LA:over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.
Berly:I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
LA:I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.
Berly:Hello, la.
LA:Hey Burley.
Berly:This episode was my favorite episode since tall tales.
LA:But were you going to do your I know, but
Berly:it was just so good. And I'm so excited about it.
LA:Okay, well, I was I was gonna get into that. But I was waiting for the recap of last week. Before we
Berly:did that were our last episode, Sam and Dean went to investigate the mysterious demise of drowned victims who may or may not have been anywhere near water. At the time of their death, Sam got harassed by an old grandma and Bella showed up, and she saw the ghost ship and almost died too. But the boys saved Bella's life and had a little fight because Sam is mad that Dean doesn't care about his own life. That's it?
LA:Well, I say, I know it's the beginning of the episode. We don't do this, but let's give a little cheers to Gertrude. She was a spicy lady. Cheers.
Berly:Oh, I don't know if I got I did. I talked about how like, I don't think I'm gonna be a Coover.
LA:Yeah, you did.
Berly:I'm sad. Hey, you never I thought I would be
LA:the right young and may come along. I don't know. You never know. Stay open. Okay. Oh, my gosh, it's thundering and it's really good for this episode. Because this episode, as you mentioned, was a doozy. It was so good. I can in the best
Berly:way. Were like screaming and yelling. Yeah, getting up off the couch.
LA:I had six pages of notes and my hand was hurting and we had to stop multiple times. is so good, though. Yeah. This episode, it was called fresh blood. Right away. I was excited because in almost the first scene, we see Bella and I'm like, Oh, we got Val again. And then all of a sudden we see Gordon, I'm like, Oh my God. We got Bella and Gordon again. Yeah, they have a little exchange. He kind of walks up on her getting into her car and surprises her. He has a gun on her. And he knows that she had been working with the Winchesters. He wants to know where they are. Because Sam is the Antichrist. Yeah. I feel like Cooper got
Berly:to Oh, man. It's
LA:gotten worse over time. He's like, what was it? He was like in charge of the
Berly:demons at first. He's not human. You're a demon soldier. Yeah, you're gonna lead the demon army. Right. And now Kubrick's gotten in his ear. And he's like, he's the fucking antichrist.
LA:I was like, Whoa, when he said that, I was like, alright, we're getting a little deep into it.
Berly:All right. So it was like, Oh, I heard that from the tooth fairy. Oh, my god. That was so funny. She was there a little dynamic was so good.
LA:Like you. I know. You don't like the cockiness of Ruby or whatever. And you're, like, Bella, hers is so good. Because she she's like, oh, yeah, I heard that from the tooth fairy. Who? Who heard Easter bunny? Oh, yeah, that was it. She was like, Oh, that's right. I heard a little something about that. From the Easter Bunny, who heard it from the tooth fairy and then something else. And I was like, Oh, she's so good. Oh, she basically tells him You know, I don't respond well to threats. If you want to make some sort of arrangement bargain. I can do that. And he of course, he threatens to kill her. And she's like, Okay, well go ahead and kill me. You know, good luck getting Sam and Dean, which I was like, Damn, she's a badass because I shit wouldn't do that with a gun to my head. Yeah, kudos to her. But he says he thinks he can scrounge up like three grand and she's like, I don't get out of bed for three grand which Damn. Right? I get out of bed.
Berly:Every day, every week.
LA:And he kind of moves and she sees this little bag on his waistband belt or something. It looks like a little bag. You would keep coins and she calls it a mojo bag. Yeah. So she gets real excited when she sees it. And says she'll take that. And he says no, it's and she finishes for him. It's priceless. He's like, No, that's ridiculous. I'm not gonna give it to you. And she's like, well, you know, what are you gonna do? Yeah. So he hands it over. She whips out her cell phone calls Dean, which you you notice was on speed dial. Yeah, she
Berly:only pushed like two but yes.
LA:I mean, she wants it. Don't we'll, I know. She calls them asks where they are. And the scene ends. Then we see the boys coming up on this where they're in some old warehouse. Guns up ready. And they come upon this guy who's bleeding out he looks like he's bleeding out like from Yeah,
Berly:I thought he was a goner. It was a pool of blood
LA:and he's kind of it Yeah, and Sam so sweet Sam's like, don't worry, we got somebody on the way we're gonna, it's gonna be okay. And you were like, I don't think so Sam. Sam is tending to this guy who's leading Dean kind of runs out and you could tell he's looking for something. He's got this huge machete and decides to start cutting his forearm not his wrist or anything but cuts his forearm and yells at them, whoever he's after to come out. Which it's obviously a vampire.
Berly:Which the special effects team they did good. Don't get me wrong. They did really good with the special effects for when he cut his forearm. Yeah, they started the blood just hair too soon. It was too much of a blood drip for like that early on. Yeah, they should have started it like two seconds. Not even two seconds. Like one second later. Yeah. Once he was able to like apply a little bit of pressure. I agree. I think there was probably a hose behind the machete. And that that's where it was coming from. Because there he had a sleeve pulled back. I don't think it was coming from his arm. No, but it looked really good. They just started it a little too soon. Yeah, that looks so good. I'm paying attention to the special effects because there's so much more special effects. Yeah, you know, this season?
