Berly:

Ella, welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode,

LA:

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly:

I'm Burleigh, and I'm a new fan of the series. I'm

LA:

LA, and I'm here. Long for the ride. Now let's get tipsy. Hello. I'm LA. Hey, Burley, the last episode I did, the recap you did, was rough, but I got through it.

Berly:

But it was that was the last episode.

LA:

Yep. There we go. There we go. That's all you need to know. No. So it was called Slash fiction. Sam and Dean were FBI most wanted two leviathans, cloned them and went on a killing spree. It was quite jarring to see the subject of a nationwide man, huh? Sam and Dean dropped off the grid, and then Bobby sent them to this old acquaintance, Frank Devereaux, who was a hoot,

Berly:

a hoot and a half, like a description, a quirky surveillance expert. Oh,

Unknown:

he was, I said he's a I was like, He's kooky. Yeah, you did, but yeah,

LA:

he was awesome, and he lived, yes to our knowledge, Bobby continued to search for a way to kill the leviathans, or at least to slow them down, so the real Winchesters could, you know, stop their evil doppelgangers. And Sheriff Jody played a role in that. Yeah,

Berly:

she did. Yeah. She did. Well, today's episode is called the mentalists, plural,

LA:

yes, because when you said it, at first, I was like, Oh, that show The Mentalist. I'm

Berly:

sure that's what it's like, referring to or playing off of. I think he even made a joke about The Mentalist later in the episode. I think, yeah, he said something about like, oh, that kind of mentalist you, or something. Mentalist you. It's the seventh episode of season seven. It aired on November 4, 2011 we open up the episode, we're in a seance. There's an older woman who's leading everything. I don't know. Were they a couple? I

LA:

put, I put a seance with couple question mark,

Berly:

I don't know. Never got the vibe for me. Siblings, maybe, yeah, who knows? It's a man and a woman, right? And they are wanting to talk to uncle Danny, the woman, very much a believer. Really into it, very excited, engaging in everything. Man, not so much, not at all. Skeptic, yeah, not really fallen for it. So they're trying to talk to uncle Danny, and the window opens and blend blows, and then they're doing the Ouija board, and it's moving. And she's the woman is like, oh my god, I'm not moving it. The guy's like, yeah, that's because she is so then the woman's like, Okay, time to really step up my game. And so she's talking about seeing Danny, and the woman asking, oh, is Sophie there? And the husband be like, what? Sadie? Sadie, sorry, I was sad What the fuck would you ask about Sadie? Well, for someone to react like that, obviously they're not talking about another person. So the just being good at reading cues, and so her saying, Oh, she didn't even say it was a dog. She was like, Oh, family pet, yeah, you know. So she was really careful, and she had all these gimmicks in the room that we find out about later, where she was using the all these switches to make things happen. The husband finally starts buying into it and says, hey, there were, there were these papers, there were these really important papers, and we need to know where they are. So you need to tell him, because that was my money. And he starts getting really angry. Well, then shit starts popping off, yeah. And Grandma is just like, oh, like,

LA:

she's surprised. She's Yeah. She's like, What the hell's going on this

Berly:

ain't me? Yeah, I'm not pushing no buttons. What's happening? She's getting scared. Fireplace is going crazy. Cold air,

LA:

smoke, sparking, flicking, yeah, flicking, flickering going they, they

Berly:

do on both they the flicking and the flickering, the flicking, flicking going on all over the room, flicking, fucking, flicking. Yeah, seriously, then the Ouija board, what is it? No,

LA:

but the piece, what is it called? I know it has a name. Has a name. The piece that you move about, it's

Berly:

shaped like a teardrop. So it comes to a sharp point, it starts moving, and they're looking at it, because nobody, nobody touching it. No, it starts levitating, floating up in the middle of the room, and grandma's just standing in front of the fireplace, like, oh. And then it just like, boom. Right into the throat. Oh, looks like, kind of sliced her a little bit too, yeah. It like, went in there. We got our 52nd blood splooge of the supernatural series. Quite a beginning. Quite a beginning. Like, shows her body, like, flung on the floor and like, her head's back, and you can see, like, the gash. Like, yeah,

Unknown:

I think we were both like, oh, did not see that coming. Supernatural.

Berly:

Her name is Goldie, yeah. Grandma Goldie. Grandma Goldie. Grandma Goldie, we cut to Dean. He needs a new ride. I don't know what happened to the last one. I guess after Sam was like, you get out of here. You go your own way. I'm gonna go my own way. And he had a. Bags and went walking toward the water. I guess Dean was just like, fuck this ride. Too many memories. He needs a new one. And I actually liked the dodge that he stole. Yeah, it needed a paint job. It did, but it was cute. Yeah, filthy on the inside.

LA:

Have some respect. It's like, you're breaking into this car, and you're talking about the person needing to have respect. It's

Berly:

like, respect. It's like, Have some respect for yourself. Get these dice out of here, these fuzzy dice, fuck these dice, hot wires. It turns on the radio, and the radio is like, oh, people are done, and Lilydale psychics are done. In Lily Dale just goes, All right, that's I've heard all I need to hear. Yeah, I'm on my way. That's it. On the case, he head straight to Grandma Goldies and finds out that the seance room is all hooked up. And he's just like, Okay, this is all fake. At

LA:

first, when he you see, like the little recording thing, I thought maybe it was just audio of what happened. But then he started finding all those other things. And then I was like, Oh, Grandma Goldie had some tricks with her sleeves. She

Berly:

had, like, a little sliding. What is it wasn't a dimmer? Was it a dimmer? I don't know, something on the floor, a button on the chair, button under the table. Oh, yeah. Like, the only thing that we didn't get answered was how she did the knocking. Yeah, but I'm sure she had something for that, because she those those knocks were happening on queue, and she was really proud of herself every time they happened. So, Lord knows, I don't the vent under the window. That was clever. Oh yeah, that was clever. You know, she Yeah, Dean was finding all that. So he's convinced, you know, everything here is fake, yeah, of course. So I don't know that he was even really planning to stay and work the case, yeah, after that. But he anyway, he does. He does end up working the case. He stays, yes, after checking out all this stuff, he goes to an adorable restaurant. Totally not Dean seen.

