The Third Man (6x3)

Berly and LA recap the season six Supernatural episode, The Third Man.  Over drinks, they'll discuss lore, gore, and what they adore about the Winchesters and their adventures. Now, let's get tipsy!  CW/TW for violent and lewd commentary; listeners beware! 🔞

Summary: Berly and LA discuss the latest episode of Supernatural, focusing on the gore and violence, identity, and character development. They also delve into various mysteries in the show, including the Campbell compound, recent deaths with unusual circumstances, and the dynamics between angels and hunters. The conversation turns to the effects of Hell on the Winchester brothers, particularly Sam and Dean, with LA arguing that Sam's experience in Hell has changed him and Berly suggesting that Dean's time in Hell has made him more paranoid and controlling. Both speakers highlight the emotional toll that Hell has taken on the brothers and how it has altered their dynamic.

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series. I'm

LA: 0:20

LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Hello, la. Hey, Burley. Last episode was two and a half men. I think you and I were both very excited for to be like Three Men and a lady but it was about

Berly: 0:36

Three Men and a Baby baby.

LA: 0:38

But they had lady too, right. We got older. Yeah. I love those movies. Anyway, Sam investigates a case about missing babies whose parents are being murdered. At one of the crime scenes he discovers a baby that was left behind and calls Dean for help. reluctant to leave his Lisa and Ben Dean finally agrees to meet Sam and surprises his brother with how parental he has become in his step daddy ways. The brothers take the baby to Samuel guests start Mitch palagi from what season was hand

Berly: 1:13

Season Four Four okay. The song remains the same. Yeah,

LA: 1:17

granddaddy Samuel, and he decides to raise it as a hunter which infuriates deem, not having it. However, before they can decide the baby's future, a shapeshifter breaks in and attempts to kidnap the baby. The

Berly: 1:32

Alpha. Yeah, who didn't need to splooge his skin off everywhere. Yeah,

LA: 1:37

neither. Neither did the baby. Oh, no,

Berly: 1:39

the baby did the baby did. But the Alpha didn't. We didn't even have to change his clothes. Just morphs. Yeah, like magic. Well, today's episode, we're very happy to talk about, we actually ended up taking like 30 minutes after watching the episode before we got our asses up here to chat. It's called The Third Man. And it's the third episode of season six. Cool lover. It aired originally, on October 8 2010. The episode starts out where there's a cop and he's looking in the mirror and he's checking himself out. He's really proud of the shaving job he did until he blocked his face with a towel and notices. Oh, I nicked my face. Then he looks at the mirror and sees hidden Nick his face in one place. There's another NIC on his face. And it looks really weird. So he does the only reasonable thing and leans forward in the mirror and just starts pulling it apart.

LA: 2:37

He like touched it and then it's like slit chunky skin just like slid away.

Berly: 2:43

Is that what he did? I thought he was like pulling it apart? Because like what are you doing?

LA: 2:47

No, because like he touched it and then he realized it was like moving away from the wound. And then he was just pulled the whole chunk

Berly: 2:54

off. You just Yeah. peeled off just a piece of his cheek just like this little oval section of his cheek just sloths off as he's like pulling it apart in his face. And he's like, oh, and throws it in the sink.

LA: 3:07

It's way better than I would have been like, right?

Berly: 3:11

Like, oh, no, this well as he's like investigating this now open, gaping wound on his cheek. He looks down was like oh fuck and his heart like in his chest is bleeding through his shirt rapidly.

LA: 3:27

And then on his back and

Berly: 3:28

then we see it's happening on his back and then his partner is behind him messing around in his locker. And he turns around and sees his partner is like, oh my god, bro. Are you okay? And he turns around, he's got blood in his mouth. blood coming out of his blood. His shirt is white shirt is essentially red at this point. He looks at his partner and goes, I think I'm bleeding before he liquefies, apparently. And we get our 32nd Blood splooge of the supernatural series as his clothes I guess just fall to the floor and spray blood all over his partner shoes.

LA: 4:09

Everything that had bones or everything. It's just Yeah, I mean, it's just this is a blob. Yeah, on the floor. Yeah,

Berly: 4:17

it was just mush. It just it looked like that raw meat that Jack ate and that metamorphosis episode. Yep. And later on in the episode when they're walking through the morgue, Sam does explain that his bones like literally everything liquefied. But we did get a blood split out of it. It's true. It's been a while. Yeah. After a brief hesitation. His partner falls back against the locker like, oh, it was a brief hesitation. But it was long enough that I was like, why isn't he reacting? Yeah. I mean, granted, maybe you're standing there trying to figure out what the fuck you're looking at before you are able to react or maybe the locusts were already in his brain. Maybe they were starting. They were already taking little bites. And so his reaction time was slow. Maybe it was a character choice. Let me get supernatural. Oh, I didn't pay attention to what if it's a heartbeat or wing flaps or what it is? Breaking

LA: 5:17

Glass. Oh, that and then something you think.

Berly: 5:20

Yeah. I don't know how I'm gonna How am I going to do that? Yeah. Then we get a nice little montage. Oh wait, no, no, no, no Whoa, whoa, no, no, no first we get some cleavage. Yeah, yeah,

LA: 5:37

thank you don't don't don't forget that part.

Berly: 5:40

It's an important

LA: 5:41

fact I would like to point out that whoever directed this episode, I appreciate you and thank you.

Berly: 5:48

First we cut to Lisa's bedroom, and Dean is in bed. No shirt has made he's looking good shoulders. And Lisa rolls over in his kissing him awake. And so we're just like what? So he just like took Baby out for a spin at the end of the last episode and then just came back home. Like

LA: 6:08

just a test drive.

Berly: 6:10

Dramatic conversation and this dramatic highlight of baby and all her best features and hit for him to just drive around the block and then come back. Like what's happening? So they start making out we're like, oh, we're gonna have some little morning glory. Oh, oh, what are we gonna have happen here? But

LA: 6:30

not of course not.

Berly: 6:32

Then some noises start coming into the background. And I called it I was like he's dreaming. You did?

LA: 6:37

You didn't. And I was like, wait no more for more things to happen. But you're right.

Berly: 6:43

No turns out. Dean was sleeping in baby on the side of a highway. It seemed like having

LA: 6:50

a second stream. Couldn't have gone to a restaurant. Back there. Whatever,

Berly: 6:57

whatever. Then we cut kind of back and forth between the Winchester brothers having their morning we'll say Dean didn't get any morning glory. But it seems like Sam maybe did. Yeah. So Sam he's working out and his jeans. He's working out enough to be sweaty but he's just in his jeans. So we're getting to see lots of everything and Sam. It's looking good. He has been tanning or something to self tan.

LA: 7:24

We're seeing those muscles in action. He

Berly: 7:28

is doing his push ups. He is doing his crunches. He has a pole randomly hanging from the hotel room. Do we need to know why there was a pole randomly hanging in that hotel room? La?