LA:Well in this one. I mean, just we'll talk more about it. But like just the shots and everything. Oh, good. So we see this blonde pop out, covered in blood all over her mouth. And she comes up to Dean. It was harmony from Buffy the Vampire. Yeah. You said that same actress. As soon as you said it. I was like, oh, that sounds so familiar. And she looked familiar, but like, in my mind, I couldn't place her as harmony.
Berly:She wasn't like a popular character. She was kind of a ditzy blonde. Yeah. And she wasn't in that many episodes, but I remembered it. Yeah. She was like spikes girlfriend were a little bit after she got turned.
LA:Did you know Dolly Parton was a producer of Buffy.
Berly:She did the show, too. I knew she was of the movie. Oh, see, I knew the opposite. Maybe neither of us. No, no, I
LA:read it. So I read a quote from Michelle Sarah Michelle Gellar about it.
Berly:Okay. I think she was involved in the movie as well.
LA:Okay. Well, Dean bleeding out of his arm, asks this vampire who we learn her name is Lucy where her nest is? And she just she doesn't answer him. But she like lunges at him attacks them. And I mean, she's at his neck. And I was like, Oh my God, and he pulls out a syringe and stabs or not stabs, like, injects her in her throat. She almost got it. He had some like, I feel like there was a nick there. Yeah, on his throat. But she immediately falls to the ground. And then we see her tied up. And she wakes up. The guys start interrogating her and she tells them that she took something and she just can't come down off of it. And they're like, Honey, sweet, sweet honey. Yeah, it is.
Berly:It was heartbreaking. It really was. It was so sad. And it kind of reminded me of Madison. How she didn't remember anything and she didn't believe them. This is kind of a little different cuz she remembered stuff. She just was thoroughly convinced she was hallucinating and high and just couldn't get the drug out of her system. Yeah, it was so sad.
LA:She tells him that she was at Spyder which is a club and some guy was buying drinks. She remembered his name was deacon or Dixon. He told her this was something new is gonna blow her mind and dropped a couple drops into her drink. She drank it. And after that she's been hallucinating and she just can't come down. She thought they were ru fees. They went back to his place. He went off to get her something to eat. But she said she was so hungry. She took off. The next thing. She knew she was tied up there. And that's all she remembers. At some point. Dean is like, okay, Wavy Gravy tour, which I was like, what
Berly:is that? Do we Google it?
LA:I mean, I'm sure it just means like crazy. But I wrote it wrote it down because I was like, I've never heard that before. But
Berly:it was an American entertainer, Wavy Gravy.
LA:Are they crazy? Are they a vampire?
Berly:He looks like a clown.
LA:Okay, Dean informs her that she's already killed three people
Berly:peace activist best known for his role at Woodstock.
LA:Well, that doesn't seem like an appropriate nickname for her. Dean's a little confused. It's okay. Yeah. So she's killed three people. And she's like, No way. No way. Those were hallucinations. This this is the drug that he gave me. The boys kind of walk off and Sam of course is like this poor girl and Dean says, you know, we we've got to. We've got to do what we have to do. Now. We don't have a choice. Yeah, we don't see it. But we hear her upset and US slice and silence. And I said this is why we don't do drugs or take drinks from strain. yours. Yes, be smarter when you're out. Don't do drugs and keep your drink with you at all times. Take it to the bathroom. I don't care.
Berly:If you do drugs know what they are. Don't let somebody just say, Hey, this is some new shit. Let me put it in your drink and be like, okay, yeah, use drugs safely. Safety for safety.
LA:We see then we see Gordon and Kubrick's back with Gordon. And they're interrogating the guy from the beginning, who was at a pool of blood that we did not think was gonna make it. Yeah. He lived. Yeah. He tells them about the two guys that came in and Gordon asked him for a description and the guy said like one of them was really tall. And that was like, oh, Gordon needed. Sam is the only really tall guy. We're after him. We got him. The boys are actually at Club spider investigating. And Sam mentions that three Blondes have gone missing from this club. And they actually find a guy dropping the he's about to drop the blood in this girl's mouth, which it looks like a parking garage. Kind of like right off an alley.
Berly:Yeah, yeah. That was like an alleyway next to a parking. Yeah.
LA:And he's holding it up about to drop it in her mouth and Dean comes in and punches him out. Which it looked real close. Like it may have gotten under which I guess she could have spit it out.
Berly:I think it showed her like wipe her cheek. Okay, that like it fell to the side. Yeah.
