Berly:

Ella, welcome to denim wrapped nightmares, Tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode,

LA:

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore the gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly:

I'm Burleigh, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA:

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy.

Berly:

Hello, LA, hey, Burley, well, egg on my face.

LA:

What's that

Berly:

for? My whole theory about who the hell it's going to be and all of that that got blown out of the water real quick, literally, right before we dig into today's episode. However, why don't you remind our listeners where we were last episode?

LA:

All right? Well, the last episode was titled, meet the new boss. And Castiel didn't kill Sam Dean and Bobby, but he did warn them not to interfere in his business assuming his new role as God, Castiel, set out to right some of the wrongs in the world as he saw them, Dean decides they should bind death and order him to stop Castiel, but the former angel is one step ahead of them, leaving Dean to face A very angry death, but he gave him pickle chips, right? And meanwhile, Sam struggled to deal with the broken wall in his head and his hallucinations, you know, and I

Berly:

wouldn't even see death was angry. He just was disappointed. That's what

LA:

I was thinking, too. I was like, he was more like, irritated than anything. I say, like, too fucking much,

Berly:

you know, I warned you, and you didn't do shit with it, and now here I am, and you're trying to make me take care of your shit. Like, no, oh, yeah,

LA:

wasn't you didn't even say something about start cleaning up your own messes, which I feel like that has been said to them before by others,

Berly:

right? You just started making friends with supernatural entities, like just a couple of years ago, and you're already expecting them to help you all the time. Come on, voice. Well, today's episode is titled, hello, cruel world. It's the second episode of season seven, and originally aired on september 30, 2011 this episode, same thing picks up right where the last episode left off. I like that, though I kind of do I get

LA:

where you're coming from, like the timing, the time, like, your timeline is kind of off with it being that way. And

Berly:

I was complaining that, like, we don't know how much time has passed, which we didn't necessarily always know that in the previous episodes, but just we would know that some stuff has happened that they would be talking about, or, like, this fight happened and now they're not fighting. It's just, it's just abrupt and very different from previous seasons for it to just immediately pick up. I know it did that with Sympathy for the Devil the season premiere for season five, but, and it's done this before, but I'm just surprised that it's happened twice in a row right here at the beginning of the season. Well, we'll

LA:

see if it continues, but I can, I guess maybe I should say that I like it more when the season ends and then it like, it picks up right where it left off, right? That I like rather than like one year later, but I can't see like every single episode, right? I doubt I cannot see them doing that. I

Berly:

can't either. I can't either. I think it's just a coincidence that's happening like this at the beginning. Yeah, and plus, there is a lot going on yet again, a lot going on in these episodes, some

LA:

busy episodes,

Berly:

anywho, we've got evil Castiel, and he is so campy, and I am loving it. And I'm thinking, Oh, fuck, this is gonna be so fun this season to have this like, Hey, here's Johnny, like, version Misha Collins just eating it up. It was so good. And, like, literally within the first five minutes of this episode, they're like, no, let's make him disgusting. Have him start leaking stuff, and not be campy and fun anymore and just be like,

LA:

slowly dying, yeah, slowly leaking out everything. Oh,

Berly:

they're just like, you're gonna explode, aren't you? And he's like, no, no, whatever he

LA:

was saying he's called the Leviathan and the ass clowns, or the ass clowns coming out, coming

Berly:

out, just in his eye at one point, like, one, yeah, normal. And one was, like, black. It was just gross. And at first I was like, Is that blood? But it's like, this blood, the black stuff that we come saw come up through his veins.

LA:

I liked it coming up through the veins that was cool, that was cool, but then out of his head. And they took

Berly:

it too far, yeah, right. And we were a little confused at beginning, and then they reminded us of Eve. And I'm just like, Oh, okay. Like, that's kind of what happened when Eve was dying. Remember she had that gray, it more looked like dirty sweat than this black liquid that was coming out, but some similar ish. And that's when we were like, oh yeah. Like, she's the mother of monsters. She was the first. These are technically her children, but the death said the leviathans were the first so I'm just kind of like, so was evil Leviathan, and then you told me, shut up. I was

LA:

like, but they did say, in our lore from the last episode for for the Leviathan, didn't they say that it's seduced Eve or corrupted her,

Berly:

yeah, with. Daddy pills. Okay, Dean and Bobby look very concerned about Cass, but Cass just rightfully so. CASS is just like, get the fuck out of my way. Oh, first of all, Cassie, I'll already knocked out. Bobby, I forgot to bring that up in the last episode, threw him across that room like, literally, Bobby's just standing there looking around like, Oh my God. And Cass is like, Fuck you and like, just tosses them so Bobby unconscious. Deena worried about that. They're very concerned. But Cass is just like, I'm gonna leave and just go stumbling out into the hall.

LA:

I gotta go get myself together, figure out what the shit is leaking out of me.

Berly:

He just stumbles out and there just happens to be a water processing plant, like, right there. Maybe that's where they were, I don't know. He busts open the gate one handed, no problem, and just goes, like, wading out into the water,

LA:

which, as soon as I saw him going into the water, and it's the municipal water system, I'm just sitting there, like, Oh,

Berly:

great. Like, awesome. Gonna infect everybody. So he goes into the water, he's just like, waiting. And it was kind of, it was honestly really awkward, in my opinion, just the way you were,

LA:

like, what is he doing? And I said, baptizing himself. That's kind of what it looked like. And

Berly:

then he gets to a point where he decides, like, this is it? And he just goes into the water, and then it does a little Whirlpool, and there's smoke coming out of it, which that was kind of cool. And then castiel's body explodes. The explosion was cool too. And we see and we see all the little snake, all the monster, sneals, the sneel the sneels all go like flipping, flipping away. And under the water, he just exploded. But that trench coat survives. Sure

LA:

did. I just laid it up to Dean, and Dean just kind

Berly:

of picks it up and just kind of rolls it up in his arms. Is like, well, he's gone. That's it shit. That's it for Cass. But it'll keep his trench coat. And I was happy that later, whenever Bobby was like, Are you good? Because literally, the best friend you ever had died, and you didn't react at all. I'm happy they called that out. Yeah, yeah, because it was very awkward.

