Berly:

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.

LA:

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly:

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series. I'm

LA:

LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now, let's get tipsy.

Berly:

I love LA

LA:

Hello Burley.

Berly:

It's our mid season premiere, and I have a new review from a listener.

LA:

All right,

Berly:

this is from Juliet 0720. It's titled best podcast, Juliet said, I don't listen to podcasts. But I'm so glad I found this one. I'm also a new fan to the show. So it's really fun to watch it along with these ladies. They make me laugh so much. And I love all the little things they point out about the show. Thank you for being you. Can't wait to keep listening. Nice. Thank you, Juliet. So let's get into it. Last episode was abandoned all hope. And that episode, Sam Dean and Castiel tracked down Crowley and the cult, and use that to go find Lucifer with hoping to send him back to hell. It's a hunter's reunion, because they are joined with Bobby, Ellen and Joe, for what could be their last night on Earth. And unfortunately, that was the case for Ellen. And Joe. It also wasn't the case for Lucifer turns out he they are one of five things that the cult cannot kill. So it was a depressing episode. Mm hmm. And it was very sad.

LA:

All right, well, today's episode is titled Sam interrupted. It's the 11th episode of season five, and aired on January 21 2010. New Year,

Berly:

we're the 2010.

LA:

Well, we are at Glenwood Springs psychiatric hospital. And there is a Dr. Fuller are talking with a patient named Susan. He's asking her why she stopped taking her medication. And she says it's because it makes her sleep. And she does want to sleep because the monster might kill her while she's sleeping because I guess her roommate Annie was killed recently. The doctor says that it was a suicide. There's no monster. It's just her way of coping with the loss. And he says that it's her schizophrenia that makes her hear. I guess she's hearing things in the walls at night. And she keeps maintaining the monster but he's like, no, no, no, no, there's no such thing as monsters. But later that night, she's in her room alone. And she starts hearing noises. The little bolts on the her vent, air vent start coming down coming off. And there's obviously something in there. And the guy across the hallway from her is looking at his little window from his door and kind of sees what's going on. I thought it was Sam. At first did shoot. He just like I was like, I was like, did they make Sam look crazy with his wild hairs and thing? I don't know. I thought it was him at first. But clearly it's not. She starts screaming and she's up against her little window looking at him kind of like scared to death help, like want help wanting help. And she gets pulled away from the door. And when the nurses come to check on her, she is dead on the floor.

Berly:

Two things. First of all, the doctor was being way too insistent that this is your schizophrenia. And she was like, I know like I see my dead son standing behind you. I know that's not real. But I'm telling you the monster is real. And he was like there are no monsters. So I immediately was like, Oh, Dr. Fuller's the monster of this episode. I was like, immediately. He's he's gonna be the monster. And then the other thing. I thought it was kind of messed up. But the nurses didn't go to check on Susan until she stopped screaming. Yeah, like she was screaming bloody murder. And they didn't go check until she wasn't. Yeah,

LA:

get there before it stops. Yeah.

Berly:

She was begging for help. No, no, I

LA:

feel dumb. Sam and Dean are now the ones and Dr. Fuller's office talking to him. And they said that their names are Edward and Alex Van Halen. And Dr. Phil is a little suspicious of them because their reference was from a doctor bar. He started saying isn't that the name of an elephant from a children's book? You know, it's a little weird, ending like right away. Just as like, No, I don't know what you're talking about. I don't have any elephant books. What are you talking about dude, but they decide to go ahead and describe to the doctor in detail that like what's been going on with their lives in the world. And so, which we're like, oh yeah, that's fine. They're just gonna talk about what's going on. But then when you realize like they're talking to doctors, psychiatric doctor, it's like, oh, he's gonna think they're fucking nuts. Yeah. And they talk about Sam's depression, how he was culpable in starting the apocalypse. And Dean's like, you know, Dr. Sam is not evil. It was just he was high on demon blood. That's It's not his fault. And the doctors like, okay, sure, guys. And he tells him like, hold on a second, causes his assistant to cancel his lunch. And then the next thing we see is the boys are admitted into the hospital. They are given a very thorough examination by nurse foreman. So much so that she tells him to drop them. But we don't know what happened after that.