LA:

I thought it was really it was the whole, like you said, the whole town was cute. Oh

Berly:

my god. It was so adorable. I loved every I want to know where in Vancouver. This was because it was so cute. All the color everywhere, just I loved it. He pops into the restaurant and right whenever he decides, like, not my scene, I'm gonna head out. Of course, he hears Sam ordering coffee, so he goes and sits down and just starts talking,

LA:

yeah, like, no big deal. We totally separated. Haven't seen you in a week.

Berly:

I'm not even gonna ask. I'm not even gonna ask where you've been the past week and a half. But we're here, so we may as well work together. Right whenever I was about to say, wait a minute, it's been a week and a half since they were like, the FBI Most Wanted is working together really the smartest thing. I didn't even get it out of my mouth before somebody walked in and looked at them and was like, Uh, you're the you're the Winchesters. And they were like, no, no, that's not us. We get that all the time. No, we're not those psychos. We're your friendly neighborhood FBI agents pay us no mind. She comes walking up and it's like, I can tell that you're gentle and blah, blah, blah. And then some guys like, Don't mind her. She's excitable. I was like, what this guy? What was Nikolai the spoon bender. And he invites them to come by his place for, I don't know, a private bending. What was it? I don't know, but he gives Sam a business card for whatever reason, before he fucks up Sam's spoon and walks away. What'd you think I was gonna say? I

LA:

didn't know where you're going there. Before he fucks something, I was like,

Berly:

what he fucked the spoon.

LA:

He did his Sam was he was ruined my spoon, like only the second thing Sam said, I feel like in the episode, it was a real one sided conversation with Dean, just blabbing.

Berly:

Well, Sam somewhat reluctantly agrees to work the case together, and at first he was like putting his paperwork away and not sharing. And then he just changes his mind and throws his paperwork over for Dean. Over for Dean. And we find out that grandma Goldie was actually the second case, the first person. What was it? Imelda. Imelda. Imelda, she looked fabulous in her picture. Really a pity that we didn't get to see her in person, because she looked fab, but she got brained by her crystal ball. What does that mean? Just her head smashed in, yes. So, yeah. So we've got these two cases.

LA:

She had great cheekbones, too.

Berly:

She did. She looked fat. There's some great cheekbones in this episode. Impressive. Yeah, impressive. Now, Dean did say something during this conversation where he said, If you were to just ask me, I'd say that all this stuff was just like, accidental and stupid. How was it accidental for someone to get brained by their crystal ball and another person to get nearly decapitated by their how was that an accident? They got Ouija? How was that an accident? Yeah, I don't know why he said that was he just trying to play it cool in front of his brother because he was nervous. Maybe he was actually a little bit nervous because it didn't make sense some of the

LA:

stuff, he said, Yeah, well, probably, well, doesn't he later say something about how his behavior has been off anyway. And he mentioned it

Berly:

was ever since chaos. I don't know who to trust. And I was like, Haha,

LA:

you were right. I called it. And then it must be really bad, right? Longing,

Berly:

I know, for somebody from the dead, for. Ellen to come and be like, you need to talk to somebody about how bad it is. Like, that bond is strong, and he thinks it's gone, but we know something's gonna happen eventually. I mean, right? I mean, it's gotta happen this season, right? At some point, we get cash back at some point, but I don't know when, yeah, and I don't want to Google, because I don't want spoilers. Right? Anyway, la had a problem with how quickly Sam agreed to working this

LA:

case, so it was just bizarre. So you could tell he didn't want Dean to sit down with him, because, like you said, he grabbed all his paperwork, put it in his lap, didn't say a word, as Dean just chattered on. And then it's like that lady interrupted them after she leaves, he just plops his work up on the table and shoves it back over to Dean and like, maybe it's like the little sibling kind of thing, where it's like, all right, you know, like, Here you go. Like, what

Berly:

was it about the bent spoon that made him just completely cave, right? And

LA:

then, and then, it's like, you could see the tension, you could feel the tension between them throughout the episode. And I just kept thinking, like, it's bizarre how easily he was so upset about this Amy thing for him to have the level that he was so upset, to break off with him, to then, just within what two minutes, just be like, Okay, let's, let's get back together. It was just weird to

Berly:

me. Yeah, after you pointed that out, I agreed with you that I feel like it would have made a little more sense if Dean and Sam split up again at this point that Sam just said, you know, we can work the same case, but we don't have to work it together. And got up and left, and then maybe they run into each other again at the granddaughter's house, right? And, like, at that point, okay, we can kind of work together, but let's split up in Canvas. It's more faster, like, it seems like it would have been a, I agree with you after, after you pointed it out, I was like, yeah, it would have made sense for him to be a little more reluctant to just work together if this is their first time running into each other. Since it happened, yeah,

LA:

it just seemed off in comparison to how upset he was, right? I mean, they do, it is brought up, so yeah.

Berly:

But like I said, even in the story, there were opportunities for them to have split up and then ended up running back together again. So I wonder why they decided to have him just cave in and just, let's work together so quickly. Yeah, we'll

LA:

never know. That's our note.

Berly:

That's my great. That's it for this week, and that's

LA:

all you need to know about this episode. Okay,

Berly:

anywho they decide to go see Melanie golden Goldie's granddaughter, Grandma Goldie's granddaughter, because when they're going over the case, they happen to notice that the two women, the two victims, have on the same necklace, and the necklace has been left to the daughter, yeah? Well, Ken, yeah, they assume it's going to be at the next again. So they go to talk to talk to her. Turns out she doesn't have it. Grandma Goldie had a deal with the Emporium guy, and so all her shit is with him. But they do talk to the granddaughter for a little bit. Find out she's a psychic as well, but she does more energy reading, body language stuff, not so much. Let me foretell your future kind of stuff. Well, she

LA:

even kind of admits that she doesn't really believe in all that either, but that she's just really good at reading people, and it's somehow an honest living like these people.

Berly:

And then I liked Dean being like, well, I have an open mind. And I was like, window, what are you doing? Goldie. Oh, this is Goldie. Melanie. Melanie. We were

LA:

thinking the same, Yeah, same thought process throughout this with her and him. She fumbled so many times. Yeah, fumbled so many shame on you. Melanie,

Berly:

they head over to the emporium and talk to Timmy tomorrow. Oh, it's Jimmy, Jimmy. Jimmy tomorrow. I was calling him Timmy.