LA:

These boys are not the most emotionally healthy, really, guys in the world. But yeah,

Berly:

I was just like, What the fuck so? And also, while all this is happening, poor Sammy is having another intense hallucination where he thinks that Lucifer is choking him, holding him up against the wall. And Lucifer said to him that in hell, you're my bitch in every, in every way of the word, or something, in every, every sense of the word, yeah, yeah. What does that mean? I

LA:

think we know what that means. Oh,

Berly:

I just was like, Oh, my God.

LA:

But again, that's a hallucination. So that doesn't mean that's true, right?

Berly:

But we know that this show, we feel like I shouldn't say no. We feel like this show has made parallels to that kind of thing before, for sure, to assault before this. This was just basically said, and it is looser, like doing

LA:

with whoever he wants. So, oh my

Berly:

gosh. So Dean and Bobby, they find him and, like, get him to snap out of it. They're just like, Sam, like, and he realizes, Oh, I'm not being choked and held up against the wall. I'm okay. And so all three of them actually watch cast explode under the water. Bobby is like, Oh, fuck. Everybody's like, oh, fuck, okay. And then we cut to, like, the town. All the people are playing in the sprinklers and drinking from the water fountain and what have you. And we see specifically, two people get possessed by Leviathan. One is a little girl that's drinking from a water fountain, and the other one is, I think he says he's a construction worker later, and he's like, tinkering around on his car, and his sink makes a weird noise and like, gushes all over his face, and so I guess they possess him through his eyes or something. Back at Bobby's, Sam is resting again, and we hear Lucifers. I did like this. So Sam's been sleeping. We hear Lucifer his voice, and then it like changes to where it's actually Dean waking him up. I thought that was I thought that was cool. I liked that. So Dean wakes him up. I love these. Like, that was a good 12 hours. I'm going to consider you rusted, like, hydrate and protein eight. Yeah, it was cute. It was cute. And they check on Sam's hand, because it's still fucked from whatever he smashed it on that large shard of glass, and it's been all stitched up. But, like, his hand got fucked. I

LA:

was about to say that was a gnarly cut. Yeah, it looks cool stitched up. I mean, they did a good job at damn Yeah,

Berly:

and so they pour some alcohol on it and a rebanded you get, and they're just like, okay,

LA:

not rubbing alcohol, no liquor.

Berly:

You use what you got, right? I did like that. They had the professional gauze that,

LA:

yeah, I like that. They have that, but not not rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. You're

Berly:

actually not supposed to use hydrogen broth, I know, I know, but I didn't learn that until, like, last year, I

LA:

think, yeah, or some wound wash. I mean, you would think these boys would stock up on that with their daily lives, you know, I I don't even get

Berly:

as injured as them, and I have that shit, and I love that. They were just like, Okay, so like this Leviathan thing, Leviathan they. Happened, so we'll have to deal with that eventually. But right now, Sam, what the fuck? Why were you lying to us? And Sam puts on his cute little puppy face, and was like, I mean, I wasn't lying. I just wasn't talking about it.

LA:

He was like, You guys had so much going on.

Berly:

I didn't want to add to it. I'm sorry. I get it. Well, last episode, Sam, whenever he did kind of tell them there's some bad things going on, he did say, but I clearly know what's real and what's not, he lets them know this time, like I'm not doing so great with that anymore. Things, things are getting pretty, pretty fucking bad, he essentially admits, but he can see Lucifer and he's talking to me right now.

LA:

It was so cute. I mean, Dean was like, are you seeing him right now? And Sam kind of looks over and then looks at Dean sheepishly, and just nods his head like, yeah, it was, it was,

Berly:

it was done really well. I mean, that had to have been difficult to be ginseng Ackles and just completely ignoring that Mark pellerino Was there whatsoever, not responding to him in the slightest. That was, that was interesting, the way they filmed it, and him perched up. And I also thought it was interesting whenever it's like, okay, yeah, I'm talking to Lucifer, and I don't know what's real or not, because Dean tells him, you know, he's not real. And Sam straight up, says, well, he says that about you. And then Bobby is just like, all right, I'm gonna go like, yeah.

LA:

First of all, I really loved how like, little boy, like Sam, was in this just like his older brother's questioning him. He's like, he's already admitted to lying to them pretty much about it, and then now admitting to something that's kind of like embarrassing. He's like, Well, he said that about you too. What am I supposed to think? But Bobby,

Berly:

he's just like, I'm gonna go. He

LA:

said, Dean, you deal with that. You deal with this.