LA: 7:40

No, I'm not worried about it. No, no, we

Berly: 7:42

are not going to be concerned about what the fuck was that poll. Just like what he was doing. waterpipe like I just I don't know. It doesn't matter. It's not important to the plot pull ups were important. The pull ups were important to the plot, the alternating of the head in front of the poll that what is it but it doesn't matter. Let's move on to the head behind the pole, chin up, to pull up chin up to pull up that the back muscles his forearms can see the grains. It was nice. That was the plot point. That was important. Best first few minutes of it. And while this is happening, Dean is getting fast food or something like he has really close really close now. So not as important of a plot point at this at this juncture at this point in the episode. Okay. We've been drinking a bit just great. We are five minutes into the episode and we've been talking for a while.

LA: 8:42

It's I don't mind that because it's important because it never happens. I don't see enough of their skin.

Berly: 8:48

He was glistening. He was glistening. But another sign that like the sign or Sammy said while he's doing his pull ups, this chick, she's bad comes out of the bathroom. She's appreciating what she says she's like, Oh, don't stop on my behalf. He's like, it's fine. I was done. And let me tell you, Sam meant he was done in more than one way.

LA: 9:10

I was gonna say the way he said it was even like, Yeah, I'm done. Yeah, it was but final.

Berly: 9:17

And she's trying to have a conversation. She's trying to find out how much longer he's in town, but it's like, he meant it. straight face just

LA: 9:25

looking at her make her uncomfortable. Like I felt for her because I'd be like

Berly: 9:35

oh, man, so she's just like, Oh, okay. You play that mysterious card really well or something like, yeah, you and I were both like, trying to be mysterious. He's trying to get you the fuck out of this room. Yeah, Jesus. So she starts to leave and he says, Wait, like you're forgetting something and pulls out a wad of cash.

LA: 9:55

Which I mean, on her account. She was about to leave without it right? How good was that night?

Berly: 10:01

Well, I said she said it was a pretty good night. She said, Thank you, sir. Next time you're in town, it's on me. All right. What

LA: 10:09

did she say? Oh, yeah,

Berly: 10:11

she did. That's why she gave him her number to call me on call me on my night off next time is what she said.

LA: 10:17

Okay, yeah, it all came together now for the way he was treated or beforehand, which I still don't like, because that's my home. My family is but whatever. I might learn to like, this makes me I don't know.

Berly: 10:26

And then we were just like, confused because we were like, wait a minute, he made such a big thing. Whenever it was Ruby in his hotel room back in season four and Dean walked in to be all like, I don't pay for it, Dean. And we're like, well, apparently this new Sammy does right? You were all bragging about it back then. Yeah, post tell Sammy. Don't give a shit. Yeah. Who pay for hookers? He'll watch kids get tortured post tell him you don't give a fuck. I said hey on me. It's okay.

LA: 10:49

I knew I heard it. We're just gonna move past it. Edita him

Berly: 11:00

that Honey Baked Ham. Break me off a slice of that. Ooh, apparently it's worth paying for. She's willing to expense. The nails are pricey. But you know, lady, she was like, I'm willing to give up some billable hours for another. Yeah, she's

LA: 11:19

like, call me on my night off.

Berly: 11:21

Send me another bite of that. White coin.

LA: 11:24

Give it to you for free. Oh my god. Sorry. Like it. Okay. Now we go to the car waiting in the car. We're tracking people.

Berly: 11:40

So it is important though. Sam was not laid around. He threw her number away. Yeah, he like Crinkle that paper up at the top. Toss it like was like 3k Every pointer.

LA: 11:52

Sonic not a chance lady.

Berly: 11:55

And Dean has called Sam and is telling him hey, I'm almost to the Campbell compound. Isn't that what he called it? Oh, is

LA: 12:03

it? Oh, that's why you mentioned that. Yeah,

Berly: 12:05

I brought up like weird. Campbell's. They weren't in this episode.

LA: 12:10

I was wondering why you brought up randomly brought that up. And I guess I just missed that completely.

Berly: 12:14

They just confused me. Like if there's nothing against the characters of the actors. I'm just confused as to why they're here. Or how did they all meet up? I just don't understand. We need some backstory. I'm sure we'll find out eventually. But it's driving me crazy in the interim. Dean says okay, I'd like a few hours out of the Campbell compound. That sounds like No, no, no, I need you to come here instead. Because I'm on a new case. We got some new stuff going on. And I need your help here. So Dan says Pennsylvania. Yeah. Dean says, okay, hangs up. Well, then we cut to another cop and he is in a speed trap on the side of a highway. He's got his gun out, looking for somebody to pull over. And he's unimpressed with the speeders who have driving by him so far. They are not worth his time.

LA: 12:56

Yeah. When I saw this, he tracks somebody at 70. I was like, really? Yeah. He

Berly: 13:00

said you could do better than that.

LA: 13:03

I hope that's the kind of cop when I'm coming by who

Berly: 13:06

knows what the speed limit was? You know, we have speed limits, like 85.

LA: 13:10

It was like one way each way. There's no way it could have been 70.

Berly: 13:15

Anyway, it didn't impress Mr. Officer. Yeah. No, he

LA: 13:18

was he wasn't moving. He

Berly: 13:20

pulled up his big gulp. He topped it off with what was that was vodka, some?

LA: 13:24

Yeah, some sort of clear alcohol and just tossed it in his drink.

Berly: 13:30

Having a grand old time while he's doing this. We're getting another shot of him from the bushes and trees off to the side. Someone's watching someone's point of view. Must be sneaky. And they're kind of watching him over there. And then he gets a call telling him that officer Nicks has turned into liquid. And he's just like, it's done. Whatever. He died. It's fine. Like

LA: 13:54

he alluded to them covering something up. Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's usually Oh, he's dirty cop.

Berly: 13:59

We were both going, what do you do? And they did it together, whoever they are, like, they somehow did it together. He somehow has something to do with it. I don't remember exactly what the dialogue was. But it's very much like your bad guy. Like

LA: 14:12

it's done. We did it. Let's move on.

Berly: 14:14

Let it go. He hangs up. He's done with this conversation. And then the point of view from the car from the bushes like zooms into the window really quickly, and then kind of goes away. The cop just starts yelling and these giant pus filled Boyle's start popping up all over his hands all over his face and neck. And he starts like kind of making a choking noise. So you realize something's going on in his throat we find out later when they're in the morgue that the Boyle's filled his throat as well so that he couldn't breathe anymore and he basically choked and died so gross. More.