LA:

I noticed that, and I wrote Jimmy tomorrow, and I didn't want to see her say to me, he doesn't

Berly:

want to hand over the necklace because it's very rare, very expensive. It's totally like costume jewelry made in Taiwan. Yeah, by the time they get their hands on it, but yeah, they tell them the whole spiel, we're FBI. We're not paying for it. We're claiming it as evidence. Oh, yeah, they'll send you a check, whatever very short interaction here, I thought nothing of it. La clocked it later as to who the bad guy was gonna be. Well, and then, like, I totally even forgot this character existed, knowing,

LA:

like, what he says in the end about why he does what he does. He looked very disheveled for, like, being the guy behind the desk, or what is with me in desks when it's a you just want to be better clerk. Yeah, something.

Unknown:

I love how you just

LA:

went Yes, but no, like, Yeah, his shirt was dingy. It didn't it was like, didn't fit, right? Then he ended up, like, oversized sweater on, and he just looked kind of dirty, out of place, yeah, okay. And it's like, this is your place, and that's how you dress. This is your place of business. Yeah, okay, I

Berly:

can see that. And, uh, Jimmy does give a business card. All these, oh, my God, all these psychics got their business cards ready to go. They are throwing them at these boys. And they want to, they want to read these boys. And so, you know, Timmy lets them know. Hey, what's going on between you two? Oh, I did forget that Melanie told them whenever she was like, yeah, like, I just read injuries and body stuff. Like, you're obviously pissed and you're obviously stressed. For example, well, Timmy does like, the same thing here. Jimmy does the same thing here, Timmy, Jimmy, I was calling him Timmy tomorrow the whole time we were talking, and now it's drilled in my head where he's like, yeah. Like, you seem like you have some anger. Like, let me know if you want a private session. Yeah. Which did he even explain what he did? What was this private session going to be? That's a good question, because later we find out he's psychic by sucking the gun out of Sam's hand. So what were you going to do in your private session? We

LA:

should have paid more attention to his business card. What it said on it?

Berly:

I didn't look either at all. We know he's like, telekinetic, yeah. What are you gonna do? Fling ice cubes at me? Anyway, Sam and Dean are just like, okay, so they were thinking the necklace was a cursed object, right? Yeah, but then they see the maid in Taiwan and all this other stuff, and for whatever reason, because it was costume jewelry, they decide not screw that theory. Which I'm just like, why couldn't a piece of costume jewelry have been cursed? Oh, it totally could have been, right? I don't understand why they dismissed that theory so quickly. They're like, dead end here. Yeah, whatever. So then we cut to Mr. Bindispoon, and he dumps his cutlery drawer on his coffee table, and he's like, rubbing, rubbing the fork. Real weird, which

LA:

you were really good. You were like, Okay, it's gonna be victim. I did, or is it him?

Berly:

I was like, why are we cut to this guy? I'm like, is it? Is it's okay, killer or victim? Yeah, because I wasn't sure you called it. You said next victim, yeah. Which, I guess, yeah, that makes sense with what he was doing. But I didn't know if he was being nefarious with his cutlery or what, right? Because it was weird. I thought it was weird that he gave them the business card. You know, what's weird is I question it because he gave him a business card. I thought, okay, so he's going to come up later because he gave them his business card, they're going to need to hunt him down. And yet, that didn't even cross my mind with the store guy, and he gave them a business card too. But I didn't have the same train of thought, Yeah, it's weird,

LA:

huh? Huh? I feel like they probably did that on purpose to make him kind of like, not so interesting that you would think of him again.

Berly:

I think so. Yeah, he seemed forgettable, yeah, right. Like, whenever you brought him up, I had to think, like, what? And I was like, oh, okay, hmm. Anyway, spindy guy, oh, spoon, Mr. Spoon. Spoon, spoon. He's like, rubbing his fork, trying to really rub it. And he's really good with that thumb, you know, just like, okay, doing some stuff. And then I don't know why he was doing that. Then he just, like, bend the spoon with his hands. It wasn't even a spoon, it was a fork.

LA:

Maybe he was just trying out a new technique, trying to get it to bend just from the thumb action. I

Berly:

would not want to fight him in a thumb war. Oh, this seems like it would be really strong. Yeah, he'd get me catch it, hold it there. Oh, okay, the fork, like, just goes

LA:

right back to how it was, yeah, erect fixes itself, yeah,

Berly:

heart is a rock, okay, all three prongs, just like he was, like, that's impressive, but also really scary. Like,

LA:

what the if my spoon or fork did that, I think I'd be dropping it and running,

Berly:

which he did. He didn't run very far, though, yeah, because then he spun around, and all the cutlery was standing up on its end on the coffee table. He was just like, Oh, fuck. And I said, I think we know what the murder weapon's gonna be, yeah. I did not see it coming. Though. I thought they were all going to come up and, like, shoot at him, yeah, just like in a couple of episodes ago with the nail gun, I thought it was gonna be something like that. Again. No, that is not what happened. Mr. Spoon goes floating up, levitating into the air, and gets floated right over the coffee table with all the cutlery and then just falls. Even though it didn't seem like he was that high, I'm guessing the ghost like must have used to slammed him down, slammed them down. Didn't just drop them, because all of them went straight through them, and it was a glass coffee table, and they did a really cool undershot where it was like the blood pooling, and

Unknown:

it wasn't like, it was like nice sharp utensils. No, that had to have hurt. You know, those looked like old school, like old like the knives were rounded on the ends, right, like it had the plastic color, different colors on the handles. I didn't clock it, but I thought they were all metal, like the old school old

LA:

some of them had color on them.

Berly:

Were there spoons? Oh,

LA:

I don't know. I just saw that there was, like a yellow one and a red one.