Berly:

Don't wait. No, I think

LA:

Dean kind of tries to give her shit lay some ground rules and calls her nurse ratchet. Yeah. And warning her not to try anything.

Berly:

He's like I've I've seen one flu horrific. Yeah.

LA:

So after their examinations, they meet up in, I guess their little common area. Yeah. Sam ends up suggesting that maybe it's a good thing. You're there because he's been worried about dean. And he's been doing his usual thing since Ellen and Joe died just not dealing with it. This annoys Dean. He says that being in a psych hospital does not give Sam the right to head drinkin. Dean's looking around and is just like, he can't really believe that Sam talked him into this. But Sam reminds him that dad's buddy Martin was like, once a great hunter, he saved dad asked a couple times a few times whatever. So at least they could do is answer his call to come here and help them. And then they so they see him over in the corner. Oh, and they mentioned something that happened in Albuquerque kind of changed, Martin, I guess. Yeah. But they say since then. He hasn't been the

Berly:

same. Yeah, it comes up again later in the episode, but like not enough for us to know what happened. I

LA:

kept kind of waiting for that for an explanation. So then they go see Martin, he's happy to see them and tells them that he doesn't really know what happened. He used to be able to work these kinds of cases alone, but he appreciates them coming to help him. He doesn't know what's happened to these five people that have been killed in the last four months. They keep saying that they're suicides, but or that's what the doctors say, but he doesn't believe it. He doesn't feel that that's right. They asked if he's seen what's, you know, killing them. And he says he hasn't but a couple of other patients claimed to have gotten glimpses. And Dean asks if any of those witnesses are less reliable since they are in a psychiatric ward. Martin hasn't even considered that they wouldn't be reliable. But he does acknowledge Dean's obvious concern and tells him he knows they think he's a bag of what is it a bag of blue screws. But he wouldn't have called them unless he really felt like something was going on something sinister that he needed help with. Sam tells them they believe him and asks if he found any signs of the attack on the victims bodies. Martin mentions that he doesn't he kind of stammers through and stutters through saying he doesn't go around dead bodies anymore. So he has no evidence or proof or any leads for them really to go on. Dr. Fuller comes over and tells them that they should go join the other patients for group. As they go to leave the doctor stops Dean and says that he thinks it would be best if he and Sam attend different groups because their relationship seems dangerously codependent and he feels like they need a little time or time apart. It would do them good. And Dean watches Sam go off with Martin and he looks quite quite concerned. And the group therapy TED is the one that saw Susan across the hall through the his little window. He tells him that he saw the monster before it killed Susan

Berly:

Dr. Fuller was being all aggressive about it again, like no this isn't good for group and there are no monsters and I was like wait a minute they're making it way too obvious now that Dr. Fuller is the bad guy so he probably isn't it's probably somebody else. Right after that. This hot woman comes walking up to Dean to talk to him and I pointed at the TV and what she's the monster. Oh, yeah. Is the hot doctor now? It's Dean's doctor and office Dr. Fuller guy. Well,

LA:

she says her name is Dr. Erica Cartwright. Deena is excited and says Lucky me. And she mentioned that she's just as lucky because he's a paranoid schizophrenic with narcissistic personality disorder and religious psychosis. She sits down to ask him some questions how many hours he sleeps and how many drinks he asks her about the recent suicides and tries to find out if she's noticed any cold spots or sulfur smells, which she hasn't. She wants to know why he's asked those questions. And he seems pleased to inform her that it means demons or ghosts are about and that he hunts them. I

Berly:

thought it was interesting how proud Dean was acting about habits that he clearly knows are unhealthy. Yeah, I guess it was a defense mechanism. Well,

LA:

after Dean's done with Dr. Cartwright, he ends up running into SAM in the hallway. And Sam tells him about Ted from his group therapy, mentioning that he actually saw this monster. So they decide later that they want to meet back up and go talk with Ted. But as they're talking about this, this random lady, another patient walks up to them and just out of nowhere, kisses Dean.