Berly:

I'm out. I don't know what else to do about it. I'm gonna go. I'm

LA:

gonna start doing that. From now on, there's an issue that pops up, I'm gonna go, I'm out. You guys have fun with that. So

Berly:

we go back to the little girl that's now possessed by a leviathan. And I love that the little Leviathan, like, got home and decided to, like, dress up a little bit because she had that sweater with, like, the the sleeves over her, like, her little Karen outfit. Yeah,

LA:

she's, she's a pretty sophisticated

Berly:

little bit. Yeah. So she's sitting on her bed, flipping through the channels, and she stops on Dr, sexy, MD, and one of the characters from the TV is talking about how, oh, I'm a surgeon. I can cut up whatever I want. I can cut into whoever I want. And the little girl's little Missy a smile. Did you see Did

LA:

you notice that they were, like, without any paperwork, right? I was like, what

Berly:

kind of show? What is this show? Yeah,

LA:

not according to HIPAA law,

Berly:

but that little smile she did was perfect. Oh yeah, it was perfect. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that we moved on quickly from having another evil little girl, like, been there, done that in the world of supernatural. But I liked her little performance, yeah.

LA:

I mean, even from just taking the sip of water from at the fountain and then threw it all, yeah, when she did that thing, yeah? Well, and I like that. It was just, like, a moment. It was really quick, too. But because, you know, sometimes they drag it out and it's just like, and she's something else.

Berly:

Yeah, she put on quite little performance. It was cute. So now they're in the kitchen, Dean and Bobby. And Sam is in the library by himself stroking his gun. And Bobby is like, okay, Dean, we know Sam's not okay, but there's nothing we can do about that right now, like, we're just gonna have to write this out. Haven't ever dealt with someone's wall in their brain cracking and memories of and terrors of hell and all this other like, can't do anything about that. But in the meantime, how are you? And Dean was just like, okay, and that's when Bobby was like, Are you though? I don't know. I don't think that you are. If you ever want to talk about it, if you decide that you know, you're going to actually confront this stuff and feel your feelings, I'm here for you, and this becomes very important later. Now we cut to a high school, and we are in the locker room, and there's a swim team there. There are two guys in the locker room, and I don't know what they were talking about. It doesn't really matter. Two other guys come walking in and, like, lock the door behind them, and the guys are like, Oh my God, you're gonna get in trouble. What are you doing? And they were just like, we're hungry. And one of them, like, smashes them. Oh, I forgot, yeah, this is when we got our first blood splooge, right? Oh yeah, this was the first one. Yeah. So we get our first blood splooge of the season, but our 47th blood splooge of the supernatural series as two Leviathan possessed, swim, swim, swim swimmers, swimmer, swim swimmers, yeah, kill the other two swimmers and eat them because they were very hungry. And so now we've got a crime scene, a messy. On, hang on, we're getting there. So I don't know how Sam finds out about the crime scene, but Sam, you know, is TINKERING AWAY, probably trying to keep himself distracted and not listening to Lucifer. And he happens to find it, and he's just like, Dean, you've got a case, you've got to go. I can't go because I'm like, delilu right now, and I'm not going to be really I'll be a liability. So you've got a case. This could be a leviathan thing. You go. Bobby's here, researching more. Go, go see if you can find more about this. I want to get there so bad. But we're not there yet. Okay, so then we

LA:

got highlight of the episode,

Berly:

highlight of the episode. So we got back to the park where the little girl got possessed, drinking from water fountain. She's sitting on a swing. Edgar, the mechanic, comes walking up and is just like, Oh my God, those swimmers you get, get your people under control. And she's like, I'm fucking trying. And he said something about, like, you got yourself a little body, like making fun of her. Was like, What the fuck is happening? Because at first I thought Edgar was in charge, but then he was telling her to get her people under control. And so I was like,

LA:

well, their conversation was very confusing. Because, yeah, I was at first, I thought it was her, that she is in charge. Then he said that. So the power dynamic was confused. It was weird because

Berly:

it was like he was talking down to her, but then insinuating she was in charge of people and so, but then he finally said, you know, like the boss doesn't care, like, we just need to get our shit together. And so I said, all these two must be, like the the two lieutenants. I said, that weird. And then lieutenant, Lieutenant, Lieutenant. And then there must be some big boss somewhere who we haven't met yet, but the little girl lets Edgar know that she's got an idea. She watched some TV, and she knows how babies are made.

LA:

I like that she was Didn't she say gross, by the way, yeah. So

Berly:

it's important to know that leviathans, once they possess a person, they get all their memories, and they know everything that person knew. That was interesting. I was not expecting that. Yeah. So we were like, oh, like shape shifters, but we still didn't see what was coming next, which I still don't quite understand, but that's fine. It happened with Eve. So whatever did the shape shifters remember their memories? Yeah, they like said that, like, once they touched them, they like absorbed all their memories. Oh, that's right, at least in the early seasons, I feel like that, that kind of disappeared, maybe, I don't know. So we cut to the hospital, and Dr Gaines is making his rounds. What did you think of Dr Gaines? Alay,

LA:

well, first of all, we found out that Sheriff Jody Mills is in the hospital, which we think wasn't for an appendix surgery. Yeah. Okay. She has this little nosy Busy Bee partner in the room with her, like, another patient, yeah, who is clearly annoying her. But then Dr Gaines comes in and just charms the pants off of both of them, which they're not wearing pants, they're in hospital gowns.

Berly:

I was about to say, fortunately they didn't already have pants on.

LA:

But no, he was, I was like, Oh, he's looking guy. And then, like, watching him and Sheriff Mills interact, I thought, I'm thinking a cute couple. What's gonna happen? Yeah, and he was flirty with her. Mm, hmm. It doesn't go that way though.

Berly:

I don't remember why we decided she had her appendix removed.