Berly:

Imagine how much it would have hurt if there were spoons, right? And they did. And y'all, they didn't bend. He didn't use his he didn't use his trick to bend them. I mean, just a missed opportunity there. Yeah, way to not use your powers when you really needed to. Nikolai, when Sam and Dean arrive on the scene, there's a police chief there. Oh, hang on. I just remembered something from the very beginning of the episode that I thought was. Hilarious, whenever Dean turned on the radio and the radio DJ was like, Oh no, psychics are dying in Lilydale. Oh

LA:

yeah. He

Berly:

went, you'd think they would have seen that coming. Oh my god. So they're talking to the police chief, and he's saying that they are getting, like, all these calls in with tips, hot tips. And Sam's just like, Okay, well, like, what? What tips are you hearing? Like, what's the working theory here? And he says, well, the tips we're hearing is that it's either a ghost or it's a Russian ogre, yeah. And so they said, okay, like, we're gonna go the ghost route, since we threw away the cursed object? Route, yeah, while they're talking with the chief about this latest murder, Melanie, Goldie's granddaughter calls Dean and asks them to come back. Come back to her place. Come come to my house. And it turns out she wants them there because she finally listened to a voicemail message on her landline, and it was from her grandma, and she was saying that she had a vision of her death before her death happened. Turns out Nikolai, Mr. Spoon guy, was telling people he had had a vision of his death as well. So we've got a different connection now, other than the necklace, because Nikolai didn't get the necklace, so it actually wasn't the cursed object anyway. So I just need to quit bitching that they threw away the theory. So soon it wasn't the cursed necklace. Now we have this other theory. So people are potentially having visions of their death. So now they're thinking, Oh, hey, it's a death Omen,

LA:

which, if you had a vision of it the way you were going to go out, I think I would have avoided my utensils. I think I wouldn't have been playing

Berly:

Gboard, yeah, or wouldn't, yeah, wouldn't have dumped them all over. Yeah? Well, you

LA:

saw the warning. Don't victim blame. Oh, that's true. I mean, you just, you just saw it coming.

Berly:

I'll be Yeah, you literally saw what was gonna happen. Now we get, we do get to see Melanie's friends vision, yeah? So maybe it was just really choppy, and they didn't remember. Oh, it's all my cutlery. That's true. But

LA:

and then it's weird that that's the way that those two were killed. But then the friend is like the ghost is actually choking her, but

Berly:

she says she couldn't see anybody. She just remembered what it felt like when all her beds were breaking. But that's

LA:

bizarre. Why would you attack her in that manner? But then the other way,

Berly:

oh my god, throw things at them, or, like, lifting the guy up. Yeah,

LA:

I guess she was just, you know what, I gotta get my hands dirty.

Berly:

Maybe she really didn't like her. For some reason she was a racist, because, you're right, there seemed to be a lot more anger in it. And even Melanie says that she could, she enjoyed

LA:

it smiling. I didn't want that. I didn't want Camille to

Berly:

die. I didn't either. I liked her. Yeah, I liked I liked that. Whenever the boys first show up to Melanie's house, she's like, You want me to stay? Like, good friend, good friend. I liked Camille.

LA:

I like, I probably would have been like, I'll stay anyway, right? These two, there's three. There's

Berly:

two of them. You don't get them both. Okay, Melanie, I'm staying, Yeah, same which, by the way, Sam's hair, I did like that. I disagreed last episode, but it looked better. This one,

LA:

it did well, like we were saying, I think the front was shorter than was gone. Last one, yeah, now it's all melded, melding together. Something was going on with the layers. Last one where it was,

Berly:

I don't know what was going on there. He looked good, and you didn't like the sideburn. I like

LA:

this. I don't just like the sideburns. I think they just come to a the point on his cheek is a little too far

Berly:

in. I want to see. I want to stick my fingernails and his sideburns and scratchy, scratchy, scratchy. Yeah, yeah. Where was I like him? No, I want to do that to his face, not his sideburns.

LA:

Those are on his face, though. I

Berly:

don't want to lick his hair. Just kidding, you

LA:

don't want to be like a cat,

Berly:

not today. Okay, so Melanie. Melanie's like, Oh my god. Grandma had a vision, and she said the room got cold that she felt at temperature dropping. Teen was like, What? What she said that. She's like, Yeah, weirdo. She said that. And Dean's like, ghosts, by the way, we aren't with the FBI. We there's ghosts and there's weird things out there, things you wouldn't believe I was just that to me, seemed odd. I was like, Why did they just completely blow their cover all of a sudden? Yeah, especially whatever she's straight up said, oh, so, like, X Files are real. Why did y'all not just go like, yeah, yeah, we're a special, special division of FBI. But no, they were like, come and clean. We aren't agents, just a couple of guys. We're just a couple of guys here hunting ghosts. Lady, remember, I told you I had an open mind. I'm here. I meant it cold stuff. That's the tip. That's what we really need to know. I did like the whole theorizing thing about how, oh, because this is a psychic town, and there's all these crystals and crystal balls and all this. And even if half of the people here have just like, a little bit of juice, little bit of psychic juice like this, could potentially be enough energy and all this other kind of. Stuff to really have all these ghosts. So how are we gonna know who? Who was what? Yeah, who did it? I don't remember when this happens, but Camille's friend or not, Camille Melanie's friend. Camille calls Melanie. No, no, we just cut to Camille doing her reading with the person, and she's got on the accent now and different album. Because you and I, whenever we first heard her and saw her, we like, wait a minute, isn't that the girl who had on the cute blazer and jeans at Melanie's House earlier? She did not have an accent and, like, sure enough, this is just her whole shtick. And after she collects payment, is whenever she has her vision, and we actually get to see the vision. I liked the effect on the eyes. Yeah, that was really cool. And Camille calls Melanie flipping her shit about having the vision. So Sam and Dean have split up, like I was saying earlier. Sam was like, Yeah, let's split up. We Canvas the area. We'll cover more ground that way. So Sam's off doing his thing going back to the Emporium or whatever. I don't remember what he was doing. And Dean ends up going with Melanie to Camille's house. And Camille tells them what happened. First, she's really annoyed, like, why is this guy here? And Millie's like, trust me, he's gonna help the crazy man who just told you, like we're actually not FBI, we hunt ghosts. Melanie's like, Yes, I trust you. So she's like, come, come meet my friend. Come talk to my friend. And so Camille explains everything that happened where she was standing when the vision hit her, and Dean happens to notice that she has a camera. She conducts business there. It's smart. She carries a lot of cash. So they watch the footage. And as LA was saying, that's where you actually see the ghost come up to her, but this ghost, like, Isn't strangling her. This is a different ghost, right? This is cheekbones. Cheekbones. Comes up and puts her hands, like on Camille's head. It looks like to me, and she had fabulous cheekbones, in case you guys didn't know, in the footage. And Melanie says, Oh my God, I've seen those cheekbones before. I know exactly where those are. She was in a picture at the museum. So then Sam and Dean meet up at the museum. Well, they're on a tour, I think. And there are cute little stained glass windows this museum, cute little stained glass windows in so many buildings here, cute little town. I want to go. Might not be real, but I don't care. I want to go.