Berly:

It was a noisy kiss, too.

LA:

It was, it was very strange.

Berly:

There were some interesting sound effects. We'll get there.

LA:

And she just like walks off. I don't even I think she said her name was windy. And that's like all she said to him. And then just took off. He of course Dean's like looking after her like he wants to, you know, go after her. And Sam tells him that he cannot hit that. Like it's not it's not right. Morally not right.

Berly:

Dean was like, so torn. Really, really? Come on.

LA:

Before they can get deported. We see Ted in his room and are actually we hear him first. I think

Berly:

his feet were like, on the wind. Yeah,

LA:

you're screaming because you see his feet hit the tiny window on the door. Yeah. And then the guys go go rushing in to try to get him but it was very short transition to his feet being on the window to them opening the door and he's just already dead hanging there.

Berly:

And what was he hanging from the vent the pipe? Like? Why were there pipes across the ceiling in his room?

LA:

Pipe? Yeah. But they go to the morgue to check out Ted's now dead body. Sam notices like some little thing on the side of his temple was better. Was it? Yeah,

Berly:

it was back like near the base of his neck. It was like or behind his ear kinda. Oh, okay. I wasn't sure exactly. It was like a puncture wound. Yeah,

LA:

almost. It was not a Q tip or like a stick.

Berly:

It was a long Q tip.

LA:

I just missed the Q tip part. I remember you mentioned that I was like, Oh, it was just anyway, he said it's long and he sticks it through the little wound. And it goes all the way through to his brain. Yeah. So Sam decides that he needs to get in there and really see what's going on.

Berly:

I was like, Do you remember back in season one where they found the vampire head and the teeth came out? And Sam was all squeamish about it.

LA:

Yeah. And now he's, he's roaring open. Yeah.

Berly:

My how far we've come

LA:

that growth. So he takes the top of his skull off that he is now sawed off and pulls out the brain, but it's it's really small. It's black.

Berly:

It looks like a burnt portabello. Marshy. Yeah, Marshmallow mushroom.

LA:

It really did it really. And so he like excitedly tells Dean that it's like, look at his brand. It's been sucked dry. Before they can really have a discussion about it. Nurse Foreman randomly comes in the morgue for some reason. And she's like, what's going out here, guys? Dean decides to just act crazy, pulls his pants down and starts guessing doing a little dance. You don't really see it. He just smiles real big and says pudding.

Berly:

The sound effects were like,

LA:

Yeah, I don't. There was.

Berly:

And I was like, Is that his feet tapping on the ground? Or is that something bouncing around and slapping his thigh?

LA:

seemed like there were two different sounds going on.

Berly:

It seems like yeah, it seemed like there were multiple sound effects going on as he's like, put a Is that coming in? Yeah, I can hear. It sounded like flush slapping flush. It was an awkward moment. Something flapping up against something.

LA:

She didn't seem upset. No.

Berly:

I like rewound it and turned it up. We even closed our eyes. We rewind it and turn it up, close your eyes to try and figure out what the sound effect is.

LA:

It was weird. They go find Martin. think Sam was like what what could be like makes making Slurpees of brains and then making it look like they're committing suicide. Martin meant, I think he mentioned a couple of things. I can't remember what they are. And then he said wraiths. And so they think they've got a race on their hand. And they asked you know what, how do we get rid of it? What do we do? He tells them that they need silver silver will crackle their skin. But it's going to be hard to figure out who it is because they can pass as humans. The only way we could like they can see them in their true form is through them. Mirror. Next up, we see Dana standing in a corner staring in a mirror just posted up. And what he's, he's hunting. Oh, yeah. And Miss Cartwright shows up. And she is standing there, you know, like, what are you doing? And he tells her he's hunting. And he proceeds to tell her, you know, like, this is his job. He has to save everybody, you know, doesn't you know, it's the end of the world. And she tells him, that's a lot of weight and pressure to put on yourself. He mentions the wraith. And she was like, what about me? Cuz she's standing right next to him and the mirror and he looks up and he's like, you're good, because she looks like herself. But as they're standing there, Dr. Fuller walks by them. And Sam, not Sam. Dean glances up in the mirror and sees a wraith. So we're thinking, Dr. Fuller all alone?

