's like, Daphne, I get it. Girl. If I was hiking and all of a sudden that was standing in front of me, naked and wet, I would have been like, You are my husband. Yeah, let's go home, honey. I've been looking for you God. God sent you to me. It's like, overboard. It's like the movie, overboard. Yeah, I would have done the same thing. I would have totally been Kurt Russell also like you. You are my husband. Let's go home. Yeah, I will take care of God wants me to take care of you. Daphne is the most relatable character in all of a supernatural series. Oh, my God, I get it. Girl, I would have done it too. So I like Stephanie, yeah, yeah. I mean, the explanation, it was just kind of glossed over, but it's like, I'm sitting here being like, yeah, okay, I buy it. Yeah, I buy it. The cast has been alive this whole time. He didn't blow up. His clothes just got blown off, and this woman has just been keeping him to herself for the past few months. I bet she's gonna be real pissed now, oh my God. Is he gonna go home and be like, hey? Girl like, Oh my God. Are they gonna go tell her no? Is Dean gonna drive back to Colorado and be like, Hey, girls, so about your husband? I have some bad news. He's in a psych ward because she can't know where he is, because the whole point of him being safe is that nobody knows where he is except for Sam Dean and Meg,
LA:you would think she'd be calling the police like this man came, took my husband, and he hasn't been back. But this
Berly:has been their thing that they've been doing for months, is that people come and say they need to be healed, and he doesn't heals them, yeah, but he didn't come back. Oh, poor Daphne. I know that's sad. Okay. Well, anyway, yeah, Cass. I love Cass. Yeah, I love Cass. And I liked some of the special effects of this episode.
LA:I really liked the the shift that he did, the shift, yeah, really cool.
Berly:That was cool. And the lights bursting whenever the ghost brother came, because that was clearly something that, you know, they weren't going to spend too, too much time on. But I'm happy that they did that. They did something a little bit more dramatic than just the ghost flickering there and then burning away, because they couldn't drag that out any right?
LA:He was and he was mad, and he was really mad. Don't do this, Marin, I don't want to be by myself. Come on. That's sad. That's really sad. At the end of the day, you know, hopefully he moves on. What about the lore? So this first one is going to explain what was up with Sam. This article is called, can lack of sleep cause symptoms of psychosis? Getting fewer hours of sleep every now and then may not significantly impact your health, but missing sleep for more than a day could lead you to experience various physical and mental symptoms. The longer you go without sleep, the more severe your symptoms may become. Sleep deprivation. Psychosis refers to experiencing an altered perception of reality caused by a prolonged lack of sleep. Psychosis, in general, refers to an episode in which your brain perceives reality differently than other people. In the same situation, you may see, hear, smell, taste or believe something that others don't. Scientists are not sure why Lack of sleep can lead you to experience symptoms of psychosis. Your brain is surprisingly active while you sleep. It uses the time to. To perform functions essential to your well being, which I didn't know this and I find it very interesting this next part, your brain, cells, your neurons, are creating and maintaining pathways while you sleep. This function is critical for forming memories, retaining information, making decisions and concentrating. It's possible that lack of sleep deprives your brain of the opportunity to perform these vital functions. Gradually, performing regular functions may become, may become, may become increasingly difficult for your brain, and you may begin to experience symptoms of psychosis. All right, so that's what's what was up with Sam now we're going to talk about what was up with cas. What is dissociative amnesia? Dissociative amnesia is when your mind blocks out important information about yourself, causing gaps in your memory. One of the most common reasons your mind blocks out things is to protect you from unpleasant, distressing or traumatic experiences. It's not the same as simply forgetting something. In most cases, you still have the memories but can't access them. Dissociative amnesia often happens because of very traumatic experiences, including abuse, war and natural disasters. People with dissociative amnesia have an increased risk of self harm or suicidal behaviors. Dissociative amnesia is uncommon, but experts also aren't sure how uncommon it really is. Estimates range from as low as point 2% to as high as 7.3% and the American Psychiatric Association estimates that 1.8% of people experience it each year worldwide.
Berly:Wow, considering our boy cast just had that war in hell or not hell, heaven, and then he, like, killed how many of those angels and all that other stuff, right? And fucked up Sam. Fucked up Sam, yeah. I mean, yeah, I would say that was pretty traumatic for our boy, yeah, but we got him back true. So quote to close it out, was whenever they arrived at the psychiatric hospital, and Meg had decided she's had enough. All right, we're not playing this. Oh, who are you game anymore? Meg said, You're an angel.
LA:And Emmanuel says, I'm I'm sorry. Is that a flirtation?
Berly:And Meg said, No, it's a species. Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.

Berly:was fun,
LA:jerks. It always is, bitch. You.