LA:

I think it's, I think he mentioned something about appendix, or maybe the other patient, did

Berly:

roommate? Oh, didn't the roommate say something about, like, he won't know your appendix from your something,

LA:

yeah, after he left the room because she's she was bitching about

Berly:

yeah because she didn't, she wasn't happy with Russ day, yeah, the little girl shows up and unfortunately, confronts Dr Gaines, and she's like, are you dr sexy? And la goes, Yes, he is. Well, unfortunately, she grabs his arm, like snaps his wrist or his forearm or something, and tells him that she wants to grow up. She's ready to grow up now, and she's hungry, and they were behind a standing curtain thing. They did a really cool thing with the shadow. So the camera like pans out to the other side of the curtain. So all we see are their two shadows, and we see her shadow grow into being the same as him. Well, he was grown, oh yeah, he was on his knees, but she got she grew like we see her shadow grow and get tall, and so by the time it pants all the way around the curtain to the other side, we now see that there is a duplicate. Dr Gaines, so whenever a human standing holding the original Dr Gaines, yeah. So then we were really confused for a second, but we figured out now so a leviathan possessed human is able to change shape somehow and not just change shape into another human. They have, like, these giant eelhead Things really gather jaw with the massive teeth. Yeah, it's like, geez. So I guess they, like, turn into a like, maybe it's like a mishmash of, like, multiple monsters. Or the leviathans, like, it's a shape shifter, it's a vampire, it's a well, they

LA:

were sea monsters. So like, sea monster,

Berly:

yeah, the mouth did look very shark, like, yeah, that jaw

LA:

and multiple, like you said, multiple

Berly:

teeth, rows of teeth. So who knows. We were very confused, but then we remembered that Eve was able to shape shift into Mary Winchester. So we guess it makes sense that these monsters that are supposed to be like Eve, and Eve, you know, banged the original Leviathan or whatever in the lore last week. I don't remember. I'm trying really hard to make sense of this season. We're only on Episode Two. I thought the confusing season was over. No. Anyway, we get our 48th blood splooge of the supernatural series as Leviathan. Dr Gaines eats himself. I

LA:

just referred to him as Dr sexy the rest of the way through my notes.

Berly:

So now Dr Gaines is the Leviathan, and the little girl body is just gone, like she's gone, yeah, like she's morphed into her. She's morphed into the DR Gaines replicate and then ate the OG Dr Gaines, poor guy, because she was real hungry.

LA:

Poor Jody, they

Berly:

would have had a great deal. I know you were really looking forward to that. Jodi, speaking of comes to and sees in the middle of the night, the doctor leaned over her roommate and like, gassing her. And she's just like, what the fuck I'm not due for surgery. And he's like, I'm Dr sexy. Now I get to perform surgery and cut people open whenever I want.

LA:

I said, Your surgery's when I tell you the surgery is, yeah.

Berly:

And so Jody is kind of thinking, you know, she just woke up, so she's groggy, groggy. And I was like, What the fuck. And then the doctor wheels her out. Jodi's not having it, so she gets up out of bed and like, rolls her little IV bag over to the door. And like, looks around the corner and sees him walking by himself, just pushing the patient around, which a doctor would not come and get you out of the room, like, all that kind of stuff. So like, shady, super shady. So Jodi takes her little sailing bag off the thing, and like, waddles,

LA:

which good for her, because as soon as I saw her to try to wheel that around. I was thinking, honey, take that out.

Berly:

It's gonna make some noise. Be a little more mobile. Yeah, yeah. And like, way to have some initiative. Oh, yeah. Because right, that. This is why I would not be a hunter in the supernatural business. I would have totally seen that and been like, not my business, not my circus, not my not my circus, not my monkeys. I know monsters exist, my monkeys, not my circus.

LA:

Which one is,

Berly:

it doesn't matter. I'm not having none of it. Yeah, I would have been on my cell phone right then and there.

LA:

I would have been like, I think I would have called the nurse. Hey, no,

Berly:

I wouldn't have trusted anybody right away. Oh, you would just call Bobby. I would just call Bobby right there.

LA:

Okay, yeah, same is there in that world?

Berly:

It's a monster, is a serial killer, is a something? Get me the fuck out of here, right? I mean, she didn't save her anyway, you know, yeah,

LA:

late.

Berly:

Oh no, I'm a bad person. Why? Because I wouldn't have tried to help.

LA:

Are you saying, in real life or in that world?

Berly:

I'm saying, if I was Jody, I would have been like, oh hell no. Like, I know that stuff is real, okay, and he just gassed this woman and took her away in the middle of the night. I would have been out of there, out of the hospital. Yeah, I would have been the fuck out. Sorry,

LA:

roommate,

Berly:

but Jody, like, gets her little sailing bag. She carries it, and I thought that was smart, so that she could be more quiet, and she goes ahead and goes to investigate further. She's a cop, you know, it's what she does. But she doesn't get there in time. Doctor, she gets there in time for something. Dr, sexy has already cut open the patient without removing her gown first. So I'm like, that should have raised some red flags. Oh, I didn't notice that. No, she still had the gown on, because, remember, you didn't like how he touched, like, Oh, her leg on her leg and up. The gown was still there. So I'm like, so he cut through the gown to get the liver maybe opened in the front. Who knows? Anyway, so Jody sees Dr sexy, like, chomp on the liver. Yeah, yeah. And that's when she finally goes, oh shit, and tries to haul ass back to her room, but she's over exerted herself. She had surgery. We know she has sutures. I'm still going with appendix, yep, for sure, that's what it is. And she does not make it back to her bed. Passes out in the hallway.

LA:

One of the nurses sees her, though Right. Kind of stops her and sees it happen.

Berly:

Luckily, she did not pop a suture. She is in the bed. She is not safe, though, not at all. The nurse and the doctor are like, What the fuck, what are you doing? Jody, oh my God. And the doctor's like, I told you, you need rest. What are you doing? Oh, my God. She just says, I'm sorry. Like, my sutures itched, and I didn't know what was going on, and I just wanted some help. But I feel fine. Now. I feel fine. And the doctor, I think he knew,

LA:

well, didn't he, like, some semi threatener or something? Well, he dosed her, Oh, remember, oh, that's what he was like, don't make me get back in there. Yeah. And

Berly:

I was like, that's something that could have been so sexy if she hadn't seen what had just happened to the roommate. Don't. Make me get back in there, see it? Oh, I

LA:

mean, come on, doctor, sexy.

Berly:

It could have been sexy, but it really wasn't. No, it was just terrifying, terrifying and scary as hell. And she gets dosed, and it's, it's in her IV. Like, she tries to rip it out and stop it, but too late. Like, well, yeah,

LA:

she, well, she kind of, they, they put it in the IV, and they kind of little, say their goodbyes. They are out of the room, and then she tries to get it out. But like you said, I mean, it's too late like that goes right into your system

Berly:

right away. But so she falls by the side of her bed, and she's screwed for a little bit, but she does get her back back at Bobby's house, Sam and Lucifer are discussing Sam's torture and when it could potentially end, and Lucifer implies that you know how it'll end. That's why you're cleaning your guns. Didn't like that. Yeah, didn't like that. I'm just like, Can Sam have a fucking break, right? My God, oh well, Bobby walks in, and now he's trying to be supportive. He's trying to be like, you know, I'm here. This is real. You're okay. You beat the devil before you can do it again. And Lucifer is behind Bobby over his shoulder, like taunting him the whole time. Even stabs Bobby through the chest with a fire poker. That was pretty damn graphic, yeah, and Bobby's not reacting whatsoever. He's still just trying to smile kindly at Sam and be there for Sam. Then Bobby's phone rings, and he was like, Oh, that's my local. I don't know why I liked that. Oh, that's my local. So he goes and answers the phone. It's just like, hey, and Jody's like, my god, there's a monster, Bobby, you and I killed some fucking zombies together. I know you know how to handle this stuff. You you get over here and you get me out of here. I just saw a doctor cut open a woman and eat her liver. And Bobby hangs up with her, and it's like, okay, so Sheriff Mills is either having a fever dream or there's a monster at the hospital. Either way, I have to leave you here, Sam, and I'm gonna, I'm gonna go check it out. Bobby's not the only one en route to the hospital, mechanic Edgar and the swim, the possessed swim boys, swimmers, they show up. Oh, I skipped the I skipped the crime scene. Let me reindewind it. Let me rewind it. I said that. I said that Dean was going to check it out, but then I forgot to actually say what he found. Oh, yeah. So let's go back to the swimmers.

LA:

Right, right? This was all before Dr sexy took that lady. It was surgery. It

Berly:

was, I totally skipped it. Yeah. So the case that Dean got sent to to go check out was the swimmers. Whenever he shows up at the school and walks in, there's this guy, it was forensics, and this was our favorite moment of the entire episode. So I'm actually really upset with myself for skipping it right now. So this guy's like, Oh yeah, I'm forensics. Like, the main cup. He went and got a donut and blah, blah, blah. And Dean is just like, okay, like, so what's going on? He's like, Well, I'd give you a tour, but watch your step. We've got a, what it was like, boatload of in seat. What you got it

LA:

in C's, there's a boatload of NC, 17 schnickel all over the place right over

Berly:

there. And so I immediately over, pick up the remote, hit pause, and we were both just like, silent for a second. And then la finally looked at me and was just like, did he just say that their dicks are all over the place over there? I

LA:

think we both said, what? Yeah, we

Berly:

really, what did that say? Did he say? What I thought he said? And so we rewound it and he said it again. And we had, we had the closed captions on so we can see in C, 17 nickel or whatever, what is nickel?

LA:

Schnitzel, schnickel, schnickel.

Berly:

He said, There's dicks over there pretty much. And we just really, okay, just what, what? And so we thought, surely we must be misunderstanding this. Surely we're not getting it. And then dean turns the corner, and it cuts to a like pillar, a tiled pillar in the room that he's looking at. And sure enough, it's the print of a bloody dick on the wall. I

LA:

said, Dick, blood splat, yeah,

Berly:

it's like, a dick, blood splat, yeah. Like, somebody just slapped it on the wall, yeah, in the shape of a dick. And I'm like, Okay, So sure enough, there's just a bunch of dicks everywhere. Yep, they did not show this, which I'm assuming other body body parts are around. So leviathans do not like eating dick, yeah, I guess,

LA:

like, liver or the forensic guy was like, just, just to warn you, there's dicks about, plus arms and maybe toes and things like, but

Berly:

he specifically said, Dick, I know it was, but there has to be other parts of that. Like, I thought the gray poop Han thing was random in the last episode. Like, no, just look out for the dicks. Watch out for the bloody dicks,

LA:

the dead dicks, the

Berly:

dead bloody dicks, all over there. Be careful.

LA:

Don't step on them. I was not I'm still trying to, like process. Taken aback, but watching the boys now it which I mean, Eric isn't even a part of this at this point, right? Well, he's still a producer, right? Yeah. Yeah, I

Berly:

think so, or maybe not. I know he was still for season six, but

LA:

I don't know. I was just shocked by this. I

Berly:

don't know how involved he was. Yeah, we'll definitely have to see who wrote these, yeah,

LA:

because I that little part just kind of shocked me for this little show. Maybe

Berly:

it'll be relevant at some point in the future that leviathans do not like eating the penises. I don't think so, that they leave them behind. That'd

LA:

be weird.

Berly:

It was weird already. Yeah?

LA:

I mean, I guess, yeah. I don't know. We'll see just like, look

Berly:

out for all those bloody dicks, guys. I don't know. Okay, we'll move on, because this was a very short scene, yeah? So Dean walks around, sees the carnage, and is just like, oh, yeah, okay. And I don't know if he decided this is Leviathan. I don't know. I don't know what his assessment was of this crime scene. If he was able to put two and two back together? Yeah. Anywho. So back to the hospital. Bobby's en route to the hospital. Edgar and the two swimmers that are possessed are also now at the hospital and Dr sexy scary. Dr sexy has met Edgar and the swimmers as explaining his plan, and it's just like people just die here all the time. Nobody asks why. Nobody questions it. When you tell them why, it's the perfect place for us, we'll be able to eat as much as we want. And Edgar is just like, Yes, this is perfect. This is exactly what would make the boss happy. And Dr sexy has the head nurse and somebody else I don't remember. And we get our 49th blood splooge of the supernatural series, as one of the swimmers goes over and is like, I don't know what they were doing to the nurse exactly, but I did think it was really terrifying. Whenever Edgar said, why aren't they screaming? And the doctor was like, Oh, I severed their vocal cords. It was a very good of course, of course, duh. It was a very delicate procedure. But yeah, so the person, the actress, is like, obviously terrified, and has their mouth open like they're screaming, but like nothing's coming out, as the swimmer turns into her, and then we get the blood splooge on the wall. And these blood splooges were all just a little chunky. Yeah,

LA:

they all had a little, just little little something, little grit, something in there, something

Berly:

in there. Yeah, lots. We had three blitz bleaches in this episode. Yeah, I totally thought we were gonna hit 50. I

LA:

know you kept saying that. Yeah,

Berly:

I did too. So Bobby gets there and gets gets Jody the fuck out of there, and Sam is back at the house by himself when Dean pulls up and comes in and says, Oh yeah. I went and checked out that case, and it led me right back to here, like, we gotta go. Come with me. We need to go check this out. Sam totally jumps up and follows Dean outside. And then when they're in the Apollo, they're having these conversations where Dean is telling Sam, like you were in hell, you're gone crazy. Like that doesn't just go away like you're fucked, you're fucked. And he brought up Martin and Albuquerque. I was like, we're still never going to know what happened in Albuquerque. But yeah, he was like, you saw Martin, maybe, maybe then we'll answer it one day. You're right. We've got plenty of seasons to go. The way Dean was talking to Sam, I was proud of us, that we picked it up. You and I was off, yeah, we were both like, that's not Dean. That's not Dean. So it turns out Sam is good

LA:

on you. Jensen, yeah, he

Berly:

did, because it was, it was very subtle, right? I mean, it was reminiscent of season four, like the voicemail and things like that. So it wasn't completely out of the realm of something dean would maybe say, but it just seemed so abrupt, and just even the way he was talking, it was just

LA:

off, right? And especially with how worried he has obviously been about him in this situation since what happened with Cass so I just right away, just I as he was speaking, even his tone right was yeah, just off.

Berly:

So yeah, you're right. Like Jensen, he did well. He did well with like, it was Dean, but it wasn't right.

LA:

So good on just being subtly off, yeah. And it was like we were sitting there both kind of, what, yeah, what. And then it kind of clicked for both of us,

Berly:

I think at the same time, yep. We were both like, this isn't real. And right, as you and I said that, it cut to Dean showing up at Bobby's, and we were like, confirmation, okay, Sam's hallucinating. Sam and Dean pull up to, like an office building, and there's people up at the top, and they get out of the car, and Sam looks down, and he's got car keys in his hand. So then we get the other confirmation that, okay, this, this isn't real. Well, it's

LA:

real that Sam drove somewhere, but Sam drove himself right?

Berly:

Sam hijacked Bobby's van, and they walk into the building, and as they're walking to the building, Dean is just like, you know, you know, like you're crazy. You can't be fixed. Like you think we're walking to an office building right now, and as soon as they cross the threshold, they aren't in an office building. They're in some weird warehouse thing. Well, fortunately, earlier in the episode, I did skip this, and it ended up being important, Dean turned on the GPS in Sam's phone, just in case he vanished again. Which? Good job. Good move. Good move. Because Dean is able to track Sam right away to get there and confront him. And for the first time in a while, talks about hell and talks about how I remember being there and I remember the torture there. But there's something different about the. Pain we experience here, you know, this, it's different. And he takes Sam's injured hand and squeezes it, and sure enough, like whenever that happens, the Lucifer hallucination falters, you know? And so they just kind of go back and forth where it's just like, This is real. You're here. I stitched this up like this is a real injury. You can feel this. It's different from what you're seeing. And so Sam finally is able to come, come back and get grounded a little bit.

LA:

I liked that.

Berly:

It was a cool scene. It was an interesting, interesting way to kind of approach getting Sam grounded again. Yeah. Now I don't like the idea of Sam having to hurt himself during the rest of the season in order to stay grounded. Yeah, I

LA:

don't like that either.

Berly:

But the scene, the scene alone, was, was nice, yeah, also

LA:

just to see him have some sort of control, too. Mm, hmm.

Berly:

Now, Bobby's at the hospital. He's gotten Jody mills in the cab and all of that, and he's gone back in and he's investigating, he's doing his Hunter stuff, and he's looking at the body of the roommate who passed away during surgery, and sees like she was supposed to have foot surgery. And he was like, What the fuck like, why would you die during foot surgery? And then whenever he takes a look at the body, it's already been autopsied, so he's like, okay, something shady is going on. But then Dr sexy comes in, it's just like, oh my god, hey, I know you. I saw you through the angel's eyes.

LA:

Oh,

Berly:

that's when we're like, oh shit. Like the leviathans know who Bobby Sam and Dean are, and now they know Bobby Sam and Dean are onto them. Not good. Not good at all. So Bobby calls Sam and Dean and lets them know the jig is up. Like, we're busted. Leviathans are here. They did their he did his scary face at Bobby. Bobby shot him in the wasn't, was it in the head? No. Dean shot one in the head. Later. Bobby shot this one was silver and it did nothing. He was like, there was black, bloody, like, fell out. Yeah, the body was like, nothing. And like, silver is like, their go to, you know, like that works on everything silver and salt, nope, not here. So they're just like, oh shit, Sam and Dean, bail on the warehouse wherever they are. They get the hell out of there, and they go to rendezvous at Bobby's. And when they come pulling up, Bobby's house has been torched. I couldn't believe that. I couldn't either. I was just like, what the hell I like even didn't didn't think it was Bobby's house. At first, I was trying to figure out, what is this. I saw the singer salvage sign, so I knew we were back at Bobby's. But I was like, What is this? And then they go in and are pulling out the books and all that. And I was like, yeah, they fucking torched Bobby's house. That set has been, like, a really regular set. Where are they gonna go? Oh, true. We still have the set. Good thing. They have the internet now for what their research and stuff they're gonna need to do on cases and everything all those books were fucked, yeah, and they can't find Bobby. Sam and Dean are running around trying to find Bobby. They cannot find Bobby. And so Dean finally calls Bobby and admits I'm not doing okay, and you told me that you were gonna be here. So where are you? Like, I need you to be okay. Like, Dean's basically letting him know I can't take another thing. I think Dean's getting real close to, like, snapping or something. Yeah, not good. Well, then Edgar, the mechanic, shows up, and it's just like, oh, you should be honored that you are worthy of elimination, right, right? We're here. We're here to fuck you up. But Sam and Dean somehow developed a plan at some point, I don't know when, because after Dean gets like, slammed up against the car and breaks his leg, Sam pushes Edgar or something, and then tells Dean, like, Dean now, and Dean picks up this remote thing and hits it and drops a car on Edgar, and he like squashes underneath, and we see, like this black ooze coming out. So I'm thinking he's done for right? But I also was like, when did they develop this plan? Is that, just like a plan that they keep in their back pocket, that if they're ever getting attacked at Bobby's, this is the plan,

LA:

I guess, or maybe they just both saw the right and the right position, I don't know, brother's intuition, I don't know. Yeah,

Berly:

probably that, probably that. Well, Sam's knocked the out. Dean goes crawling over to him because his legs broken. And he's like, Dude, I need you to wake up. Like, you have to carry me. This time I got a broken leg. Please wake up. He's not waking up. So Dean does something I thought was unpredictable, and calls an ambulance. First time I've ever seen that happen, right? Ambulance comes and gets them. Poor Sammy is seizing and hallucinating all over again. In the ambulance, Dean's leg is fucked, and then he hears them say that they're taking them to the same hospital where the leviathans are. And Dean is just like, please do not take us there. Take us anywhere else. And then he was just like, okay, yeah, sure, buddy. And to make matters worse, we cut back to Bobby's and the squished Edgar, the black ooze is like seeping back in. So I have a feeling Edgar's just fine. Oh yeah, well, yeah, his little thing, his fingers move. His little fingers, yeah, his little finger. Little Fingers, fingers, yeah. So that's, that's the. That, yeah. This episode was written by Ben Edlund. Ben, what was up with the dicks? Man, the bloody, the bloody Dick splat on the wall. That's funny. Is that gonna be relevant later? Or was that just, you get, like, I just snuck that kicks, just getting those kicks. You know, what would be hilarious, dicks. Yeah. And it was directed by Guy B, all right, Gore. I mean, we had three blood splooges, yeah, this episode, there was quite a bit of gore and black blood, black bloody dicks. I can't say. I mean, obviously we've talked about it sufficiently. Obviously, the bloody Dick thing stuck out in both of our minds, for sure. Um, then the blood splooges. They were all they were, they were pretty well used, I think, no, yeah, I liked the curtain thing I did too, with the shadow. That's not really Gore, but I still liked the shadow work that they did there. Haven't seen something like that in this up in this series before that, I'm recalling, oh, yeah, like it wasn't the artistic kind of horror, like it was last episode, true, yeah, but it was, it was fun. This episode felt more like a soap opera to me. I don't know why, yeah, yeah. I

LA:

don't know why. Said that when we were done, when

Berly:

it ended, I just was like, I feel like this is a soap opera with, like, the dramatic, no, not there, and then the little wiggle leg of the fingers and all that,

LA:

yeah, yeah,

Berly:

I can see it just a little bit anyway. Did you adore anything about this episode? I

LA:

was happy to see Sheriff Mills again, right? That was random, but I was good to see her. And I like they brought her back, high hopes for her and Dr Gaines, but that really got squashed. Yeah, I definitely,

Berly:

I do like that. They brought her back because it had to be somebody in the hospital who knew what Bobby did, right for them to call and be like, Get your ass here. Some something's weird going on. So I she was a good pick.

LA:

What about you?

Berly:

I I've been so much, I'm so terrible like trying to put together in my head with the roadmap of the season is going to be and I need to stop doing that. I need to just be present and watch the episode and stop trying to figure out what's going to happen next. Yeah, so I was really bad about that last episode, and now this episode, because I did that to myself all of season six, and it got me nowhere, because the whole season was designed to be a mystery. So I just need to let it go and just go with it. Yeah, I am disappointed. What you adore? Well, I adored campy, evil Cass Leviathan thing, and they did away with him very early on in the episode. It was nice to see Jody Mills, yeah. And I did enjoy Jensen's performance and Sam's performance as well. Like, correct the whole we've talked about it, you know, did I just say correct because it is correct. I did enjoy it. You know, you talking about whenever Jared paddle, like he was doing his little baby like, yeah, there were some really good performances in this. So I will say that, but I am leading into the lore. I am disappointed that I was incorrect about the blatant villain of this season. Yeah, me too. So with that, take us into the lore. La,

LA:

well, we know from Misha is supernatural Then and Now interviews, that this was supposed to be the end of Castiel, but he'll be back eventually. But for now, rip cast, we did some digging. Well, barley did some digging for CASL lore and found something potentially relevant. And this is a blog by Stacy the black feather intuitive. Who is Archangel Cassiel, the Archangel of duality. Yeah, no tea, right? I know that's gonna trick me. I feel like, let's see how I deal with this.

Berly:

I mean, it's so close. Gotta be relevant

LA:

Archangel Cassiel, known as the angel of tears and temperament, or who Stacy refers to as the Archangel of duality, can help us find harmony and balance when we are feeling low, open up new realities and help us embrace the duality within each of each of us feel like I'm like, like, some meditation thing, kind of, yeah,

Berly:

I'm getting those times,

LA:

which I will say, I did cut, cut a part of this blog. We'll put the blog link up, but I did cut a block, a part of it off for her, where she meditates, I think, to Cassiel or something like that. So anywho, duality is an instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something, a dualism. By this definition, duality is a fundamental part of our human experience here on Earth. We cannot understand light without first experiencing dark. We need both aspects of an experience to fully integrate our ego into the higher selves, healing the duality within. We need to explore both to end our suffering, accept ourselves fully just as we are, and live fearlessly in the now, in the present moment and joy we are both and we are neither. So. Within this understanding, there is balance. Within this balance, there is harmony. Within this harmony, there is oneness. And within this oneness is love in every moment, and every moment is perfect, just as is man. I wish I could feel that way.

Berly:

I feel like Cass TL struggled with that duality here. I don't think he ever got to that oneness that she's speaking Well,

LA:

it's funny. You say that, because then the next, the next line is, enter Archangel Cassel when you need solace or comfort during troubled times, or a friend when you're all alone, call upon Cassiel to support you. I need Cassie a lot, right? Unlike other angels, Cassiel simply observes and watches what happens here on earth without interfering. Oh, not Castiel, right? No, a messy little bitch, right? He's considered to be the ruling Prince, or high ranking angel who guards the seventh heaven, which is said to be the most sacred realm where God sits on his throne. I have no boyfriends left, but he's coming back, and so we don't know Ben. Oh, well, yeah. Some believe Archangel Cassiel is in charge of past life experiences and reincarnation. Others claim he helps protect you from psychic attacks and the art of meditation. I thought meditation was good for astrologers. Saturn also associated with the concept of time as the slowest moving planet. Saturn represents maturity in the aging process. So naturally, Cassiel also became known as the angel of time. Lastly, some refer to Cassiel as the angel of the sea, because he can understand the language of the dolphins, okay, due to this close connection with oh my god, okay. Due to this close connection with dolphins, some say to call upon CASL to protect you when you visit or live near the sea.

Berly:

Again, Castiel did not fare so well with the sea sea creatures. He

LA:

did not no and be careful of dolphins, especially so then she says the death of kings. Cassiel has also been tasked with presiding over the death of kings in astrology, the sun symbolizes kingship, and the winter solstice marks the death of the sun, ie the death of kings. And then for symbols and signs to recognize CASL. For most people, Archangel Cassiel can appear bathed in white or silver light with hints of bronze, purple or pink. He is predominantly portrayed as a bearded man wearing a crown, and is often shown carrying a spear and riding a dragon.

Berly:

Again, he failed with the whole riding the dragon thing. I

LA:

know it. I know it. Castile did, right, right, right. CASL is on board. He's

Berly:

Cassie L's.

LA:

He's flying through the sky, yeah.

Berly:

Cassie L is Castiel. Goals, correct? Yes. Got it. Got it.

LA:

Alternatively, in some tarot cards, Archangel Cassiel is represented as a man wearing a black robe carrying a scythe. That is why some people mistakenly refer to him as the Archangel of death. Oh,

Berly:

never heard that. Maybe either. Well, I've never heard of Archangel Cassiel. True, same, but whenever I tried to Google Castiel, nothing came up just this. Huh?

LA:

I wonder what, why they changed it Well, I mean, probably because He's nothing like Right?

Berly:

Well, and he's also not an archangel in the show, true, yeah, Hmm. Well, quote, to close it out, it's from Dean, after he had picked up Sam, this is hallucination Dean. He said, I know you're bonkers, but luckily, I need you to keep the engine running and wait by the back door. Just don't, uh, don't let Satan change my presets.

LA:

Cheers, cheers.

Berly:

Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