Berly:

Yeah, no, that's actually whenever I went, Wait a minute. Oh, that's true. They're making it way too obvious from the beginning that it's him. And that's when I was like, it's her. I didn't think that earlier. I thought that now was like as her as Dr. CART, right. And then you pointed out no, because he checked her in the mirror already. And she was normal. And so then I was really confused. Yeah.

LA:

Well, and it was weird the way they did it, though, because I was like, well,

Berly:

maybe you're right, because they had long hair, the race and the mirror had long hair.

LA:

But that's so like, he was standing there. She was in the mirror. The doctor walked by and when it flashed to him looking in the mirror, she wasn't there. But we find out why she wasn't there later. Right. Yeah, you know, but at the time, I was like, maybe at that time we were real confused. Yeah. But so after he has this whole little situation, he meets up with Sam and Martin and Martin was or No, Sam found these little knives. Somewhere silver plated that are silver plated. Yeah. And so they decide. They got a split up search for Dr. Fuller. Of course, Martin's like nah, amount. Can't do anything. Sam actually sees him walking down a hallway and hides and waits for him. That guy comes around, and Sam slashes his forearm

Berly:

first, when Martin's walking away they go we know about all the querque and we were like hi, and we're gonna find out what happened. No.

LA:

No, wait, that's a mystery.

Berly:

Then Then they go. Just disappear to go find Dr. Fuller Yeah. Yeah, see? AvaTax?

LA:

I mean, what was Barton thinking? I was like, okay, good. Good to know. I'm still not going to help. You guys are still not gonna go. Albuquerque. But I want to know what happened. Well, we don't end up knowing as we've said, ever, but yeah, so Sam found Dr. Fuller in the hallway it slashes his forearm to I think a couple of security people come up and try to stop him from attacking Dr. Fuller, but he gets hit me and he fights them off. And then he's like, on top of Dr. Fuller ready to stab him like kill him. But luckily, Martin Martin didn't just take off and leave them high and dry. He stopped Sam and tells him No, it's not like it's not him. Look at his arm and his arm wasn't crackling or burning from being cut by the silver. So it's not Dr. Fuller. Oh, I forgot about Wendy.

Berly:

I was totally about to bring that up. You missed an important plot point. So important. It's super important

LA:

as they're exchanging the silver plated knives before that all of this happened. Wendy randomly walks up again. And just bypasses Dean and goes straight to Sam kisses him turns to Dean and tells him that she wants him now. He's larger. Yeah,

Berly:

it's important. What point right there it is. He's larger. And that was it. That was it. And then she just walked off again.

LA:

Yep. Dean goes to look for Sam and finds him now locked in his room. And he is feeling really good. Yeah. Dean asks if he they gave him something and seems like they gave me everything. He's feeling awesome. They're both starting to feel like maybe they're going a little crazy. And Sam says, I think er says he thinks that Dean's probably been a little half crazy for a long time now. He's very serious with him and tells him You know, but you're still my brother. And I still love you. And then he boots him on his nose. It was. It was interesting.

Berly:

It was adorable.

LA:

So Dean leaves drugged up Sam, when he kind of goes out looking on his own to try and see if he can find the wraith. But Miss Erica Cartwright stops him in the hallway and starts to question him again. And out of nowhere, she calls him Dean. Yeah, and then just start to lay into him. I can't remember what all she said. But it was just like basically all of Dean's insecurities and issues. She just lays into him. And he like is really taken aback and he's Like, how do you know that? What's going on? And he starts getting angry with her. And there's like an orderly there and he's like, Hey, dude, settle down, settle down. And he's like, What? Who is this ladies? And then when it flashes back to Dean, he's standing there in the hallway by himself, talking to no one. So we realize that she miss Cartwright is not real. And she's definitely not a race.