LA: 14:56

I mean, did a good job on department because it was just good. Isn't it disgusting? I was waiting for one to pop. That's

Berly: 15:03

what I was about to say. I was about to say at least they didn't have them popping and leaking. Like I don't think I could have handled that. I had to look away. Oh, it was really done. Well, it was some good gore. But yeah, like, Oh, what a way to go, man. Yuck. Sam and Dean arrived at the morgue. And like we've already said Sam is filling Dean and on the case as to what's going on and explaining to Dean that we're actually not here to look at the body of the first guy. We're here to look at the body of the second guy that's now popped up.

LA: 15:31

There is no body of the first liquefied much that's like that, like you were saying. That's when he's like bones and everything liquefied.

Berly: 15:38

So they're looking at this cop who just died with Boyle's explaining that he choked on them and everything. There's a massive gash near his collarbone never explained.

LA: 15:48

That's like, not even a gash. It's like a chunk was pretty big of skin taken out which Dean's hand kept getting in the way. Yeah, I wish they had mentioned something about that. Because otherwise it's just very strange there. Yeah, totally. And then like you mentioned the cut on his other arm.

Berly: 16:01

I assumed that was from the autopsy somehow, but like assumed it was going to be relevant that there's this open gash. That was open it wasn't it shut. Yeah. But it never came back to being relevant. Yeah. Never was mentioned. So I don't know what that was. I remember you said it looks like it was wearing a seatbelt went so maybe that's what it was the

LA: 16:19

way his seatbelt but still again, like it wouldn't have matched and even if he had boiled and stuff. I don't think it would have gone that deep. You know? Yeah. Anyway,

Berly: 16:28

so while they're looking into this body, and they're going okay, this is fucked up. What's going on? Dane says, oh, it's witches. Totally witches. This has hex written all over it and Sam's like, Ah, no, no, no, I didn't find anything. Yeah, nothing about it. Nothing about it at the scene. I don't think we're dealing with witches. Like I don't know what's going on. But there's this other guy who actually witnessed the liquified guy. It's his partner. We should go talk to him. We got to witness let's go interview him. And we're going to take our separate cars, because they're driving separately everywhere. Yeah, that was weird. Sam likes his car. We know Dean's not gonna leave his. It's weird, but it makes sense. I guess Sam's enjoying his independence whatever. As they're like, pulling onto the street. First. We see Sam pulling onto the street to the house to go interview the witness this cop and then dean like pulls out from an either side street cuts him off really quickly. I love it.

LA: 17:25

He's like, don't forget Sammy. It was really it was in the car Sam's

Berly: 17:32

like, um, were you racing me? And Dean's like, no, because I was kicking your ass.

LA: 17:40

Which okay, you don't. I was noticing in this episode. Like I feel like in all the other seasons, it was more like Dean kind of taking charge of the investigation and things like that. Tell me if I'm wrong. But then in this one, it seemed like Sammy was the one taking the lead and telling Dean things. Oh, for

Berly: 17:56

sure. It was Siamese case. Okay, Sam is the one who felt the case. He called D and called him in on it. Yeah. Right. But

LA: 18:02

like other times, I feel like that. Sam found things too. But it was always like Dean. James always like the LEA like the leader. But I felt like this time Sam was trying to Well, I mean, not even trying. He did he was the leader of this one. No, I can see that Dean letter.

Berly: 18:18

Well, I mean, Dean, Dean's been out of the game. Yeah. You know, Sam's like,

LA: 18:22

soft.

Berly: 18:24

Me sounds like said it like multiple times. He's literally been hunting all year. In fact, when he called Dean to come in on this case, Dean was shocked that he had a case against so quickly. Yeah, yeah. Now it's kind of been pointed out. Sammy is kind of going nonstop right now. Or just workout regimen is constantly working. I mean, I

LA: 18:43

just wonder how that dynamic is gonna continue to play out if it keeps up. You know, if Dean keeps coming into it more, yeah, then and like leaving Lisa where he should leave her.

Berly: 18:54

It will be interesting. Oh, you heard me. When they did pull up to the morgue, I did forget this Dean was on the phone talking to Ben Ben apparently broke something was trying to make up a lie that like this somehow broke itself or something like that. Dean calls him on the line. And it's just like, man up and just tell your mom that you broke it. It's not a big fucking deal. Sam made a comment like, Oh, look at you molding the minds of tomorrow. And LA was like, Okay, I'm over it.

LA: 19:22

I was like, I'm over Lisa. And then, like, I'm done. I don't like the idea of Dean being a step daddy. I don't know why. I don't know why. Because if I'm really thinking about it, and like a man who like I would appreciate that in such a way. Normally you're like, I would adore it but I'm like, Nope, don't want it. Don't want it. Can't have that from Monday. No. We could really delve into that by issues but we don't need to.

Berly: 19:55

Let's not do that. This isn't therapy. This is done unwrapped nightmares. So we'll Just move on with that.

LA: 20:01

Uh, no, I'm over. Over Lisa and Ben, I'm ready for them to be gone.

Berly: 20:07

Anyway, so they go up to the house and they knock on the door, the officers home, he answers the door and he's in full uniform,

LA: 20:15

like not even just like full you like hat at like to the nines of everything badges like, Oh, God, like everything.

Berly: 20:24

So they tell him why they're there. And he's just like, don't worry about it. It's just that

LA: 20:30

that should be the quote, don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. He just kept saying that. So like, calmly, just don't worry about it. Don't worry, I'm gonna start doing that. To worry about it.

Berly: 20:40

Well, Sam was not having it. And he like kicks in the door right away. They don't even try knocking again.

LA: 20:47

I said, Oh, Samson working out. He's like, Gene, check this

Berly: 20:53

door. Tomorrow's leg day. Don't worry, I got this.

LA: 21:00

That was so good. When you said that. I thought I was being funny. But then when he said that, I was like, damn.

Berly: 21:07

kicks in that door. So they go in. And there's all these pictures everywhere, like hung on the wall. And everybody's faces are scratched out of the pictures. So this guy has been taking pictures off the wall, taking the pictures out of the frame, scratching the faces out of the picture, putting the picture back in the frame and hanging the picture back on the wall. So he's been busy. All right. He's enjoying his day off

LA: 21:29

meticulously as we see. When he starts he's added another photo. So they're

Berly: 21:35

trying to talk to him about what happened with liquid guy and now we've got boils. What's going on? He's just don't worry about it. God wants them dead. And I'm next and I'm next. Yeah. And then he like really purposely reaches up and scratches.

LA: 21:51

He almost like above his head kind of shifts the whole hat. Yeah, I feel like

Berly: 21:55

through that hat. Yeah. And Ellie and I both immediately went what's under the hat? I was you odd what's under that?