LA:And Dean, Dean gets in a tussle with a guy. Sweet Sam gets the girl out of there to safety. And as they're done with the the one guy after Sam beat him up, they head out in the alley and who do we see? It's Gordon Kubrick come in for him. And guns ablaze. gordos got that gun up. Yeah, he's ready. He shoot. And I think they both like, let out a whole clip at them and had to reload. They're kind of hiding behind a trash compactor or thing or whatever. And Dean says he's gonna throw them off. He's gonna run the other direction and distract them. And he does it and Cooper goes after him. But not Gordon, because Gordon doesn't want him he doesn't give a shit. Gordon knows who's at Hilton. Hmm. He's came off that Sammy. As Gordon searching for Sam, out of nowhere, that dealer knocks out Gordon, like in the alleyway which that was a turn for me. I was like, Well, who is the sky? When they're back at the motels. Sam is mad at Dean and is like, what are you thinking like running straight into the guns? And he's like, What can I say? I'm a badass? Yeah, of course. Dean calls Bella to confront her and be like, What the hell you told Gordon our location. And he's like, just so you know, when this is all over? I'm gonna kill you. And she's like, You're not serious. And he's like, Listen to my voice. And tell me I'm not serious. And like, just hangs up on her.
Berly:She's scared. Yeah, after that call.
LA:Yeah. I was kind of surprised that she was like, I don't know serious. She's been so confident the whole time. So this was like the the first moment we kind of see her be a little rolling rubble wavered
Berly:a little bit. Yeah. Like, honestly scared like she wasn't even scared at all with Gordon in the grind. Yeah, but Dean actually got to her a little bit. Yeah, I
LA:was so impressed with how she handled Gordon.
Berly:I think that's the difference between Bella and Ruby Bella. I wouldn't mind being Bella. I'm not saying its goals or anything. But like, I wouldn't mind being Bella. I think I'd feel like a badass if I was Bella, because she's Ruby hasn't really given me anything to go on.
LA:She's a demon.
Berly:She's a demon and she just pops in is like I know more than you and then disappears.
LA:If she's smart. You don't.
Berly:I know nothing about who she is. Other than she thinks she knows more than everybody else
LA:in her defense that we didn't know much about Bella until this last episode before this. Still, I'm telling you, it's because she's British. Okay, okay. Just believe me. I believe you. I swear one day we're gonna be watching something else that's similar. And you'll be like, What is the deal? And oh my gosh, because you're welcome Brits. Okay, so we see now we see Gordon tied up for some reason fully clothed.
Berly:This is the second time we've seen a fine ass man tied up on a bed or bedframe what have you spread eagle? fully clothed? Yeah. What the fuck?
LA:Why? I like an explanation. Yeah. And an apology.
Berly:I haven't seen Sterling topless once. Not once. In this episode. I've seen him topless. I know how Google works, but I have not seen it once in this show.
LA:Yeah, we were robbed. Like, yeah, robbed.
Berly:I did. Like why are you going to tie him up like that? And you're not going to cut open his T shirt. Yeah, you're the worst vampire villain ever or just sticks in? Yeah, what the hell.
LA:Anyway,
Berly:do you put a scene ever?
LA:I didn't realize As His name was Dixon, the dealer I kept writing him down as the dealer that until
Berly:that double D dealer Dixon
LA:Deacon, dealer to the I can't say Deacon Diller
Berly:Deluxe didn't say that three times. So it's
LA:D it's actually Dixon that hasn't tied up, twist. Like it's not really a twist.
Berly:I was about to say we kind of knew what was happening.
LA:Anyway, we see Dixon going around with this jar, like feeding these two girls that are chained up from the ceiling, like in shackles, and he's feeding them blood. They're clearly turned and like dying of hunger
Berly:to straw. They had tear marks down their face. And makeup was so good. I was like, oh, yeah, it was.
LA:I felt really bad for them. Yeah. And Dixon starts explaining to Gordon that he's so excited that he has him here because he's notorious for killing his kind. People like him killed his daughter. He shows a picture that looks like it's from like the 1800s.
Berly:Yeah, it was like the brown sepia base. She had on the like, big, bushy gown type thing. And she looked really young. Like, yeah, she looked like 1213. So Dixon, why are you going around kidnapping these 20 year olds and turning them vampires and saying you're trying to recreate your daughter? Yeah, for centuries for centuries, clearly. And he's like talking about his family and everything. I'm like them. Where are they? Clearly you have not worked out the formula for this thing, Dixon? How was Dixon still alive?
LA:He's not a good vampire. He's
Berly:not a good vampire at all. Worst vampire ever
LA:right?
Berly:God Dixon Get it together.
LA:Go Well, Gordon taunts him and goes right at him and says daughters, more like Fang horse. Gordon is just ruthless ripping a new one. Like he's just not even caring. I thought doesn't give up but
Berly:that he's gonna be like True Blood and be like thing bangers.
LA:Oh my God. Don't even get me started on that. For some reason Dixon decides that he's gonna go out to get them lunch or something to eat a person. And but before he does, after Gordon's comment, he cuts Gordon's forearm and his own and then puts them together so that he can turn Gordon which is like Gordon's worst nightmare. And we
Berly:decided that could have been sexier like diksa could have built his own lip and then kissed Gordon instead. Yeah, that would have been nice. That would have been sexy I
LA:would have I would have enjoyed that
Berly:you're gonna have him fully clothed and then not give us a sexy turning him seen.
LA:I feel like at this point, when we're talking I get where the one our one listener wrote in and was instead call this fringe. Yeah,
Berly:we're unhinged and creepy and perverted is no a different listener called this topic creepy and perverted. We've been in a bad way. Yes. They meant it in a bad way. Oh, our listener he called us unhinged. did not. I like I appreciate she too is unhinged. And she she enjoys the unhinged content was a person who called us creepy and perverted. I think they meant it as an insult. Oh, okay. But I kind of was like, well, thanks.
LA:Yeah. Javon? No, I don't take it though. I would say, Hey, come on. We're just trying to be funny here. Right? Take it with a grain of salt bitch.
Berly:I seriously mean only about 85% of the things I say.
LA:Yeah, I probably I'm probably more like at 75. But anyway, appreciate the listening.
Berly:So Gordon has been turned is where he left? Yes, yeah.
LA:Bella calls Dean and says, Hey, you know, I don't, she doesn't want to die. And she knows Dino come after. So she says an exchange. How about I give you a tip. I know Gordon's exact location. And he agrees.
Berly:She also tells him that the way she was able to get it was using her talking board. So she got spirits to tell her where they are. Yeah, that was a little weird. That's how she finds all her occult objects that she ends up selling. If she's gonna Yeah, she told us that in the rabbit's foot episode. It makes her a little hokey to me, then this whole season is hokey, which we're going to talk about later. Because this is one of the things I it's one of my adore things. So okay, well, she said that and she said the Spirit did tell me to give you a message. Pack up, run away. Don't go after Gordon. She was like so do with that what you will,
LA:but what do they do? Ignore it what we see Gordon and he's still he's instead of being like spread eagle on the bed springs or whatever he was earlier. He's hanging from the ceiling like the girls were. But his eyes have like so Cool somewhat, almost looks like red kind of running through the whites of his eyes like, Gordon,
Berly:his first minute as a vampire was way better than Dixon this entire episode.
LA:I mean, honestly, Gordon's like the best vampire. Yeah, on the show. He's, I mean, I know. It's like his worst nightmare but, man, he was good. He brought he hid now that he's like, got the vampire strength breaks free of the chains in which I'm like, why couldn't the girls do that? Just because he's a man. He's
Berly:supposed to be stronger. fism that's why
LA:after he breaks free he's any light he's seeing is really bothering him. You can tell it's he has he's starting to realize like he has that sensitivity to light. He has a stigmatism now. He does. Yeah, both eyes. He walks out into the street sees this guy over there changing his tire. He can hear the guy's heartbeat. And this guy's pretty healthy. He must be some sort of athlete because he's got a steady heartbeat.
Berly:He was doing a lot of work. Yeah, changing that tire. But his heartbeat was solid. Yeah.
LA:Good for him. Yeah. Unfortunately, Gordon sees himself in this window of a store. And he sees his vampire teeth come in. Yeah. And as the guy gets into his car after he's done all that work and changed his tire and he's ready to go. Gordon's in the backseat and kills him.
Berly:We get our 11th Blood splooge Yep, of this supernatural series. Thanks to Gordon.
LA:So Gordon Gordon takes off the boys end up coming to the the nest, Dixon's nest where he had the girls, Dixon is there, Boo hooing. And just saying he talking about how he failed again, I guess that is getting a family together. He should have never gone after Gordon.
Berly:It's been 200 years that I just can't get it together, guys. Well, you can't get
LA:your family together. After Gordon, who's like the best hunter ever? Well, I shouldn't say the best ever, but like he's pretty good hunter, like you knew him. You knew him.
Berly:I mean, you knew exactly who it was. That's why you attacked him,
LA:Dixon and Dixon's like I was just desperate. Do you know what it's like to be desperate? And this is where he addresses Dean particularly, and says, you know, don't you know what it's like to not care to just give up. And of course, we know Dean completely understands. And as dean and Dixon are having this exchange, Sam is over checking the girls and the girls heads are gone. It's just their bodies hanging from the shackles without
Berly:a head, which they were begging Gordon to help them before he left. I forgot about I mean, technically he did. True. What else was he going to do?
LA:Yeah, yeah. Well, Sam actually realizes that their heads were not cut off. They were ripped off of their bodies, which they both kind of look at Dixon and Nixon's, like, it wasn't me. I knew it.
Berly:Which this reminds me the last time we had an episode with Gordon, I was saying how I wanted if he's gonna be like, angry and all this, like I wanted, like a whole, like, raw. And it's like, Okay, we got that. But it was off camera fully clothed, and it wasn't him ripping his clothes off. It was him ripping a head off. Yeah. So it's like the monkey paw. Like I kind of got what I wanted, but I didn't.
LA:Yeah, I agree. Sorry. No. After Gordon kills the guy in the car. He goes to Kubrick. He's at his house, or, Oh, it's his RV or sorry, yeah. And he tells him he's been turned. And Kubrick tells him You know what that means? Like, you know what I have to do? But Gordon tries to negotiate with him that I get what you're saying, but please let me just do this. One last thing. Like, let me kill Sam, and then I'll let you kill me. But Kubrick tries to get get one up on him and come up, comes up behind him with a knife and Gordon turns around and punches straight through Kubrick. Yeah, like straight through his gut, killing it. We were
Berly:like, what just happened? Because it just showed Kubrick frozen and you heard this noise. And then Gordon lifted up his hand and it was covered in blood and we were like, Oh, shit. Yeah, it was bad. Yeah.
LA:Oh, my by Kubrick back at the motel, the boys that have their beds like, pushed up against the windows, which I didn't get until it was like the mattresses later on. I guess it was for the scent.
Berly:Or it was to keep Gordon from shoot sniper shooting through the windows like he did in that one episode. Yeah.
LA:Okay.
Berly:I don't know they did. They did know they Dixon did tell them that he turned Gordon at this point. So they did know that they were dealing with a vampire Dixon. Dixon Gordon now. They killed Dixon right
LA:I mean, I assume they didn't show up. I don't think they did. Yeah, yeah. So yeah, good riddance. Yeah, he was not,
Berly:not a good vampire. I
LA:mean, guy get it together, dropping the ball left and right. Well, Sam asks Dean for his phone and says that without the SIM cards, and without the phones, Gordon can't really track them, take some cards out, crushes the cell phones. And Dean's tells Sam, he's gonna go after him. Sam stays here. You're safe here. He's not after me. And he's turbocharged now which I thought it was funny. He called him turbocharged. And of course, they go into this argument about Dean's attitude. Sam is like, I know you're scared. I know you. I've followed you around my whole life. I've always wanted to be like my big brother. And this is exactly how you act when you're terrified. And I wrote again, they're so in love with each other.
Berly:The observation I had on this, which I don't know if I'm following it or not, this could be something I just created in my head. But we were talking about how, you know, season one was the monster of the week, self enclosed episodes, for the most part. And then season two was grief and really sad. There were a lot of sad episodes in season two. And, you know, that was the overarching thing was grief. And that this season has been really campy, and sometimes even overreacted. And during Sam speech, I was like, holy shit. It makes sense. That it's can't be and overreacted because that's what Dean's doing. Oh, yeah. You know, he's overacting. He's overdoing the threesomes I'm a slide. I'm having fun. I'm gonna go out and Sam's finally calling him on it right that you're putting on a show. And now I'm like, Oh my God. That's genius.
LA:Well, and he even tells him he's like, I just want like, I think deeds, like what do you want for me? And Sam says, I want you to drop the act and be my big brother again.
Berly:I was crying. I know. I know. I'm such.
LA:But they did. So I mean, once again, Jared. Tears, little tears in his eyes. It was so good. I was tearing up. Yeah. And after his speech to Dean Dean's like Oh, all right. Well, cool. Alright, fine. Well, hold up in here. Wait through the night together. And so he he listens to his little bro. Oh, for once. But as they're sitting there, Gordon calls Dean which seems like how the hell did he get this number they bought new cell phones. Dean asks him and Gordon says that his sent was all over the cell phone store but he doesn't have his sent now. he taunts him and puts a phone he has a girl now shackled and tied up to the ceiling to or tied from the ceiling. And she puts the phone up to her and she's like, you know, please help me whatever. And he knows Dean's a soccer like the two boys like they're out. They're out to save people like they're they don't want to let this girl die. And he Gordon gives them his location. Dean tells them he's like you don't have to do this Gordon like that. You're still a hunter. And Gordon says no, I'm a monster and hangs up. They go to the address that was given. Dean's got the Colton hands Sam has a machete they see the girl she's actually on the ground now just kind of tied up and gagged. They release her and they're running out and I mean kudos to Gordon for the timing on this because he lets two different doors go down like almost like garage doors go down. Or no it's just one Yeah, as soon as Dean which also like you didn't know this was how it was gonna play out but it played out perfectly for Gordon But Dean has the girl in his arms running before Sam he gets out as soon as he gets out the door goes down and Sam is trapped inside by himself. And this is probably one of the best scenes
Berly:I think in the show of all really Kim manners directed this episode and it just the direction was phenomenal. Yeah, I mean the shots during the scene you were the one commenting on it while we were watching it but you were right yeah, we were just hooked like I had to get up I didn't have to I chose to get up and we like shut off as many lights as we could with La still being able to see to take notes because it was just so good.
LA:Well it it was just like so it was total like night vision but also like in that almost like orb like vision. And you know normally animalistic Yeah, you know normally you night vision screen but it was read because he's a vampire now so and I mean it was crystal clear. Gordon could see everything Sam was doing. Sam couldn't see a thing just had the machete out kind of like tiptoeing around like just feeling around. But the whole time Gordon and him are talking Gordon is just giving us great monologue really for him, saying he's a great villain. He just says Sam has no idea the things Gordon has faced no idea what he's been through. He's lost everything. None of that matters now because it's worth it to Gordon. Because now he's gonna get to kill the most dangerous thing he's ever hunted. And once again, he tells Sam, he's not human, which I'm like, as he's saying this to sweet little Sam, you're like, Gordon, don't you get it? Like you're not right.
Berly:Look at those puppy dog eyes.
LA:I mean, he just teared up those big bro.
Berly:Just crying like two hours ago.
LA:Not that you know that. But whatever. Sam tries to reason with him again. And he's like, you know, you're not you don't have to be this. You're not bad. Like, you didn't kill that girl. Look at that. Gordon says, No, I did something much worse. On the last, yeah. And that's when it switches to Dean. And he's in this little out. It looks like he was trapped in a small space. Am I wrong? And then
Berly:he wasn't he wasn't trapped. It was on the other side of that garage door. But he was trying to find a way back in. So it was like a closet thing. I think he was going in there trying to find a window or a weak point in the wall or something you want to get back in to go help Sam.
LA:Yeah, so this quote from Gordon was perfectly done. Because as Dean's trying to like break back into this warehouse or whatever it is. The girl attacks Dean, and we realized that Gordon turned her, which again, is like Gordon's worst nightmare is to become one of these things. And then to make somebody else want to like, it's just insane.
Berly:But we had this hint, a few episodes ago, or not a few episodes ago, a long time ago, I think it was hunted where he was talking about tormenting a demon in order to get more information about Sam. And they asked, Well, what happened to the person that the demon was possessing? And he just coldly was like, they didn't make it. So he uses a means to an end. And he doesn't have a problem if there's casualties. Yeah, well, so it's still Gordon. I mean, that's still something Gordon would do. You know,
LA:right. Well, I guess he's a little like Dean, and the fact that he's like, don't give a shit about myself, but I'm gonna get the job done. Yeah. And she attacks, Dean, but it's pretty quick. He pulls out the colt, and shoots her.
Berly:Cool, cool death scene with the Colt. Yeah, definitely a step up from season one when John Winchester shot that vampire in the head. Yeah,
LA:I mean, she she kind of like, did somewhat of a slow death, but it was cool. That sounds terrible. Hey, it was cool.
Berly:It was we
LA:go back to Gordon and Sam and Sam. Or I'm sorry, not Sam Gordon is still on his monologue saying that Sam has fooled a lot of people. And Gordon is planning to kill Sam. It's going to be the best thing he's ever done and then kill himself. Makes sense for Gore, which I mean, honestly, Gordon could have still been going out and being a hunter, but I get like he's he doesn't want to be this. It's like the worst thing ever. Even though he's using it to his advantage but whatever. After he says this and he sees Sam right in front of him through a wall. He busts through the wall slamming Sam onto the ground. The machete falls.
Berly:Gordon like grabbed the machete. It was within reaching distance. It was so fast. Yeah, this fight scene we had to rewind it. It was such a good fight scene. But yeah, he tackles Sam through the wall. Sam drops the machete and Gordon like grabbed it and threw it away from him. Yeah, within not even a second of hitting the floor. Right?
LA:Which if Gordon really wanted to kill him, he could have killed him in that moment. Whatever Right?
Berly:Like why not pick up the machete and chop off Sam's head? Exactly.
LA:Come on, Gordon. Instead,
Berly:he had to get that rage out.
LA:He threw it away. And somehow Dean broke through, like starts to shoot the Colt Gordon, but Gordon gets the best of him and slams him up against another wall and starts feeding on Dean. Which I was like,
Berly:I was about to say, You screamed you're like
LA:Sam gets himself up and throws gets Gordon off of Dean and somehow gets a hold of this bar. This thing of barbed wire. It's like almost like double barbed wire. Yes.
Berly:Like it was thick. It was like that razor razor wire, that razor barbed wire. Yeah, let's
LA:they have like at the top of jail, jail fences or whatever. And he throws it around Gordon's neck, and it's like a moment. I mean, Sam's hands are bleeding from just being there handed on this thing the blades, the blades are cutting into to Gordon's throat. And as you mentioned, Gordon's hands are free. Yeah. But they're both looking straight in each other's eyes. And Sam just keeps going and like cutting into his throat until he's decapitated.
Berly:And it's it took a while
LA:and then my only thought is like I feel like In that moment, Gordon is like trying to be like, do it. See I was right. You are what I said, Oh, I didn't think that's what I was thinking. He's like, see, you are what I said you are? Yeah. But it's been his whole mission to stop him. And it's like, I feel like he could have done something.
Berly:I feel like he gave up. Yeah. Because yeah, he didn't do he did his hands were free. He could have fought back, right. And it's like, he just stood there and let it happen.
LA:But after Gordon's head pops off, yeah, because it really popped off. The boys kind of stand up and Diems finally seeing what happened. And there's a headless Gordon standing there. And he's a little surprised, gives Sam a little surprise look and says, you know, was that the smartest thing to do going after a supercharged vampire with no weapon, a little reckless? Since, I mean, Sam has been giving him so much shit. So he's got to give it back. And the next scene, they are stopped somewhere a side of the road or whatever. And Dean's working on the engine of the baby. And he kind of pauses and tells Sam to come over and starts teaching him about the engine telling him making sure he knows the parts, the certain parts and whatnot. Sam asks, you know, what, what's this lesson? What's the teaching all about all of a sudden, and Dean tells him, these are things you're going to need to know in the future, which I feel like this is like Dean telling Sam like, he, like he gets it. But he also, like, if it does happen, if and when it does happen. I want you to be okay. So this is like my way of telling you like, I get it, I guess
Berly:it was almost like a compromised like, right? I'm not, I'm not acting like I'm not going to die. I still know I'm going to die. But I can still be your big brother and quit putting on the big act while also accepting that I'm going to die. Yeah.
LA:Because he will. And that's what he says. He says, you know, you're gonna need to know these things in the future. And besides, it's my job right to show my little brother the ropes. So he let's say I'm takeover working on the engine and he sits on the cooler next to him and like cracks beer, and he's like, you know, put a little more shoulder into it. And then
Berly:it was so good. It was a good one. Yeah, this was seriously my favorite episode since tall tales. Yeah, I
LA:think so. I agree.
Berly:Gore. Holy shit. Oh, there was quite a bit. Yeah. We had the bloods splurge, we had the blood spill from the guy's neck. We had lots of decapitations going on? I would say the goriest was Gordon's decapitation at the end. Absolutely. Yeah. That was a lot really
LA:well, and just like you get to see his whole face through the whole time of cutting through his dead. Yikes. Yeah.
Berly:But not over the top. No, it was
LA:Yeah, well done. Really well done.
Berly:It was all really well done shot so well. Oh, yeah. Kim Kim matters. He's also directed Season One dead in the water. Bugs. Oh, Scarecrow shadow. We both really like shadow and devils trap. We both really like
LA:when you said a scarecrow. I can see similarity. Scarecrow
Berly:was one of your favorites. Yeah. And then season two he did in my time of dying. Children shouldn't play with dead things. No Exit houses of the holy heart. And all hell breaks loose. Part Two. Oh, wow. Okay, he's good.
LA:I'd be curious to know if we ever went back to see like how many episodes we talked about before we started mentioning the directors. Yeah. To see if because we didn't know him more so than
Berly:anybody else. Yeah. Yeah. Because those those were a lot of our favorites. Yeah. From season one and season two. Yeah, we noticed last season that we talk a lot about shots and this shot and that shot in LA was like we really should start paying more attention to who the directors are. So we're trying to do better. Sometimes our beverages don't get the best of us and we forget. So we apologize for that. But we're trying to do better about that because we really do appreciate those kinds of things. And then it was written by Sarah gamble. In season one she did a lot of the similar episode she did dead in the water faith, Nightmare salvation, and season two Bloodlust crossroad blues houses of the holy heart. All hell breaks loose part one. Nice. Yeah, I agree. I agree the way it was shot. It was really well done. Yeah. And then one of the things I adored of this episode was Sterling K Brown, its performance just the levels or not levels, the layers that he has brought to this character throughout season two, and into season three, just has made him one of the most interesting characters we've met so far. Like if they do a reboot, what I hope they do if they do a reboot is I hope they do like a mini series of one shots where it's like a standalone thing. I don't know where they like fill in some gaps and I would lie like to see more of Gordon, becoming a hunter. Like we know a little bit about backstory that his sister got turned into a vampire. And he had to kill his sister. But, like, I would like to see a little more of him. Maybe taking a similar journey as Sam, where he started out as like a sweet sympathetic guy and got turned into this cold, almost cold blooded killer. You know, I don't know something, I think that that would be interesting.
LA:I feel like they could have done a whole total spin off with him. You know, if they really wanted to,
Berly:if they really wanted to, they could have but I think that it would just be interesting. If they're gonna do a reboot, like to come back. And just like some of these characters that were just intriguing. Just give us a little bit more, just give us an episode dedicated to that one character, like truly dedicated to that character.
LA:I would watch a spin off with him, but like,
Berly:it'd be you would watch anything with him. But I would
LA:like to see like you're saying like his origin story up, and then it meets up to him playing him again.
Berly:Yeah, like, I want to see him turn into this cold blooded thing that he's doing right, because there's obviously layers to this guy. Yeah, at least that's how Sterling K brown played it.
LA:Oh, so good. I mean, I think of all the guest stars so far, like he sticks out in my mind the most so far, except for Richard Speight, Jr. I've only seen him on one episode, obviously. One episode. I know he's coming more. I mean, I know he's gonna be on more.
Berly:You did that. I didn't say anything. All right. All right. So for the lore, I didn't want us to be repetitive because you've already talked quite a bit about vampires in lore from previous episodes. So what I decided to go with was real life vampire crimes. Okay, this is an article from mental floss.com and love Mental Floss. So it says While there's no real evidence to prove the existence of vampires, murderers and other nefarious types have been blaming their evil deeds on blood lust for more than 400 years, here are some examples. Number one, Countess Elizabeth Bathory.
LA:Oh, I know about her. Oh, yeah.
Berly:I'm pretty sure a few I think it was she wasn't she featured in American Horror Story.
LA:I think so. Or something.
Berly:No, it wasn't her. It was somebody No, that was a New Orleans person. Nevermind. So an early adapter of the vampire defense was Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a member of the Hungarian royal family whose cruelty toward her female servants was said to have included drenching them in water and leaving them to freeze to death outside in the winter. But it wasn't until 1609 following the murder of a young noble woman which Bathory staged to look like a suicide that she was made accountable for her crimes. While it's difficult to separate fact from fiction. The legend surrounding her suggests that she killed more than 650 women and bathed in their blood, which she believed to have restorative powers. So maybe they did base that character off of her Bathory and four of her servants were eventually charged with 80 counts of murder, though the Countess died while under house arrest before ever being brought to trial. And the book, Dracula was a woman. Historian Raymond T. McNally claims that Bathory was part of the inspiration for Bram Stoker's famous bloodsucker. Hmm, never heard that mean either. Next up, we've got Fritz Harriman. H A R M A N N. Okay. He's also known as the vampire of Hanover. Okay. He was one of the world's first serial killers, and one of its most prolific between 1918 and 1924. He murdered at least two dozen people, many of whom he killed by biting through their necks. Can you imagine dying that way?
LA:No, I don't want to think about it suck. Haha. Oh my god.
Berly:On December 19 19 2004. He was sentenced to death by guillotine for his crimes. He was beheaded on April 15 1925. So that scientists could study his brain his head was preserved in a jar. It is kept at a medical school in Germany.
LA:Oh, it's Oh, wow. Oh, okay.
Berly:Okay, so now we have James P. Reva Riva Riba? Yeah, he was just 23 years. years old when he killed his wheelchair bound grandmother in Massachusetts in 1980, stabbing her repeatedly and shooting her four times through the heart with bullets he had painted gold. That's a little overkill. In order to cover up the crime he then burned down her house. When questioned, he claimed that he was a 700 year old vampire who killed his grandmother in order to drink her blood. He later changed his story saying that he had acted in self defense. He believed his grandmother was a vampire, and that she was using an icepick to drain his blood at night. In 1981, he was sentenced to life in prison for second degree murder and arson. This is second this is depressing.
LA:Shit. There was motive No, this should have been first degree stabbing am shooting her that much. I mean combined.
Berly:Yeah, yeah, he planned you painted bullets beforehand.
LA:zactly. Come on. That's bullshit. Whatever, at least is in jail for life.
Berly:Yeah. Now we've got Roderick Farrell. Roleplaying crossed into real life for Vampire Killer. Roderick Farrell in 1996 when the teenage leader of a vampire clan brought a few of his followers from Murray, Kentucky, to Eunice Florida, to murder the parents of his girlfriend Heather so that she could be initiated into his coven. After beating Heather's father with a crowbar, Ferrell and a friend used cigarettes to burn a v into his chest. Upon his arrest, Ferrell told police that they would never be able to contain him because he was an all powerful 500 year old vampire named the psagot. He wasn't federal became the county's youngest prisoner on death row in 1998. Though his sentence has since been commuted to life without parole. Good. And last we have Josephine Smith, a shuttered Hooters restaurant may not be the first place you think of as a vampire lair. But it's where 22 year old Josephine Smith attacked a 69 year old homeless man in 2011 as he slept in St. Petersburg, Florida, Smith allegedly told the man that I am a vampire. I am going to eat you before she bit off pieces of his face. Lips and arm says the victim managed to escape and call the police who found Smith covered in blood at the crime scene with no recollection of the incident. She must have been high on bath salts. Wasn't there somebody it was high salts in Florida. Yeah,
LA:yeah. It was a guy that yeah, he like left his family's dinner and just rolled up on some this couple in their garage and like killed the guy eating and tried to eat them. Yeah, they came like the police came up and he was like eating his face. Yeah, it's crazy.
Berly:Fortunately, all of these people were caught.
LA:Thank goodness. All right, and we've got our quote to close it out. Dean says, What do you want me to do? Sam? Ha. sit around all day writing sad poems about how I'm gonna die. You know what? I got one. What rhymes with Shut up Sam? Cheers here.
Berly:Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
LA:Follow us on Twitter or Instagram. leave a review and let us know how we can get involved in the fandom. This was fun shirt. And only this bitch