LA:

And the guy who was leading the tour was fabulous, yeah, with his little tie pen, yeah, he was all dressed up for his little tour. Had, like, the lapel, what is it? The tails,

Berly:

the tail, tail coat. Well, oh, boy, is giving his tour. Sam and Dean break away from the group and they go to the siblings exhibit. I thought that was funny. While they're in there, they're looking at the pictures, and tour guide shows up again and tells them that the sibling groups actually didn't tend to fare well, that there would be tension, you know, from but working the job, or maybe having been around each other their whole lives. There was this one group that was the exception, the Campbells.

LA:

When he said that, I was like, Oh, God, they're back.

Berly:

I totally thought they were somehow going to be related to Mary Campbell and Samuel Campbell, that they were gonna be the Campbells. But no, the big secret with the Campbells is that they were actually a gay couple, right? Not brothers at all, and that's why they were the exception, because they loved each other romantically, right? And it

LA:

was just the stage names. Yeah, aren't real Campbells, thank God.

Berly:

But I did think of all the names to use, right, right? Like, come on, why'd they use that one? But anyway, maybe, maybe the Campbells are real magician couple. I don't know. I didn't Google it. So they did find Kate in the picture frames. They're like cheekbones. There she is. Look at them. Miss Angelina Jolie over here in her period clothing, looking great. Who's this bitch next to her? And they're like, oh, that's Margaret, the sister the olders So Maggie, old Marge the older sister. You know, they were both gifted, but no, Kate. Kate had the charisma. Kate most. Kate was the showman. Kate was the one everybody loved. Yeah, the cheekbones. Yeah, cheekbones. Hi. After that, they were just like, oh, well, where are they buried? Okay, they lived here and died here their whole lives. Cool cemetery. Here we go. And then that's when the guy grabbed him and was just like, by the way, Ellen said, Get your

LA:

shit together. Well, he's like, did you know someone Eleanor Ellen and we both were just immediately thinking, Oh,

Berly:

what'd she say? I'm gonna kick your ass from the beyond. Yeah,

LA:

you need to talk. You need to talk to somebody about how bad it is, how bad it really is, yeah. And if you don't, I'm gonna come kick you across the anus. No, I don't know what she kick

Berly:

his ass from

LA:

time, oh, from beyond. Okay, there you go. And

Berly:

Dean just kind of went, Oh, you know what? I'm gonna take that information from Ellen from the beyond, and I'm really gonna listen to it, and I'm gonna go chase my brother down and

LA:

yell again. He's like, You know what? Hold that thought I'm right on it, yeah. Let me go take it all out on him. Yeah. Let me go give him a piece of my mind, even though I wronged him and lied to him, but he's gonna get it for

Berly:

me. So he goes and chases Sam down. It's like, hey, bitch, I killed her because you couldn't. That's what family does, bitch. So he did. End of calling her. I'm a bitch. I know that's why I'm saying it so much. He's like, I did what you couldn't do. It was the right thing to do. Okay, she was killing people, and if it was any other monster, you would have taken her down, but because you had a personal relationship with her, you couldn't I cleaned up your mess, bro,

LA:

and I would have told you eventually, yeah, I would have

Berly:

told you, but I wanted to make sure the whole shooting guns at Satan thing was done. And I just looked at LA and went, Oh my God. I totally forgot about the hallucinations. And say, Yeah, completely have forgotten about that. Oops, yeah, so the fact that they've brought it up again, I'm just like, okay, that's gonna come back up. They reminded us about that for a reason. It's not like his visions and his telekinesis stuff that just disappeared. Yeah, as soon as the demon blood stuff was gone, that's no longer a case for Sammy, even though they emphasize that the demon blood just enhanced what was already there, it's apparently not there anymore. They haven't brought it up since we're supposed to just forget about that. Got it? I can do that, no problem. But the whole Satan things come up again, yeah, and he did mention that passively at the end of the Osiris episode about, like, okay, yeah. Like, I see Satan every morning when I'm brushing my teeth, but, and so I forgot. I'm like, Oh yeah, okay. So this is still happening after they, like, yelled at each other really well, Sam didn't yell at him. He just got yelled at he took it. He just took it. Then they're like, Okay, graveyard, let's go burn some bones. They dig up Kate's grave cheekbones, because that's who they saw on the video footage. So they're thinking, this is, this is who's doing it. This is who's coming and killing people, right? So she comes blasting out of nowhere, is like, and like, shoves the shit out of Sam. Yeah, he goes flying. And then dean pulls out his lighter because they've already sprayed the fluid. All they got to do is light it up. And Sam's lighting up matches on the side is a backup plan. And then she clearly isn't trying to hurt them, but trying to warn them. She's like, No, wait, hang on.

LA:

She's like, listen to me. Yeah.

Berly:

I'm like, Why hold your horses?

LA:

She literally says, Why is no one listening to me? And you burn her. Burn her anyway. You didn't want to hear maybe what she had to

Berly:

say. Yes, you would think, what was that whole, listen to your instincts thing, Dean, that you were just bitching about with killing Amy. Maybe I'll need to slow your slow your roll and listen, yeah, because it was clear she was trying to warn y'all about something. Well, we were right. Whenever we were like, bitching, we were like, Wait a minute. Would she have you just burned her now, I will say the this ghost smoke burning effect, we haven't seen it in a little bit I feel like, am I? Was it just me? Or did they step up their game with that visual? I

LA:

think they did it well. Even when she cool, burst in and shoved Sam, it was everything like, Yeah, I think they definitely stepped it up, because it looked really cool, that whole scenario, and then even her just standing there with like, almost like the sparkle sparks around her,

Berly:

yeah, the ghost the ghost effect, look cool, which I was happy to see, because it just doesn't feel like supernatural right now. I can't put my hand, I can't put my finger on

LA:

it. You're not into this season so far. Like, yeah, like, it's

Berly:

looking more like a regular CW soap opera show to me. Like, just visually, yeah, they aren't doing as many interesting things I don't feel like and maybe I'm just missing it. Maybe I'm just becoming too desensitized, because the first, like, five seasons were amazing. But, yeah, I'm not digging these two seasons so far. I mean, season six, the mystery of it was cool and everything. But yeah, with this one, I'm just like, can we get on with it already? Like, what's, what's the point of this season? Yeah, well,

LA:

maybe we're getting there, yeah,

Berly:

we'll see. We'll see. Anyway, anyway. I did like that effect, the ghost burning effect,

LA:

was, yeah, she looked I mean, even, I mean, I don't know why, but just her coming out of nowhere, was like, damn,

Berly:

yeah, yeah. We did not see it coming. Did not see it coming. It was cool. So they burned her up. But turns out, she wasn't just a death omen. She was trying to warn these people that her sister was coming to murder them. So they're just like, Ah, shit. So we just burned the person who was warning them. So

LA:

she's the one that was giving them those visions. Trying to be like, Hey,

Berly:

this is about to happen. Do something. Yeah, you gotta.