LA: 22:02

That was you. I didn't notice it until you said that. I was like, Oh, she's right. You said it with me. No, no,

Berly: 22:07

I immediately just like what's under the hat? Oh, my God. Oh my God, what's in the box? Oh my God. So he pulls out alcohol too. So I'm just like, oh, it's happening. He's drinking the knocks over the bottle and just to certain stares at it as it horizontal Oh,

LA: 22:25

four. And I said wasteful? Yeah, you did. You

Berly: 22:27

were not happy with them. And he ends up mentioning Christopher birch. He says he was a boy without a face and a planted gun. La was right. We were like, right, dirty cops. And these guys all had something to do with it. They they shot them, you know, they pulled them over and shot them. Killed them dead, planted a gun claimed it was self discipline defense. He was a kid. He was young. Yeah. It's fucking sad. He was like, you know, God wants us dead. That's what happened. As he's saying this, a thing of blood starts running down from under the hat down his face. And they just like falls forward on the table. Sam goes over and puts two fingers on his neck and looks at Dana goes dead.

LA: 23:15

We're not going to help them give him CPR or anything. He's just

Berly: 23:18

he's that. That's it. And then they take the hat off and oh, I was not prepared.

LA: 23:26

I certainly wasn't.

Berly: 23:29

There's locusts crawling out of his brain. Like a hole. Yeah, it is a massive hole. So really, so he wasn't drunk and acting that way because he was drunk. His brain was being eaten away by locusts. It was disgusting.

LA: 23:46

I couldn't I couldn't watch.

Berly: 23:49

So we cut back to the hotel. Sam and Dean are doing their research, looking at pictures being like, Okay, this is some biblical shit. We got blood we got Boyles we got locusts. It's gotta be angels. Fucking spoken angels. And I immediately was like, okay, yeah, you're excited. We know Raphael still running around out there, doing his little thing. Somehow he got out of that circle. Somebody let him out of the holy fire. And they're just like, Yeah, okay, this resembles the Egyptian plagues. It's gotta be angels. Demons like, Well, Sam, why didn't you call Cass? Why didn't you just ring them up? Tell him tell him Leah come out.

LA: 24:27

A ring a ding ding ding ding ding. Sam

Berly: 24:30

gets defensive. It's like you don't think I fucking tried? It was the first the second. And the third thing I did. Whenever I found myself topside from hell. Okay, he's not answering. He didn't answer for me. And he's not going to fucking answer for you. Okay. I tried. Let it go. And Dean was like, I mean, Sam. What's What's the harm in trying one more shots give it a little go. Let me just give it a look. I knew you You did. Dean calls for cast, you know, hey, we could use some help man. Like, we got some Biblical stuff going on down here and we don't know what's happening. Please come help us. Just like don't be a dick. Yeah. And at first nothing happens. And Sam was like, told you and then we hear like the flop blah. Well, I

LA: 25:18

love that Sam's face was so sad. It's like, like I told you Yeah, like, it's like, he's not gonna show up. And then it's like, same shot on his face. And he's like, he's behind me, isn't it? Yeah.

Berly: 25:27

The flip flop. And Dedes eyes kind of go to the side and then go back to Sam and Sam. Yeah. And sure enough, he goes, hello. And Sam is not having it. He is up set. He's just like, What the fuck? Hello. He's like, hello, hello. I've been calling you for a year. And you have the audacity to show up and say hello. says what? So like, what you like Dean more than me? No, I

LA: 25:52

like he was like, he said hello multiple times. I think Cass was like, Oh, by the way, he kept saying castles like that is the still the Greek thing that's like we're supposed to like you're, like confused. That is still

Berly: 26:05

the term right? Like, that's what I'm supposed to say when I enter a room. Things haven't changed. He's like, what you'd like doing better than me. And cast turns around and says, I mean, we do have a more profound bond. But I wasn't going to mention it. And Sam was just flabbergasted in the background.

LA: 26:24

I love it. Like he was like, he like looks at Dean. He was like, I wasn't gonna mention it. Like he's like apologizing the way to Dean. And then like you pointed out behind, like, in the other view, because I was so focused on caste. And you were like, look at Sam's face is he's appalled. Like, just the head goes back. Like he cannot believe it.

Berly: 26:46

How dare you, sir. I mean, Sammy is just getting his feelings hurt left and right in this same. And it's good to see him show some emotion because he hasn't been doing that much true this season just yet. So Cass immediately lets them know, I didn't fucking come here for you either Dean. I came here for this. And he goes over and is looking at all their files from the case, it would take a really powerful weapon to make something like this happen. And so here's the thing. We had like this war in heaven, right? A lot of stuff was going on after though and it's been chaos. Yeah, it's been chaos since because nobody's in charge up there. And nobody knows what's going on. And just like, so we had all these biblical weapons that are all really powerful and stuff, and they went missing. So we're thinking that it's one of them. That probably did this. I'd like you guys to help me find it. And Sam is just like, Oh my God, but Cass is not having it.

LA: 27:51

I said like Sam's face was like, fuck you go fuck yourself. He did not want to help after you didn't help him.

Berly: 27:57

But Cass is not having any of their shit. He like throws the jar of locusts that he was looking at Sam and says, Okay, listen, my people skills are rough. Hold on.

LA: 28:08

Before you get I have to say I love Catholic. I know you really love cats. But this was probably my

Berly: 28:17

last surviving fictional boyfriend at this point in

LA: 28:21

my life. This is probably my favorite episode. Just for this scene because of how he behaves. It's amazing.

Berly: 28:30

I love it. I didn't know you could aggressively finger quo. I didn't either. But I do now and inappropriately

LA: 28:38

like a like like, oh, I guess it was for him. But it did

Berly: 28:42

finger quotes on a year. Yeah, he was like, a celestial being for a year. A year in quotes. I was like, what is that?

LA: 28:54

Okay, go on. Sorry. I just had to. I just had to let everybody know that. It's it's a great

Berly: 28:59

fucking hilarious, so yeah, so he's like, I'm not having any of your shit. Okay. You're gonna fucking help me.

LA: 29:06

Oh, go ahead and say what he said with the quotes. I

Berly: 29:09

did already. Did you?

LA: 29:10

I thought I interrupted it. No,

Berly: 29:12

I said it. Fine. Do you want me to say I do. Okay, okay. So cast. My people skills are rusty. Excuse me. I've been what is it? A Celestial Being? I know that much for a year. And I'm doing the finger quotes for you over here. I don't feel like I'm doing them as aggressively as Misha Collins did. I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to do that. But it was great. It was a great thing.

LA: 29:41

So good. My favorite cast seen so far. Besides his interests? I would say that was

Berly: 29:47

yeah, the entrance is iconic. Yeah, it's pretty fucking iconic. Anyway, so at some point in this conversation, Cass does mention exactly which weapon he suspects is the culprit behind all of this and it's called have the staff of Moses. This is what we need to find by the havening went, but yeah, he needs Sam and Dean's help to actually find it. So they tell him what they found out about Chris Burch and that going to talk to family was going to be their next step. Cast immediately teleports them to the purchase house.