Berly:

I think she even tells him I'm not real. Yeah. I'm a figment of your imagination. Crazy cuckoo. He's

LA:

walking away. He's freaked out. And then he's looking at every mirror and sees a wraith in everybody. No. So he's booked. He's like, Well, yeah. Am I gonna do anything? If I'm seeing somebody that's not there? I'm seeing everybody has rates. It's not looking good. But we do see Sam, he, the doctor comes to see him and he does apologize to the doctor. And you know, he says it's not going to happen again. I think he said something about the monster and the doctors like the monster was like, least of your problems, like the anger I saw from you. When you attacked me? Will you look like a man possessed?

Berly:

I gotta say, it didn't seem very doctor patient tea. The conversation they had here. It seemed like the doctor was real. judgy being really judgmental and bitter towards Sam. It's okay. I get it. He attacked you in the hall. He scared the shit out of you. He cut your arm. But like you're supposed You're the doctor here was your patient. And it was just very judgmental. Yeah, yeah. It wasn't good. Yeah. Even if even if the assessment was valid, that he has anger issues. Because I mean, he's right. Sam didn't stop to check and see if the blood was crackling or whatever. Martin had to stop him. But still, Dr. Fuller was very professional. In this scene, in my opinion, I agree. And then threatening him that like if you have another outburst? We're going to send you to a facility that's equipped to handle violent patients. Dr. Fuller doesn't end up being the monster but I'm still not a fan.

LA:

Yeah, yeah. I'm with you. Yeah. Okay, so after this, he goes out to the common room again. I mean, who is it that starts bashing him?

Berly:

Is it Dean? Nobody? It's he just starts fighting and visible people. But he thinks there are other patients Yeah, he thinks there are other patients. And Dean is like sitting in the corner where Martin was when they first saw him. Right he's like, like catatonic Yeah, he's just got going what is happening? What is happening like he's freaked out still from his Cartwright stuff.

LA:

But Sam was thrown some punches out in the air to nothing and I thought it was going to end up that Dr. Fuller was gonna be like all right. You had literally are having another outbursts Yeah, we're sending me away.

Berly:

Well, I think that's what was happening because next time we see Sam he strapped up in in a padded room. I think they were getting ready to send him out.

LA:

After that, Dean since Sam's gone, Dean goes and comes up on Martin while he's sleeping. And Martin sleeping with his knife. Yeah, he is almost like ready to stab Dean because he's shocked the hell out of him Albuquerque Dean is like realizing like he's starting to go he's like maybe crazy is the clue. You know, it's it doesn't feed the the Wraith isn't feeding on the insane. It's making them insane. So it's believable once they finally like, off themselves that Oh, like they'd hit a breaking point. Right? And so he they're reading through ideas, and he's saying maybe the race pool is poisoning them somehow, like saliva touch different things. So he thinks it's windy. He like kind of gets that idea. Like, oh, saliva.

Berly:

Yeah, you and I both thought the same thing at the same time as him. We both went windy.

Unknown:

Well, she was just so random. Do like would have made sense

Berly:

that she wasn't trying to do anything with them. She was just grabbing them shoving her tongue in their mouth and then walking off. Yeah, so it made sense to think it was windy. We already had decided it wasn't Dr. Fuller because it was too obvious. And we already were like, oh, no, it's not Dr. Cartwright because she's not real. So yeah, when do you seem to the next logical step?

LA:

Yeah. I totally thought it was gonna be hearsay. But right away we we realize that does not know they run to a nice room. And lo and behold, Nurse Foreman is hovering over Wendy her wrists are slit. Yeah, and she's just got done. Later some bone thing coming project projects out of her Sparrow.