LA:

Don't play with your utensils. Don't play the Ouija board.

Berly:

So they like, tell Melanie, like, it's good, we're all good. Everything's great. Our work is done here, no problem. And Melanie, I think she was like, at dinner with Camille or something. They were hanging out in a cafe or something. And Camille obviously still does not seem convinced, convinced or comfortable, or what have you. Yeah, and can't blame her, because it's supposed

LA:

to be happening at 2am we 2am later in this Yeah, because

Berly:

she heard the clock go off, yeah, whatever. So Melanie says, You know what? Pack up your shit. Come stay with me for a couple of days. I get it. Camille's like, thank you. So they go to Camille's house, and Camille's packing up her stuff. And she's like, let me get one more thing again, to your point, you literally know exactly what time this is going to happen. I would have made sure I was the fuck out the house before that time. Yeah? But no, Camille has one more thing she needs to go get. Well, in her defense, Melanie

LA:

did try and be like, Oh, don't worry. The guys took care of it. We're good. Yeah, trust

Berly:

me, these guys who aren't FBI agents, I trust them completely with my life, with your life, actually, Camilla, I trust them with your life. Life, everything's hunky dory, no problem.

LA:

Also, what were you girls doing it? Why were you going to Camille's at 2am to get her things? It didn't look like you were drinking at that cafe

Berly:

right middle of the night. What place was that that you were at that it was still open? Yeah. How long did Camille take to pack up her Goodness gracious, a moon in. The clock strikes too, and then lights from like outside shine on the wall, and Camille is just like, Oh, fuck. It's happening. The fireplace like bursts into flames. And sure enough, Maggie shows up, and she is going straight for Camille. Oh yeah, Melanie calls Sam, and Dean, Dean's driving. Sam's like, just give me the fucking phone. He gets on the phone that's telling Camilla, okay, telling Matt, no, Melanie. I'm getting real confused with these names now, Melanie. Melanie tells Melanie salt. So she goes to the kitchen, gets some salt. There's not a lot of salt left, so she, like, gets one good swing out of it. Ghost goes away. Salt's gone, right? They're like, okay, iron. Is there a fireplace there? So they get the fire pokers and all that kind of stuff, and they're back to back, and they're trying to take care of that. Did you see that? What it moved your your can Yeah, is it Maggie?

LA:

I'm not even kidding you, it literally went conversation on it. I know

Berly:

still. Anyway, I'll wrap this up. Camille DUNS gets fucked. Yeah, real bad guys like you can hear her bones crunching whenever it's happening, and Melanie sees the whole thing happen. Poor Melanie, she's on the ground like the ghost, like throws a dresser at her or something that pins her up against the wall so she can't move, and she's just stuck there on the ground watching her friend get murdered. It was terrible. Sam and Dean show up at the house and they're trying to comfort Melanie, and that's when they realize, okay, so it's the sister, not Kate. Kate was trying to warn us, Yeah, no shit. Why do you think Kate was like yelling at y'all like that? Yeah?

LA:

Why? She literally asked you why no one was listening to her.

Berly:

They talked to Melanie, and she explains that Maggie didn't give fuck about me. All she cared about was going for Camille. Camille, Camille, Camille, and that she enjoyed what she was doing. She smiled while she was doing it, which just how creepy is that? Yeah, oh, so the brothers go back to the cemetery to dig up old Margaret's bones, and we get some good shots of Sammy. We rewound that and watched that and watched that a few times. Like the camera was like, from down low, pointing up. She's like, Y'all know what you're doing. You know what you will have to see who the director is. I know your game. I even got down on the floor in front of the TV and was like, hey. La, look, yeah, and he's swaying that swing. He's swaying it. He's swinging that swing, that shovel down,

LA:

fierce, fierce rocking

Berly:

that coffin. Little did he know Margaret was already getting rocked elsewhere. True, that whole thing is just weird. We're definitely gonna have to talk about that when you get there anyway, bang, whoop, open up the coffin. Nothing. There she gone. Yep. They're like, oh shit. So then they go and talk to Melanie. And they're just like, hey boo, we saw the flyer. We saw who, like the main acts were. They're going through the roster, yeah. And she said, Oh my god. Camille had been asked to take the place of Oh boy. So yeah, they are going through the roster, and they're like, so who would have been next? And she's like, me,

LA:

oh no. So somebody's jelly, apparently,

Berly:

for necromancy to control this ghost. You know, we aren't going all all Hollywood Babylon this time, where Walter had, like, that amulet, or whatever it was that he used to control the ghost. Oh, yeah, the movie set. No, this person has, like, an altar and all this other stuff that they're using to leash, put the ghost on a leash and control the ghost and make them do stuff. So Sammy is just like, Okay, I need to see who, who bought this Ashwood altar that would have been needed to do this whole binding thing. So he goes and sees Jimmy tomorrow. And Jimmy is like, oh yeah. Like, let me give you the address. I'll give you the address of this person who's bought this. Here you go. Here you go, Sam, bye, see you later. Dean is helping Melanie get hunkered down, and he's like, put her in a giant salt circle. No chair, no entertainment. Dan in this just We're both just gonna stand here staring at each other in the circle. That's fine. Melanie fully trusting him. It's like, you're sure this is gonna work. Okay, you said it is. We're good. And this whole little exchange was a little weird, where she said, so the ghosts, when you burn their bones, does it hurt them? And Dean said, I don't know. Like, I've never really thought of it, but, yeah, probably. And she went good. And Dean just kind of made this, like little his eyebrows went up, and he's like, and I was like, What the fuck was that? It's like, oh, you're fucked up too. I'm

Unknown:

like, oh yeah. Yeah,

Berly:

pain. I was like, this is weird. What is that? But it cuts away so, like, whatever. I don't know if they started thinking about hurting each other. I don't know, I don't know what that was about, but I just wanted to talk about anywho Sam goes and busts into a Lamaze class, because that's the address he was given, and it's the chick from the restaurant that was like, I can tell y'all have kind energy. Do you think she thinks that after he kicked in her door and came running in there with a gun, she

LA:

seemed pretty disturbed by the surprise.