LA: 30:21

That poor man, he's just sitting in his living room, looking over an article about his son's death, and three white guys just show up out of nowhere,

Berly: 30:30

and he was talking to his other son, there was a little brother. So Chris, how's your brother? Aaron? He was really cute. Was he looking at an article about his son? Or was it an article about the cops death? Oh, I think it was the cops. I think you're right. Yeah. And I love how they landed this time. Normally, they just kind of pop in. But this time for whatever reason. They like bent their knees like they had just like landed like, whoo. DS like cats. You gotta warn us next time. You can't just teleport us like that. And this guy is like, Who the fuck are you? And why did you just appear in my house and Dean is like, calm down.

LA: 31:03

Hold on, hold on. I have to say I kind of love that cast just is like he doesn't give a fuck. He's like, No, we're going yeah, no warning like the finger to the head or like, whatever. He's like to know what's happening. Deal with it.

Berly: 31:14

Cass and Sam. Like neither of them give a shit this season. Yeah,

LA: 31:17

they don't give off. But yeah, the guy No. Fucks left to give the Mr. Burch like as long as Captain stands up. And he's like, settle down.

Berly: 31:27

And I said, if somebody these three bucks. I'm like,

LA: 31:32

tell me to settle down in my own house.

Berly: 31:34

You just showed up at a fucking nowhere, flashes his bag. It was like, it's cool. We're FBI. Like that explains how they just literally materialized out of nothing cool guy in this living room. He was like, you can't just walk in here. And I'm like you. They didn't walk. They literally just appeared out of nowhere. So they're talking to the dad and they see the articles that he's looking at. And they're like, oh, yeah, so you did it. Where's the staff of Moses? Like, give us to us? He's like, What the fuck are you talking about? And then all of a sudden, sweet little Aaron shows up around the corner. And he's like, I did it. Leave my dad alone. And he's holding the staff out. I thought it was a gun. At first.

LA: 32:14

It looks like a wooden gun. Yeah, the way he was holding it a stick that is in the shape of a gun. Yeah.

Berly: 32:20

And the size of it. I totally thought it was a gun at first. And I was just like, what's wrong with that gun? And then I realized, oh, okay, it's not the gun. CASS puts the dad just like two fingers to the forehead. He's out and immediately like, teleports over to the little boy. And it's like, where did you get those? What is going on here? It's shorter than it's supposed to be. It's been chopped up what's going on here? I don't understand. And then all of them were like, walking toward the little boy. And he's cowering back. I was just like,

LA: 32:45

kind of like shoving it like jam into the door. I was like, Guys,

Berly: 32:49

it's a beautiful house. I feel like we've seen that house before. I feel like they use that in something else.

LA: 32:54

I don't know. But I like just the windows, how everything was the dark staircase. Yes, it

Berly: 32:59

was beautiful and nice. So as they're bullying this child into telling them what happened, he ends up letting them know that he sold his soul to an angel and exchange for the weapon.

LA: 33:11

Well, because he said they killed my brother. Right? He

Berly: 33:14

knew what was happening. He wanted not revenge.

LA: 33:17

Nothing happened to them. Even though my brother didn't do what they said they did. You know, like he knew. And so he said he prayed because he wanted retribution. Yeah.

Berly: 33:27

He said he was praying for justice. Yeah. And he prayed and prayed and prayed. And so I totally thought it was going to be Raphael. I know I did too. I was like, is Raphael Raphael is doing it like he's praying like it's gonna be an archangel. And he's the only one left at this point. Well, I guess I guess Michaels no Michaels in the cage. Michael and Lucifer in the cage that we know of. Yeah, cuz Sam. Sam Stockton weird. Yeah. Sam is out. So like that we know of Lucifer and Michael. Maybe. Maybe everybody's out. Maybe the cage lock wasn't working real well, we're all out. Everybody's out. Like there was just you throw man, but you didn't lock the door behind you. Like maybe you didn't get full instructions. He got distracted during the porn and didn't pay attention to exactly what he was supposed to do. He was finishing and so he didn't pay attention how he was supposed to finish the other stuff. You know, it's hard to think it's hard to concentrate sometimes. Where was I? Oh, so it's like the kid is sold is Sam. Aaron. Yeah, Aaron has sold his soul to an angel. Whenever cast hears this. He's just like, Okay, I know what to do. And he just like two fingers, puts the kid to sleep throws them on his shoulder. He's like, let's go and he's like, why did you do that? And then cascos, easier to transport or something like that, and they're already in the motel. Whatever this happens, like I loved this transition. The transitions in this with cast teleporting. He teleported a lot in this episode, and it was fun. I adored it. He puts the kid on the bed and explains that if this kid is sold his soul then There's a brand. And I immediately was like, oh my god, it's not what the handprint was to he brand Dean's soul so hard. It was visible on the outside. So hard so hard. Well, he says, you know, there's a way for me to find out who it is. But look, it's gonna be really painful and really bad, but I'm just gonna go out and do it real quick. D is like, wait a minute, there's gotta be another way for us to get this information besides torturing the kid, and Sam is just like, um, will there be any permanent damage? Like will the kid be okay? If you just go ahead and do this? Cast is like, I mean, yeah, he's gonna be physically hurt a little bit, but it's fine. It's not a big deal. So Sam is just like, I mean, it's good enough for me.

LA: 35:41

Like, go ahead.

Berly: 35:41

If it's good enough for cast, it's good enough for me. So Dan is the only one in the room who has a problem with this now cast does do a very dramatic. I can't care about that right now. Okay, there's a fucking war going on. Like I am Civil War. Rafales trying to take over I can't have it. I gotta get these weapons. Like, I can't afford to care about this human bigger than us. Yeah. So I'm gonna do this. So he like sticks his hand and the special effects were done pretty damn. Well. Yeah, they weren't done as well, in my opinion as Adam in the crypt. Hmm. So Adam in the crypt that was that looks like his body that looked like jkbose body. That was really this one was done really well. But I think because it was on the squishy bed. It just didn't work as well, like whatever cast went and put his hand through it squished down enough that I could tell that wasn't actually a body. If they had made that hard surface instead, I think would have worked better. Yeah, but it was still done well. But anyway, Cass reaches his hand into the kid up under his ribcage and is digging around in there and we see his angelic light lighting up the kids veins and coming up through his mouth and the kid is screaming and agony. And then he just stops I don't know if he passed out again, or what happened but he stops the light goes away. And Cass is like okay, I know who it is. Which I'm hoping

LA: 37:06

like maybe it was just like cut he was still kind of unconscious but hurting immediately just it ends up being a dream like a nightmare for him. You know,

Berly: 37:13

hopefully, another angel shows up right as casts reveals itself as our that's who we need to go see the other angels like thank you, thank you for the Intel like, presents his angel blade and then cast an angel they fight. They're having a tussle Angel fight. And he was a greasy Angel. So suit was kind of I was like, What is this angel like, what? Who is this? We didn't get a name. But they have their fight. And Sam and Dean just stand back. I'm like, well, even when the angel blades fall and basically fall at their feet. They both just are standing back like, oh,

LA: 37:48

you said that you were like get one of those guys. Grab one of those blades. What

Berly: 37:53

do you do? So like just

LA: 37:55

confused or like these angels? Hash it out. We're out of the game, so

Berly: 37:59

the angels fight all the way over the window and then crash through the window and fall. It was an impressive stunt. I hope that the special features include the behind the scenes of that. It was hoped they

LA: 38:12

included the scene with Cass and his angry quotes.

Berly: 38:16

That's what I want. You need to see the making of the aggressive finger quotes.

LA: 38:20

I like I just cannot imagine him doing that and then keeping a straight face like I couldn't. We're never gonna get through this episode. Oh, I'm sorry. For me. I'm sorry. I'll stop talking.

Berly: 38:29

Oh, it's not you. It's both. Good. You're good. You're good. I'm teasing with this. No, don't you dare Don't you dare.

LA: 38:38

Don't you dare. I need help me don't do.

Berly: 38:42

Okay. So they fly out the window. Right? And they land on a car. And it just happens to be Samys car. I bet Dean was thrilled.

LA: 38:54

Like, yes, he's back in the baby.

Berly: 38:57

So greasy Angel just disappears. After he smashes the windshield and cast is completely dented in the roof of the car. So he teleports back up to the house and it's just like, Okay, we gotta go find Balthazar. Right away. And Dean says, Well, what about the kid and you can hear sirens in the background coming in Cal says, well, don't you think the cops will take him out?

LA: 39:18

Like these to just heartless? don't even care about this kid. Lost his brother. He just killed three cops.

Berly: 39:27

You just kidnapped

LA: 39:30

the cops will take care of him because the cops were obviously so trustworthy to begin with.

Berly: 39:37

Now they teleport to this mansion that I guess Casio will just happen to know like oh, this is what about the Tsar is and I can't remember what the exact quote was. They were like I was expecting more something than Liberace. Yeah.

LA: 39:49

Oh God, what was it? No, it was a good one though. It was a good was a good one and

Berly: 39:53

I can't remember what it was. Cast goes in by himself to go find out the Sauron confront him. He goes into this massive ballroom type living room thing and there are lights flashing, like a club and music playing, and then bounces off presents himself and it's just like, Hey, bro, I'm not dead. I faked my death in the war. And I'm following your footsteps like you broke the rulebook. There are no rules. There is no destiny. I can do anything. So I'm trying everything. And I was like, Um, excuse me. There was another angel who did it first. And Ark angel. You're not following CASAS footsteps? You're following Gabriel's. Thank you very much, sir. What did he say? He was like I had a Managua. What's French for 12?

LA: 40:44

Yeah. This morning.

Berly: 40:47

Yeah. I used to bash under your shade. Just I

LA: 40:51

like to stylee the neck. Jacket. He had a drink in his hand. He's just

Berly: 40:58

living his life. Just living his life. And he's he's taken all these weapons so that he can protect himself. He's like, you know, let Raphael know I'm armed. And Cass was trying to tell him like I need the weapons. And he's like, You can't ask me for that. You can ask me for anything. You're my bro. I love you. You can't ask me for that. I'm not gonna give you that.

LA: 41:17

Which I mean, I get it. Yeah, understand him. He's

Berly: 41:21

he's trying to watch his back.

LA: 41:22

You know, for like cast Tables turn would do the same thing.

Berly: 41:25

I mean, he's looking out for himself. Now is what it is cast. Well, then we are loud ass thunder and lightning. Balthazar looks at Castilian says was that yo and CASAS like No, it wasn't me about this. I was like, Yeah, okay. I'm gonna go and that's race. Like, make sure you tell Raphael I'm armed, like leave me alone. I'm armed. So well. Those are pieces out. He's gone. Yeah. And then we see Raphael and two henchmen appear in the yard and the exact same place where Castile Sam and Dean appeared. So I guess that's like the landing pad. It's like Uber pickup.

LA: 41:59

Oh, my god. That's so good. I love it. This is where we land. This is

Berly: 42:02

the pain. Yeah, when you teleport you land here. And I was so excited to see the more Barnes again. I know. I was so sad. Because it was real short guys.

LA: 42:15

Well, I don't like I said, like, he was so good. And we wanted so much more. But I bet it something scheduling wise, like your butt, which is such a bummer. But I just watched

Berly: 42:24

all of American guides recently, and he's in Dallas. And I know he was in some other stuff. Like I'm sure yeah, that's that's the risk you're gonna run with these guest stars is if they can't always do a full run of the whole season. They're not going to be committed to be being available to coming back. So I'm sure you're right. I'm sure you're right. But if that was the case, though, I'm happy. They tied it up,

LA: 42:46

save and I appreciate him his character. He was so so good.

Berly: 42:51

So Raphael goes into the ballroom, living room, fancy room, and he like comes up behind casket. All the powers gone out lightning thunder powers gone out. You know, that's his MO. That's what Raph does whenever he comes to visit the way he grabbed cast CL I thought

LA: 43:09

so I thought like he stabbed him from behind the way that Castile chest went up. And you were like, I thought it was sexy. Yeah. And then do you ever went and I was like, oh, yeah, when I realized he didn't actually stab it. Yeah, by

Berly: 43:22

the way, like I'm like, picturing like, he grabbed his hair and like, pulls his head back because

LA: 43:26

what I think he grabs like right over his little peck. Not even

Berly: 43:29

little, like Rob's right over his MIDI, MIDI man Teddy. Grabs over it, like, almost grabs his lapel to his coat but not quite like just really grabs in there and pulls them to face them. I was like, Oh, we rewatched that a good two or three times. It was it was sexy. It was hot. Congrats. Good job. Two more barns. Cheers to Misha Collins. Good job. It was interesting seeing Cassie lb the sub, right. Like that's not normally the case. So I guess even though he's new and improved, he's still not quite Archangel status. He's still going to sub to the Archangels. Good to know these are important plot points. They really are for us to know. crucial. So the two henchmen that showed up with rafail Of course, come across Sam and Dean. And Sam was like, Oh, hey, like cool. You got an angel blade meet you look like look, I got one, two returns. You can't take me in a fight. Dudes like who's biting? They've done that angel banishing sigil he likes his cut his palm or his palm was already cut because Castile used his blood to make that spell to find Balthus RS location. That's what it was. I forgot they did that spell to find out the Czar's location because Cassiel needed mer. That's right. And then he disappeared and came back and then he grabbed his hand and cut it you didn't like that that he did it without asking for Yeah,

LA: 44:55

I was like some consent there, buddy.

Berly: 44:57

Come on now. So it's something his poem was already cut so he just made the sigil from that you have a drinking problem over there

LA: 45:06

the second time

Berly: 45:09

so they blow those angels to the Hey, they did. Sam and Dean did they tag teamed and blew those angels rafail Oh my god. Okay my notes that I'm using from the super wiki to just reference in case I lose my train of thought. It says Raphael completely dominates the battle. And the angel fight, Angel fight it wasn't as dramatic as I would have liked it to have been. There were no spins to stand and fancy stuff like that. It was just a short it's pretty short lived just kind of punching a few times throwing him down the stairs kind of fight. I would have liked it to be a little bit more dramatic contact. Yeah, like bigger like throwing throw him over the railing. Instead of kicking him down the stairs. Okay. Yeah. doing like a.

LA: 45:58

Let's throw him over the rail over

Berly: 46:01

the railing. Well, anyway, Balthazar comes back and tells Raphael look at my chunk, and holds up something. I don't take a crystals of crystal, okay, he had to go to church. He left he made Cassiel think he was leaving, but it was a full moon. And he just had to go outside and charges crystal for a little bit first. And then he came inside and was like Raphael, look at my junk and shine it to him. And Raphael turned into salt and fell apart. And I was so sad. I was a little happy whenever I found out that Raphael is still alive. It's just his vessel that was destroyed. But I'm still sad. No more dimauro barn right. Yeah. But Raphael is still out there.

LA: 46:45

I'll be curious to see what after takes the roll over if it's like similar. Yeah,

Berly: 46:49

who is who is it going to be next? It's going to be the next vessel. And then the other thing I theorized earlier in the episode was when they were talking about the weapons I was like, Oh, so this season is going to be them collecting all the weapons, but Balthazar said he has all the weapons. So that's not

LA: 47:04

what it is. Maybe they'll just be chasing him the whole season

Berly: 47:07

maybe. So they do capture golfers are in some oil, holy fire. They conveniently made a circle of holy oil right there in the spot where Balthazar was standing. Maybe Cass was supposed to lead rafaelle to that certainly Kashi better get him in the right spot. Yeah, and it ended up being Balthasar instead. So they tell Balthasar Okay, listen, you're gonna relinquish that little boy his soul back to him. Give it back to him. And

LA: 47:36

the other two weren't too concerned.

Berly: 47:37

Dan is real insistent about it. No, Sam was helping because Sam was had more holy oil and was like, Do you want your wings extra crispy?

LA: 47:45

That's true. Okay, okay. And then TAS said,

Berly: 47:48

Whenever Balthazar called them hairless apes. CASS was like, the hairless ape has the floor. So they had Dean's back.

LA: 47:56

We know I cast. I mean, they had his back.

Berly: 48:00

True, true, true. So Bob Lazar agrees. And it's like, okay, Aaron. birchas soul is his own. I've given it back. I've done my deal. Now y'all let me go. And Sam and Dean are like, Ah, we're keeping you trapped. You're real cute. We want to keep you around. And you've got these weapons and all of this, and yada yada, yada. But for whatever reason, Castiel extinguishes the holy fire until his mouth is our word. Even now. Yeah, that's that balances are escapes. But it takes off. Sam and Dean tried to be like, What the hell Cass but then cast just leaves to

LA: 48:30

go to heaven. He says, now that I'm out. I'm done. We're not doing like Winchesters that have had enough of it. Your bickering Don't come at me in any way.

Berly: 48:40

I'm just like, how did how did 17 get back? Did they get back? Go back to cast? Take them back to the motel first and then leave them? Do you remember? No,

LA: 48:49

because cast just took off the Uber cab back to wherever they needed to go. Who knows? Another reason I would have been mad at Cass first of all, I had some things to say. And then you just left behind me abandoned.

Berly: 49:07

So at the end of the episode, Sam and Dean are getting out of baby and are getting into baby. I don't remember which one. And Dean is pointing out like, hey, things are different with you. You know that right? Sam was like, Yeah, I mean, I know like I've been hunting nonstop for a year. So I'm rough around the edges. It's it's fine. Like it's bound to happen. Deals says, you know, I went to hell to it's going to affect a man it changes you. And Sam kind of cuts him off and it's like, no, like, changes you. It affected you. Just because it affected you in that way doesn't mean it affected me that way. Now granted, Sam was not in Hell. nearly as long as dean. Yeah, you

LA: 49:50

want to like think you pointed it out? I was like there's no comparison. Right? Especially you can't Don't you dare say that to Dean after he opened Up to you told you what he experienced. You haven't said a thing what you experience, but then you're just trying to be like, Oh, it changed you. But I'm good. I'm good when you were there like nothing compared to what Dean was just because it's not

Berly: 50:14

the same thing and it can't really be compared like Dean was there for the equivalent of 30 or 40 years and Dean was torturing souls down there being torture being tortured after being tortured for 30 years or whatever was torturing souls for like 10 years is not the same thing. But at the same time, you were still in hell don't act like it didn't affect you at all

LA: 50:37

right? Like something?

Berly: 50:40

Something's going on here.

LA: 50:41

Well, then you did the calculation. Right. Well, what was it?

Berly: 50:45

I don't remember.

LA: 50:46

I did say like a week,

Berly: 50:47

I think I think it's a 10 days. I think I said if he was there for one day, that's still the equivalent of 10 days. I think if I did the math, right, let's not nothing rice, shit went down. You were in a cage with Lucifer in your vessel. And you're why Lucifer was in the cage. I can't imagine that he was being nice to you down there for those 10 days. You know, I would imagine some shit still went down. And Michael down there, too. And Adam, that would be an interesting episode to see what happened in the cage during those 10 days.

LA: 51:17

I hope it does come out. Like I liked when Dean kind of fessed up to what happened to him. So I hope that happens for Sam to say, I mean, clearly, it's not gonna be as bad but still,

Berly: 51:28

who knows? Like I said, it was loose. It's true. It's true. Who knows? But yeah, Sam, not talking about it. He's just like, I'm good. It didn't affect me like it. did. You were good. We can just move past it. And Dean is just like, yeah, not buying it. Okay, bro. Yeah, cool. So Dean drops it for the moment, but you can tell he's like,

LA: 51:46

not believe in it. That's the end of the episode. It was no

Berly: 51:49

surprise here, written by Ben Edlund and directed by Robert singer. Robert.

LA: 51:57

I should have known. Yeah.