Berly:

It made me think of an X Men there's a there's a mutant character seemed marrow Oh, yeah, like pushes marrow and bones out of there. That's what it made me think of, because it was like brown and veiny almost super sure. Sharp and super sharp to a point Yeah. And she it came out of her wrist and was shoved through the skin at that tender part back there that near the back of the skull base of the skull. It was up in Windies head. Here's my question. I didn't see a hole in that thing. So how was that suckin? How was that slurping?

LA:

Oh, yeah, doesn't she like, lick it or something? before it goes back in

Berly:

was she was doing that she was also like, wiping the sweat off of Sam and like licking sweat. I was like, do my do my brain juices seep out through my sweat? Is that a science fact that I don't know. I thought sweat was just sodium.

LA:

I mean, yeah.

Berly:

That she was like wiping his forehead and like licking it off her fingers. Like it was yummy. And when she was talking about it, it's like pheromones made your brain to say things are like eliminating something for her. Maybe Maybe Sam just wears like yummy moisturizer. But anyway, back to Wendy.

LA:

Dean and nurse Foreman get in a fight. He does end up slicing her hand and it does start burning. Yeah, she takes off. They go over to windy to check on her. But she's actually still alive. Which she's still alive. But that's the slowest we see her.

Berly:

She survived. Yeah, no Albuquerque and no snowing of windy survived. Yeah,

LA:

yeah. And Martin. So Martin tells Dean like, go you gotta go get her go kill her now. And she goes into this nice padded room where they are keeping Sam and he is strapped down by his arms, legs.

Berly:

Helpless. Been there done that. Yeah. And of course, she

LA:

starts explaining how just by touching them in that exam. She was able to infect them and poison them to start them to thinking that they're going crazy.

Berly:

She was talking about how crazy brains taste the best.

LA:

Oh, that's when she was like looking. Yeah, looking as sweat and whatnot.

Berly:

And there was a mirror in there. So Sam saw that she was a wraith. And I kind of thought like, it's not a very big room. There are no, there's one door. Why did they need that mirror in there? What do you what do you need to see as come in?

LA:

Kids need to see himself strapped down?

Berly:

Do you just need to be able to watch yourself shoved out of the room? That's it? Oh,

LA:

no. Well, Oh, yes. She says that crazy breeds are delicious. I wonder why.

Berly:

She explained the dopamine and adrenaline. Oh, that's right. hormones and chemicals. She likes her chemical cocktail. She

LA:

does. And she she tells them that it wasn't even she didn't even do all of what all of the things that affected him. And that his own rage kind of built his own hell while he's been in there.

Berly:

Yeah, I think she said that she doesn't create the crazy she just didn't 10 suffice what's already there, right.

LA:

Dean stumbles in because he's still in a state.

Berly:

His vision is all kinds of messed up and everything at this point. I'm like Dean like his crazy started first like because he started hallucinating Dr. Cartwright, when Sam went to group therapy. Oh, yeah. So his started first. And it seems like his got way more intense and more quickly than Sam's. So when they left and Sam was like concerned and Dean wasn't I was like, if she doesn't create it, she just works with what's already there. One of you downward spiral the little more quickly than the other. Definitely.

LA:

Yeah. I mean, he's not even like walking straight. Can't even walk.

Berly:

Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I don't know why I laughed.

LA:

Well, he so he gets in another fight with Dr. Fuhrman. She's pretty tough. But she's got her little pointy marrowbone whatever it is coming out. She's a guide them up against the wall. And it's like lengthened this time. Yeah.

Berly:

Farther, Dean like, had her arm and was able to push her arm further away. And she's trying to go through the front of his skull this time. So as he's pushing her arm away, she like makes a face and her spiky thing grew.

LA:

It wasn't expecting that.

Berly:

I wasn't either. I wasn't expecting what happened next year. Yeah. So he grabs

LA:

a hold of it, and just cracks it breaks it. Yeah. And she

Berly:

squirted we decided we came to the conclusion it was not a splooge but like squirted blood. Yes.

LA:

Yeah. I mean, obviously hurt. It was like she was in pain. Like it was like

Berly:

post ejaculate like the little bit.

LA:

Not what I got from.

Berly:

It was like law, like just ruled out.

LA:

Yeah. Yeah. And then dean took her own little piece of bone, whatever the hell that is. And stabs her right in the heart and kills her.

Berly:

I thought Had he got a silver blade? It was her bone thingy. Oh, I

LA:

thought it was the bone.

Berly:

I looked away from the TV. I was doing something. Oh no, I'm

LA:

wondering. Yeah, I thought I thought because he had that he broke that off and then they start kept fighting and I thought he still had that in his hand and then stabbed her. But you may be right.

Berly:

When she got stabbed in the heart, right. She died. She died. That's the important part. Yeah,

LA:

but you're probably right. I guess this because a silver had to kill her. It's

Berly:

not that important. The important plot point here is Sam is larger. Scrubs.

LA:

Yes.

Berly:

Albuquerque. So many

LA:

things in this episode are just like left hanging.

Berly:

Pudding windy.

LA:

Well, Dean pulls himself to gather together enough to free Sam. I guess it was almost like a spell that was over them is gone. Now that she's dead. And they go running out. They bust out and run in and weigh in their little flip flops, sandals.

Berly:

And they aren't coming off. Like they were booking at full speed and slippers. I was like that takes talent. Those things would have been flying off my feet.

LA:

Oh, yeah. And I didn't have socks on with them, too. That's even more difficult. But yeah, so they take off. And once they're kind of near the car, getting ready to go. Sam tells Dean that he thinks the Wraith was right about him. That he's mad. He's pissed off all the time. He's so angry at everything. And Dean's like okay, yeah, great. Whatever. Bear that shit. Yeah. Stick it down. Deal with it. We we don't have time. You know?

Berly:

You swallow that shit. Yeah,

LA:

yeah, that's it's healthy. It's a healthy road. They're going down. I guess they didn't really learn anything from their time in the psychiatric ward. No, not at all. After that healthy conversation. Dean's like, Are you with me? Like, are we good? And Sam's like, Yeah, I'm with you. All right.

Berly:

It's actually a funny mirror. Because at the very beginning of the episode, Sam is trying to tell Dean, you can't just bury that stuff. Ellen and Joe's death, all these other things like you can't just bury it. And Dean was like, watch me. So by the end of the episode, you would think that Dean would realize, you know, you can't bury it and did it but instead, it's the opposite. That Dean's got Sam to where it's like yeah, we're just gonna bury. It was written by Andrew dabb and Daniel Loughlin, who also wrote, I believe that children are our future. And it was directed by James L. Conway, who also directed fallen idols and The Real Ghostbusters this season. Gore, the Wraith makeup was really good. Was like basically decomposing bodies is what it seemed like. Yeah, and of course, the spike. Yeah, fucking spike and the blood squirt that came out of the spike at the end.

LA:

Well, I guess the blood from when they the two ladies had their wrist. Yeah, yeah, that's really only bloody kind of

Berly:

the blood squirt from the marrow bone thing I thought was a nice touch. Yeah, yeah. I'm still interested how that thing? Like it wasn't hollow. Then if it's blood Skorton? Yeah. How was it sucking stuff? Very tiny opening. Very tip. And it was a very tiny opening through the thing. And then just a bunch of veins and stuff around it. I need to see the anatomy of a race place. What did you adore about this episode?

LA:

I liked Martin. I wouldn't mind seeing him again. I'd like to know what happened in Albuquerque. Yeah. Like I said, there's just seem to like a lot of loose ends. And this one,

Berly:

this wasn't one of this wasn't one of my favorites. No, it had potential. It wasn't one of my favorites. I'll say that. I did enjoy the twist that it was actually Dean's internal monologue occurring through conversations with him and Dr. Cartwright. Yes, yes, yes. And Sam's little notes, boop. There were a lot of shots captured by the director that I liked. It contributed to the feeling of not knowing what's real. And what I remember one particularly were Dean's like cowering in the corner, and getting a kind of a close up in on him and that feeling very frantic. And, you know, so a lot of interesting things like that that happened throughout the episode. But yeah, I mean, it wasn't bad. But this this definitely isn't going to be one of my favorites at the end of the season. No, Lord kind of sucks. Just so y'all know. I'm really setting myself up here.

LA:

Get excited.

Berly:

So first, from the supernatural wiki. I looked up the Wraith on there. And it says that in supernatural rates are a type of monster that feed on human brain fluids, and can infect them with high doses of dopamine. But I couldn't find anything outside of the supernatural wiki regarding this or a monster who does some like this, here's what I could find regarding rates. So originally, the word Wraith is a Scottish word for Ghost, apparition or spirit. It usually is used to refer to a rather unpleasant and or Grotesque Version of a human ghost. So that aligns with like the decaying bodies that we saw. But it wasn't a ghost. Right, right. In Scottish folklore, raves are some sort of undead beings that are believed to either be the soles of those, quote, on the verge of death, or those who recently died. wraiths can also be like an apparition that you see right before you die. That part kind of aligns to this episode because people were seeing the Wraith right before it killed them. The Wraith is often associated with an undead sorcerer or sorceress that failed to become healthy at their deathbed through certain unnatural methods. In other words, methods that do not follow the established laws of nature, most often trying to break and evade many of these laws through darker and more sinister ways. So things like necromancy time manipulation, oh, no, Patrick, are Irish. Which, what about him? He did time manipulation, extending lifespan, a patch, using potions and spells to bring someone back to life. Now, these are all considered reasons why a person would likely turn into a Wraith after their passing after the sorcerer or sorceress, epically failed to become healthy and alive again with their spells, potions and or magics. They die and come back to life, quote, unquote, but as a wraith. Perhaps it would be better to say that they don't come back to life. Rather their bodies die and an impression of the soul is left behind. Grotesque in a way, raves markedly depart from our idea of ghosts, they instead bear more resemblance to the Grim Reaper. They are seen in dark purple robes that are kind of ripped and carry large sites. raves can be very dangerous, even if they were good sorcerers and sorceresses. Once they are brought back to life, by their messed up potions and magics they become corrupted and evil. Thus, the rates loathing for every living human who still has a chance to make better decisions about their life, and subsequently, their afterlife. According to the lower rates due to their spiteful nature may hurt all humans they come across for even the pettiest of reasons. If a Wraith is powerful enough, they can possess humans, which maybe that's what was happening doesn't explain the spike thing. raids will make their home anywhere that's dark and sinister. Rarely, a Wraith will make their home in a dark basement. But if one has found its way into your basement, call a priest, bishop or saint or go down there with a Bible and a lot of friends. Once you're down there, gather in a circle and shout, dark interloper. Leave this holy house, God has found you leave or feel the wrath of Jesus and the Holy Ghost. Their light will repel you acolyte if evil, then cross yourself and you and your friends will be protected. The Wraith will be defeated. Like that's all it takes. No silver needed. Okay? But you should probably take a wooden cross with you to this lore is from mythical creature guides.com and lore thrill.com. We'll post the links on our Tumblr like we always do. If you want to read more. This lore made me think more of the ring wraiths from Lord of the Rings, you know, or those things in Harry Potter. What were they, you know? Oh, yeah. Oh, thanks. They came by on the back.

LA:

I know the name. Dammit. The mentors the mentor. Yes, yes. Yes, yes.

Berly:

I couldn't find anything with spike comes out. It's rest and sexier brand really?

LA:

Interesting.

Berly:

This was what I was able to find though.

LA:

They don't sound like they're fun.

Berly:

No, either version Supernaturals version or Scotland's version. I don't like either of them. I don't want I don't want to deal with either of them.

LA:

No, no, thanks. You quote to close it out is a little exchange we spoke about between nurse Foreman and Dean. And nurse Foreman says what are you boys doing in here?

Berly:

And Dean pulls down his pants and goes hey flops a stick around. Yeah.

Unknown:

Cheers. Cheers to that.