Berly:

He was like, You're not a necromancer. And she was like, this is a Lamaze class. I swear. He was like, I believe you. And then he just turned around and peaced out, and she just went thumb on her little thing, she just immediately goes back into it. I was like, Sam, is lucky that those women didn't all break their waters because they all looked very pregnant to me. So I thought that was hilarious. It was Sam, luckily, is very smart and figures out he sent me on a wild goose chase. So I know this. This is our guy. Sam goes heading back to Jimmy tomorrow's. In the meantime, Dean and Melanie are having to fight off Maggie because she's suddenly shown up there. That was a creepy shot of her in the window. Yeah. That was gorgeous. The

LA:

curtains just framed her face perfectly.

Unknown:

Oh, my God, like they panned over. And I was like, ah, yeah.

Berly:

So they are trying to fight her off, and she's doing all kinds of tricks. She's blowing the salt and all this other stuff. I guessed it out the window, she's doing everything Joe did. I'm like, How'd you how'd you become which maybe, maybe Jimmy tomorrow told her, like, Oh, these are the tricks. Sam gets in and has a little fight with Jimmy. And Jimmy says the whole reason he's doing this is because he's actually gifted. He's actually psychic and telekinetic, but everybody else is, you know, cheered and makes all the money, and he's they can put on a show. He can't. He's not making money, and he's actually talented, and I'm just like, oh yeah. Like, maybe put an outfit together. Hire a specialist to help you with your marketing. Yeah, stop wearing your same dingy shirt. There are other solutions here than murder, Jimmy, yeah, get it together. Practice.

LA:

Makes perfect, buddy. Don't be so dramatic. Yeah, mine like you had to resort to killing your competition drastic of measures really take there.

Berly:

Jimmy demonstrates he's psychic by like, whipping the gun out of Sam's hand, like I said. So that's where I was going, like, so what was his private session gonna be? Like? I don't I don't get it anyway. Doesn't matter. Sam figures out the rest of Kate's not Kate. The rest of Maggie's bones are in the bedroom. Her skull was out there on the altar, yeah. The rest of her bones are in the bedroom, right in his bed, yeah. So not only that, but the other thing is that Jimmy was saying that Maggie likes the leash. She likes being bound to him. I don't know if they were trying to insinuate that there was something other than necromancy going on here, but that's what it seems like, yeah.

LA:

When he's like, we're the same, yeah, she and I. She likes it. We have a bond.

Berly:

She likes it, yeah. And then her bones are all in his bed, under his under his covers. That was a little much for me,

LA:

I don't make you think about it.

Berly:

Anyway, Sam lights them on fire, and we get another really cool special effect with Maggie burning up. Mm, hmm. I liked what the fire did like. Did you see how it did on the ceiling? Yeah, it was really cool. I liked it a lot. Bye, bye, Maggie. Thank goodness. Oh, and Sam. Sam murdered Jimmy. I forgot that part. Oh yeah, he shot him. Shot him down to get to the bedroom. Poor guy. Really well, just,

LA:

I mean, not for being a murderer, but just sadly that he could, didn't think he could do what they did when it's like, yeah, you could have buddy, just put a little more effort in. Yeah, you

Berly:

just needed a consultant. Not murder. Come on, Jimmy, goodness, anywho. The next day, Sam and Dean are at breakfast, and Dean threatens the waiter that he better not affirm him, which we'll talk about when we get to the quote. And Melanie comes in, and Sam is just like, oh, like, let me, let you two have a moment. And I was like, I didn't realize there was, like, a thing going on with him. I mean, there was the weird thing where she was like, I hope it hurts like there was that whole moment that I didn't realize they were supposed to have been flirting this entire episode, yeah, and that's whenever I was like, that's the case. She really fumbled a lot. There were a lot of openings where she could even at the end, whenever she's like, Oh, let me tell you your future and like, turn his palm over. I was like, his future should be inside you. Like, your future. Is you waking up in my bed tomorrow? Like, let's go like so many opportunities, but she goes, Oh, too, too blurry to tell try again tomorrow, or something like that. I was like, oh, no,

LA:

try now.

Berly:

Hmm. But she does thank him for saving her life, and says that he and Sam seem to be doing better. And sure enough, whenever Dean and Sam talk, Sam does say, You know what, okay, if, if it had hadn't been Amy, if it had been any other monster, yeah, you're right, I would have killed her, but there's still something else going on with you, dude. What's going on? And that's when Dean kind of says, you know, ever since CASS I don't know who to trust anymore. I'm not sleeping. I'm not this. And he tries to say that he it was the guilt weighing on him that he doesn't like lying. But I feel like this isn't resolved. I feel like there's still going to be something more going on with Dean. Yeah, remains to be seen. What's going on with Dean? That was the mentalists written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker, huh? And directed by Mike roll. Why do I know Mike roll? What else did he direct? Oh, I did compare something from this episode to the Linda Blair episode. Oh, I can't remember what it was, but that episode was the usual suspects, and that was directed by Mike roll, I can't remember, Oh, the death omen. And then Folsom Prison Blues. He did bedtime stories with the mystery Toad on the head of a pin, the monster at the end of this book. That was one of your favorite episodes from Season Four, My Bloody Valentine appointment in Samara. And Then There Were None. Okay, okay, so we he has done some good episodes. We like his work. Good job. Mike Gore, we had our blood splooges At the beginning of the episode with grandma Goldie, the dude on the spoons. Was gory. The blood, oh

LA:

yeah, that

Berly:

was pretty gory. It just wasn't as shocking as the first whenever you start out the episode with the goriest thing of the episode. It's kind of hard to remember any of the other Gore that happened. Yeah, you know, yeah. Like, we've got the shock and, like, our oh shit at the beginning, and then, like, the blood. Did you adore anything about this episode? Well,

LA:

I liked the whole medium theme and just the seance and all that kind of stuff. The town was adorable. Yeah, the town definitely all the color and stuff that was really cute, yeah, but yeah, I mean, I guess that's kind of it for this one.