Berly: 51:58

I love all his episodes. Almost. Gore. Holy shit. I gotta say, I thought, whatever. We just had the opener. I was like, Oh, it can't get grosser than that. Like the liquefied cup was pretty gross. But what was worse to you the boilers or the locusts? I thought the boilers were the worst. Yeah,

LA: 52:20

like it will. You know my thing with bugs? Yeah. Like Well, honestly, it might cuz I had to look away with you did, so I didn't really see it all the whole thing. But the boys were pretty bad. It

Berly: 52:32

was a boiler. And they kept getting worse. Like when the cot fell forward. And you saw it was a hole. That's all it was. It didn't change. It didn't get worse. Yeah, I think there were a little bit more bugs that crawled out of the hole. But okay, once you saw the hole, it was a hole. The bugs were there. The bugs were there. Yeah. The boils. They just seem to keep getting worse. There just seemed to keep being more and the the actor did really well with the choking stuff like

LA: 52:58

well, and as much as it disgusted me and like I had to look away part of me was like, like I said, I was waiting for one to bust. Same but that also I kind of wanted one.

Berly: 53:08

There was one on his cheek. There was one on his cheek that I totally kept thinking like it's gonna pop it's gonna pop any second it's gonna pop at second. And it never did. Yeah, so yeah, it was oh, it was done. Well, it was done. Well, there was a scene. Whenever Cass first arrived in the ballroom dining, whatever it was it felt the Czar's mansion. There had already been Rafael's angels there because remember that other angel Oh, it was greasy Angel greasy Angel. Bow bizarre had cursed him with frogs coming out of his mouth. Oh, that's another I had to look away for that too. Yeah, whenever Casper showed up at the mansion and walked in there was just a frog sitting on the banister of the stairs. And I was like, Is that is that Bob was a little frogs turn into like an idiot afterwards, but I remembered whenever it showed the frog and it like zoomed in on the frog it was like is that Balthasar? Or is it gonna be like that fairy tale one the story bedtime stories where there's frogs and we know we never find out why. But we did find out why that angel like had frogs coming out of his throat frog in your throat. And like they did really good special effects where you saw the lump coming up his throat and then the frog piqued his little mouth head out of the guy's mouth. They were done really? Well.

LA: 54:26

I wonder if do you think it was a real frog that was in his mouth like that. The neck thing was just special effects. But then he spit it frog out.

Berly: 54:34

I have a real shout that guy put a frog in his mouth. Maybe it was a question listen to supernatural but and now when they get there. Steve was this a real frog and that guy is now

LA: 55:29

Berly: 55:35

LA: 55:52

and remember our first episode of the season we were both like

Berly: 55:57

I still am confused. Oh, say about quite a bit a little bit.

LA: 56:01

But I feel like the last two episodes were kind of like Okay, let's go into. Let's see where this goes. It's a little more exciting.

Berly: 56:08

Yes, I'm happy to have our angels back and sassy back. And the overarching theme. Of course we know that it's like what the fuck is going on with Sam? But we're at the third episode and I still have no idea what's what's the point of the season? Yeah,

LA: 56:22

well, I'm you may be on to it about the weapons. But we know

Berly: 56:25

we're all the Balthazar has all of them maybe they're gonna somehow get

LA: 56:29

they're gonna chase them maybe has some all over the place. Who knows? He's been

Berly: 56:32

selling off this staff of Moses chopping that up and selling that off to people. Maybe they're gonna go get the other pieces. Maybe he sold something else. Yeah, maybe the weapons are gonna have a bigger thing. Well, anyway, speaking of the weapons, why don't you take us into the lore?

LA: 56:47

Okay, well, we're going to talk about that staff of Moses. Where did Moses get his staff and what happened to it by Yoda? Sherpa. Moses is staff figures prominently throughout the story of Exodus from Egypt and our ancestors subsequent sojourn in the desert, we first encounter the staff at the incident of the burning bush.

Berly: 57:13

That's my nickname, what?

LA: 57:21

Burly where God asks Moses, what he has in his hands and he replies a staff. At the end of the incident. The verse tells us that Moses returned to Egypt and took the staff of God in his hand, other than informing us that Moses uses his staff to perform many miracles, including turning into a snake bringing about some of the plagues and drawing water from the rock. Scripture itself doesn't tell us anything unique about the history of the staff or why it is referred as the staff of God. The staffs uniqueness is first mentioned in Machina, which lists Moses staff as one of 10 wonderous things created at twilight before the first Shabbat of creation. The Midrash Midrash Midrash Sure, relates that the staff was given to Adam in the Garden of Eden. In turn, Adam gave it to Enoch, Enoch to Noah, Noah to Shem Shem to Abraham, Abraham to Isaac, Isaac to Jacob, Jacob brought it to Egypt and passed it on to his son Joseph. When Joseph died, the Egyptian Egyptian the Egyptians pillage his household goods, and the staff was placed in the palace of Pharaoh. Eventually, Jethro, who was then one of the pharaohs advisors saw the rod, the rod and the letters upon it, and he desired it. So he stole the rod and brought it to Midian, where he planted it in the middle of the garden of his house. From that point, no one was able to pull it from the ground. Right. When Moses fled Egypt and came to Jethro his house, he went into the garden, saw the rod and read the letters upon it, he pulled the rod out of the ground, which no one had been able to do until then. So yeah, you're completely right. Oh, so I guess that's where they got the story of King Arthur, Jethro observed this and said, this one will one day redeem Israel from Egypt. He therefore decided to give his daughter Zipporah to Moses as a wife,

Berly: 59:34

hold my rod. Now here's my daughter, he can marry my daughter in

LA: 59:38

the Midrash we find that the staff was made out of sapphire Whoo. Another tradition is that it was made out of wood from the tree of knowledge that makes more sense. Yeah. Additionally, inscribed on the staff was God's four letter name the TETRA Tetra gimmick gamma Tom tetragrammaton. Sure. And I'm gonna this is I can't pronounce this in Hebrew but that shot dosh chop, sure, which turned out to be an acronym for the 10 plagues. The Midrash tells us that the staff was passed down from generation to generation and was the possession of the Judean kings. Thus the Midrash relates that the verse concerning King David, and he took his staff in his hand is a reference to Moses's special staff. Before the temple was destroyed, the staff was hidden. Some say it was placed together with the implements of the tabernacle that Moses made as well as the Holy Ark. The Midrash relates that Moses the staff will ultimately be given to the Messiah during the Masonic era. May it be speedily in our

Berly: 1:00:52

days, it wasn't Balthazar, chopped it up and sold it for people so

LA: 1:00:56

yeah, I guess no, I guess I don't know when the Masonic era supposed to be.

Berly: 1:01:00

I don't know. My biblical knowledge is basically what we've researched for this show. So I'm not gonna know Okay, so in Abrahamic religions, the Messianic age is the future period of time on Earth, in which the Messiah will reign and bring universal peace and brotherhood without any evil.

LA: 1:01:23

So it's not the apocalypse when the Messiah comes down.

Berly: 1:01:27

I guess not. Well quote to close it out. First, we have Dean's saying, Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray to Castile to get his feathery ass down here.

LA: 1:01:39

Sam says you're an idiot. Dean says stay positive. Sam says oh, I am positive. Cheers. Cheers. bassy stay till the end. Love it. Thank

Berly: 1:01:51