Berly:

I loved the location, yeah.

LA:

What about you, Sam's hair that is nice.

Berly:

The coffin with the the shovel? Mm, hmm, yeah. Well, take us into the lore.

LA:

Well, this is an article written by Ted hunt, and it is titled adventures and day trips. Casa Daga. Casa dega, which is it? Okay? Psychic capital of the world, which seemed like Lily Dale was right in the episode. And 1875 a medium named George Colby was conducting a trance seance in Iowa, Iowa, huh, when he was contacted by a Native American spirit guide named Seneca Seneca Crane, who is that? It's from Hunger Games, I

Berly:

was about to say that sounds familiar? Yeah, I know that name. Okay, not

LA:

that one. Seneca told him to travel to Wisconsin and meet up with another spiritualist, and together, they would be given further instruction on their mission. Once together, Seneca told the two mediums to travel to Florida and establish a spiritualist camp on a site of seven hills and surrounded by lakes. Old article, not ones to argue with a spirit. They took a train to Jacksonville, then a riverboat down the St John's River to Blue Springs. From there, they traveled by foot through the dense tropical forest, looking for the promised land. It took several months of exploring, but eventually they found the area of high bluffs and lakes, just as it had been described by Seneca. The two mediums soon separated over differences of opinion. Colby bought 74 acres near Lake Helen, and for the next 18 years operated a dairy farm for reasons unknown. He did not do what he was told by Seneca and organized that camp.

Berly:

Yeah, I wonder who the other medium was, right? Where'd they go? Who's this mystery media it all he talks about Colby. Oh, well, anywho Colby was the crazy although Colby

LA:

continued to correspond with the northern spiritualists, the idea of a southern camp was placed on the back burner for almost two decades, and then in 1894 spiritualists from New York decided to send a delegation to Florida to look at a different location than Colbys for their summer retreat. After inspecting another possible site in Florida, their camp became convinced that colby's location would fit their needs best the southern Casa dega spiritualist camp was established in 1894 in 1895 Colby deeded the camp 35 acres of his What did he have? 74 acres, yeah, that's a good chunk. It's like, almost half generous.

Berly:

So he didn't start his own camp, right? He just like, least, yeah.

LA:

He's like, here, you guys do your do your thing on my land.

Berly:

That's what was supposed to happen here. Happen here. That's what Seneca told me. Was supposed to happen here, yeah, but I'm gonna outsource it. You do, right? You

LA:

do all the work you do. Thank you. The camp was an immediate success.

Berly:

Oh, nice. Well, yeah, they brought their people with them, right?

LA:

Or they're called. The first meeting lasted three days and attracted more than 100 people who came to see famous mediums and demonstrations of every psychic kind. By 1898, cottages, a lodging Hall, library and dancing pavilion had all been built inside the camp. Casa dega was the place to be any time of the year. In the 1920s a church and hotel were built. At that time, more than 40 mediums called Casa dega their permanent home now, from the 1930s through the 50s, numerous articles were written about famous mediums coming to Casa dega to perform their physical nope, psychic ability before large audiences. There were spirits being materialized. Mediums going into trances and speaking in tongues. Seances were being conducted on a regular basis. Man to be a fly on the wall. Right, the hotel was booked for months on end, and also the other hotels located miles from Casa dega, the town even had its own newspaper listing current with current and upcoming events and demonstrations. Casa dega had become the psychic capital of the world. Nowadays, there are 13 spiritualist camps throughout us, but only Casa dega can claim to be the psychic capital of the world. Noted. Let's go and now the decline. Beginning in the 1960s Casa Degas popularity began a slow decline. That's strange, doesn't even feel like your

Berly:

psychedelics were going on. Then maybe it was the competition. Yeah,

LA:

the more popular mediums were growing older and dying, and interest was fake. Gosh, that's depressing. Jesus, damn Ted, certain religious groups called Casa dega the work of the devil and condemned its spiritualist practices. Winter visitors tapered off. It is speculated that media coverage of a fraudulent of fraudulent practices of a few deceptive so called mediums sparked the decline like Melanie Yeah, but refused to give into the negative outside pressure and maintained its reputation claim its largest spiritualist community in the southern state. Oh, now it's just in the state, not in the world. Oh, oh. 1991 the camp was designated a historic district and placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the small community is alive and well. The spiritualist camp consists of approximately 57 acres. Oh, they got more of his land, huh? 57 acres, maybe not necessarily

Berly:

his. I don't think Colby is around right.

LA:

57 acres with 55 Victorian houses with approximately 100 year round residents. Oh, I want to go same. Those who reside here have chosen to live in a community of spiritual people, where they can worship and work in harmony with their beliefs. Many of them are certified mediums and healers who offer their services from their homes or apartments. Each month, hundreds of visitors visit the camp hoping to communicate with a deceased relative. It's a regular stop for tour busses carrying passengers who can have lunch at the historic Casa dega hotel and listen to intriguing stories about the camp's history and residents. Visitors can shop at the bookstore, bookstore, the bookstore, explore the camp and perhaps Schedule A reading from a local medium classes and walking tours are offered. Seances are conducted on a regular basis in certain buildings and homes. The hotel was built as a boarding house for the camp in 1901 but it burned down in 1925 but and was rebuilt in 1927 it's now privately owned, and while today is not part of the camp, it does offer medium services while you're at the front desk. If you're interested in such things that might go bump in the night, be sure to ask the clerk about the hotel's friendly spirit.

Berly:

Arthur, cute.

LA:

We should go. I want to try it. Yeah, check it out, mainly just to see those houses. No,

Berly:

I'd be like, what up? Arthur,

LA:

yeah,

Berly:

let's hang how friendly Are you? Quit. To close it out, when Dean joined up with Sam at the restaurant and sat down at the table. A waiter walked up and said, What can I get for you?

LA:

Indeed, said, pancake side of pig, coffee, black. Waiter

Berly:

said, fantastic. You are virile manifestation, manifestation of the divine.

LA:

Dean said, What the hell did he say?

Berly:
