Berly:I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series. I'm
LA:LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy. Hello Burly. On the last episode, it was called the song remains the same. The Angels send ants and Anna back in time to kill John and Mary Winchester before they convince them. Knowing that if Sam was never born, then Lucifer won't be able to use him as his vessel cast Yeltsin's Sam and Dean back to 1978. So they can stop Anna and the two brothers are reunited with their parents. Mary recognizes Dean as a hunter since he visited her in the past once before, but tries to keep the truth from John.
Berly:Something I thought about you know how we saw Anna, copy the shop owners voice to call John and convinced him to come to the shop. It made me think about in season four, the voicemail message. You remember, like we saw Dean leave this heartfelt voicemail message. And then when Sam got it, it was Dean's voice but not the same voicemail message. So it makes me think maybe it was the angels that did that? Because they can obviously copy people's voices pretty damn good. Now, I don't know how they had the power to replace his voicemail though. They knew his passcode they got in there and deleted the message and just recorded a new one.
LA:I guess so.
Berly:Well, today's episode is titled, My Bloody Valentine. It's the 14th episode of season five, and originally aired on February 11 2010. The episode opens up, we're in a small town. And Russel and Alice have just had their first date. They're kind of awkwardly trying to say goodnight to each other. They really enjoyed each other's company. So much so that Russell asks if they can get together again for their second date. And then he adds, I just really don't want to be alone for another Valentine's Day. And it's like, oh, I wouldn't run away, right? But Alice doesn't. She's like, I get it. I know what you mean. Then they kiss a little bit. And Alice stops and was like, Oh, I don't want you to think I'm that kind of person. He's like, Oh, no, I don't and they just start really going for it. Alice, at some point must have invited him inside. They decide to go upstairs and go straight to the kitchen to make out. Which I thought was weird. But once they do what they ended up doing, I guess the kitchen actually was appropriate. So they're making out and he respects her so much. He lets her know. What do you say like I respect the shit out of you?
LA:Or something like that? Yeah. Well, right now.
Berly:And then she bites him and immediately has blood all over her face. It's like, Oops, he I think I bet you. He's like, it's cool. Don't worry about it. It's fine. Let's keep going. So then he bites her and the sound effects.
Unknown:Ah, looks so gross.
Berly:There's a point where she takes a chunk out of them, and then like tears into it like it's jerky or something. It's hard to watch. And they're just smiling at each other. It was like what the fuck is happening. So they're just screaming and chomping into each other. And then as they slide down the fridge, you see like this fountain of blood squirt up as it cuts away to supernatural. Boom,
LA:boom, boom.
Berly:It was quite the intro. Next week cut to Sam he's in the kitchen. Check it out the scene of the crime with no gloves touches the bloody postcard hanging on the fridge. As our Winchester boys are want to do. And they're talking to or not they it's just Sam. Sam is talking to Alice's roommate. I think she said when she found the bodies that she was pretty sure Alice was dead. But Russel was mostly dead and yet he was like still chewing. She's explaining that Alice was a nice girl who didn't drink didn't swear. She was a virgin. She believed in waiting until marriage and that this was just really unlike her. But Alice hadn't had a date and months. And she was so excited for the state. And Sam was like, Yeah, clearly they were both really excited when he gets back to the motel and tells Dean like, oh, no, there was no EMF. Nothing, no signs of ghosts, no signs of possession. I'm at a loss. I don't know what's going on here. Dean explains that he had gone to the coroner's office, and he saw the bodies and he said that their stomachs were full like they ate it. until they literally could not eat any more was just
Unknown:that their bodies looked awful. I can't imagine
Berly:like chunks of each other because like think you ate that much till you were thinking, I think it was Thanksgiving dinner full is what he said. So how much how many bites out of a person would you need to take to get that full? And so what would that body look like afterwards? Oh, oh. And then there's says me thinking like how hard would I have to bite to bite off a chunk of a person? And then I'm just like, I don't like thinking that.
Unknown:Oh, it was probably a lot of work.
Berly:I would think your jaw. Jaw would hurt like. Ah, so yeah, I was just like, Yeah, okay. I don't know what the fuck is going on, man. But that's cool. I'll do some more research. Talk to you later. And Dean's kind of confused. Like, what are you talking about opening a beer? Sam points out. It's Valentine's Day. It's your favorite holiday of the year.
LA:What do you say? unattached drift or Christmas?
Berly:Yeah. Lassie. And Dean says, I'm not feeling that this year. Sam's really confused. He's like, you don't want to go to a bar where there's going to be a bunch of lonely desperate chicks. Which Nice. Real nice. Nice. Just like no, I don't want to. And Sam says it's when a dog doesn't eat that there's room for cancer. I love it. Dean said. Thanks for the remarkably patronizing concern, Sam. Cool. Next week cut to an office and there's these two dudes. They're working late. One of them's a project lead and wants to do really well and impress their bosses on everything. And the other one is just like texting away on his phone. So the project lead guy starts giving him shit. There's like you let you met this chick a week ago. And you can't put down your phone to help, like, get this done and do well. Like you're whipped. He was even doing it. Which, which? Oh, yeah. Really. He was really proud of himself for making that noise. He thought it was it. He thought he was being real clever. Then the chick walks in. And she is just like, has been sobbing like makeup running
LA:running. Yeah, she looks like
Berly:she thought she was all dressed up based off the conversation. I don't know that they were supposed to have a date. It seems like this was just Soap Opera Drama, just because she's just like, What are you doing, Jim? And the guy gets up to say no, I'm so sorry. He was like running over to her. So then the project lead guy goes, which again, and she just straight up, pulls out a gun out of nowhere and shoots him in the chest and his chair and him go flying back. They're just dramatically looking at each other and like, something's always going to keep us apart. Work. Family, sleep.
LA:I like that. I liked it. She acknowledged she just murdered somebody too. She's like prison, maybe.
Berly:I mean, they played it. So dramatically over the they they nailed it. I thought they they made this scene really entertaining. And then the gym guy I think his name is Jim recommends like, okay, there's only one way that we could be together forever. And so she puts the gun up under her chin and we cut to an exterior shot. And we hear the gunshot and see the flash through a window. It goes off twice. So they kill themselves so that they can be forever together. A lot of Romeo and Juliet.
LA:I don't think that's how it works. Just say
Berly:we got to Sam and Dean going to the hospital to check out these new bodies. And as they're walking through the hall, this was really weird scene. We understand what was happening later. But at the time, we both thought we missed something rewound it watched it again, just didn't know what was happening at the time. So Sam and Dean are walking down the hallway and this other guy's walking in the opposite direction. And he's got on a black suit, black tie, and he's carrying a briefcase. Sam is just looking at him really weird and it kind of goes slow mo and you hear like this heartbeat thing going and Sam follows him with his eyes like staring at them as he passes them in the hall. Then they're just walking normally.
LA:Because like Sam was Ryland.
Berly:What was that? Literally rewound it thinking, was there a symbol on him? Like, what what are we looking for? What is it that's making this guy stand out? And there was nothing. But again, we find out later what that was about. But at the time, we were both really confused as to what the hell happened in that scene. They go into the coroner's office, and I gotta say, I love this corner.
LA:Oh, yeah, he was he was funny.
Berly:He was really cute. I even loved it whenever you like put on his hat before he went to leave. He was really nice to the guys and was just like, Yeah, you know, check it out. I've got all the organs already Tupperware too though. They're already they're already in the fridge. So make sure before you leave, refrigerate everything. Don't leave anything out on the counter counter boys. And he just takes off and leaves them to it. They take out the organs from the fridge and they are looking at two of the hearts and they have on aprons. and gloves. So we're already moving in the right direction here. Good job, fellas. Sam notices that there's a symbol on the two hearts. As he's looking at it. He's like, I don't know. It looks like maybe it's a letter or something. And then he goes, I think it's a Nokian. So who who you're going to call cast? Dean picks up the phone calls Cass tells them where they are. And before he even finishes his sentence, he runs almost face first into Castile. Who is now in the in the coroner's office, or morgue? I guess they're in the morgue. with them. It was really funny. He was just like, I'm here now. Do you just like yeah, I couldn't I can see that.
LA:It was cute though.
Berly:It was cute.
LA:castling I'm gonna hang up now. Yeah, okay.
Berly:But they still just sit there for a second on their phones. Look at it each other Castiel confirms Yes, this is a no can. He says that both the couples so the couples that ate each other and then the couple with the gun were marked by Cupid. I think you said like, oh, yeah, Cupid's are lower rank Angel. They're cherubs. And there you have third class. That's what it was. And dingoes the chubby guys who run around with diapers and Castile because they're not in content. So the plan is okay, we've got to go catch the cupid before he kills again. They go to a restaurant that is all decked out in Valentine's decorations and they are on the hunt. Sam and Dean order meals cast doesn't order anything per usual he doesn't eat. What kind of signal something else is going on here is that Dean orders his normal bacon cheeseburger, and he's scored and ketchup on it. And Cassie yells like staring at his burger while he's doing this. And then dean decides he's not hungry. So Sam, again is saying what's going on with you like you're not hungry. Dane is getting a little defensive. But Cass reaches over it was like so you're not going to eat that and like takes his whole plate. But before Cass can chow down, he sees the cubed. We can't see anything because we're lowly plumbing on sticks. What is it plumbing on legs. So we were sweating meat suits, so we can't see Cupid but we see that there's a breeze. And then this couple starts making out and cast is like I got him meet me in the back and he disappears. Sam and Dean follow him to the back. And when they get back there, Cass has his hand out all lost Sam Winchester, he's like I got him tethered. Then he says something in a Nokian. And then in English, he goes like reveal yourself or something like that. Which Why did he have to say that in English? He just wanted the Winchesters to know what he said. Maybe you translate translated on their behalf
LA:awkward. They're like, What the fuck is he saying?
Berly:Yeah, so he was like, let me say it in English real quick so that they know what's going on. Let me clear it up for these boys because well then, naked Sean asked and Cupid appears and I loved him. He was so so cute. He fears behind Dean and just immediately grabs Dean and picks him up off the ground and is swinging him around and just like that he puts Dean down and he runs over to Cassiel and hugs him and his swinging him around. Then he spins around and he's like, ooh, Hey, big guy. Sam tries to turn around and go the other way. But then Cupid's right there and grabs him and picks him up and hugs him. And Cass explains this is like Cupid's handshake. Yeah, Dean says, do they know what we don't like it and cascos? Nobody likes it. So here's my question. Why is this angel naked? Why aren't all angels naked? Right? Only Cupid's are naked, I guess. Yeah. So to be determined. The end up interrogating Cupid asking him why he's making these couples kill each other and cute gets very upset. He is devastated to hear that these people are killing each other that they were destined to be they were supposed to meet and then we find out that heaven actually set up John and Mary Winchester that it was a huge massive priority. Sam and Dean had to be born. Apparently John and Mary hated each other when they first met, but then Cupid's intervened. And they became the perfect couple. No deeds. So you set up my parents and keep us like online. Not me. But heaven. Yeah, yeah, we did. We set up your parents and he's really proud of himself. Dean does not like this. He's like they're dead. So Dean is angry Cupid is sad. And then dean punches keep it in the face and hurts his feelings. So he disappears. And I love that we have the continuity of like the clean and hurting DNS Han. Every time he tries to punch a Angel, learn your lesson. He just gets so angry. So it's not the cupid doing this. So they're back to square one. Sam tries to confront Dean like what the fuck is going on with you? Calm down, like something's off. Are we going to talk about it? And he's just like, No, no, we're not. And he storms out. The adorable coroner call Sam and it's like, hey, You wanted me to let you know if there were any other strange deaths that happened and we got another strange one. So Sam goes to the morgue, and gets to hear all about Mr. Lester Finch, who had had weight loss surgery and had lost a significant amount of weight. I think the coroner said he was over 400 pounds and this was an average sized man at this point. And apparently the night before he went on a Twinkie binge. He ate Twinkies until his band first, and then he ate Twinkies until his stomach burst. And then whenever he literally couldn't swallow anymore, he used a toilet brush to shove more Twinkies down his throat.
LA:It's gross on a lot of levels. There's
Berly:so many levels. So disgusting. Like I thought he was gonna say a spoon or something. But he said toilet brush and his stomach the way it was protruding just like oh, Sam's like, what do you make out of this in the corner is just like fucking weird, man. That's what I make out of it. That's why I called you. Oh, and it is important that while he's saying this to Sam, he does randomly pull a flask out of his jacket and take a swig. I thought at first, it was just like he was just getting stressed out because of all these weird depths that kept coming through. But that does end up being important. Later on. Sam goes outside, and he's calling Dean to tell him, Okay, we've got this other weird death. This wasn't a cubed guy. And Dean says that he went through police reports and found out that there had been eight other suicides and 19 overdoses just in the last few days, which is way above normal. So it's not just about love, something else is going on here. As they're talking, Sam starts to get a headache and like, puts his fingers to his head. And I was like, Oh, he's gonna have a vision. Because we haven't seen him have a vision since what season two? Yeah, totally thought like, Oh, my God, he's randomly going to have a vision, like that's going to come back. Now. Why would that come back now. But that's not what happened. The guy who was walking down the hall earlier that they made such a big deal out of us noticing, comes walking out of the corners, more building thing. And so Sam turns around and sees him. He's like, I gotta go, Dean. He runs over after the guy attacks them in the alleyway and says, I know what you are. I could smell you. So I was like, Okay, so he's not having his visions anymore. But now he can smell demons. When did that superpower come along? Is it just because of what was going on in the town? I guess?
LA:Oh, yeah. Maybe? Yeah. Cuz it hasn't been brought up any other
Berly:time. Yeah. So I guess this is just because of what was happening with everything that we're we're gonna get to. He like nix the demons face with the Demon Blade and it sizzles. And then the demon goes, Winchester. And for some reason, this really confuses Sam. He has to really take a step back and think about his last name. I still don't know what was happening here. Maybe he just was realizing he was craving the demon blood so badly. And he was like, what is happening? But I don't know what it was about hearing his last name that made him do that. Yeah. And then the demon like turns, and Sam cuts his arm. The demon gets away. And then Sam looks at the Demon Blade. And for a second, I was like, oh my god, it's haunted. Because there were these eyes in the blade looking back at him. La was like, no, like, he's looking at the blood on the knife. And we're like, it's a reflection of like, Oh, whoops. So the blade is not haunted. It's just super reflective in this dark alley for some reason. I mean, it could
LA:have been haunted objects, right? He didn't ever know.
Berly:But no, he was just staring at the blood. Because he wants it is coming back. He wants it real bad. When the demon ran away, he dropped the briefcase. So Sam picked it up, takes it back to the motel, and him and Dean pop the locks. And this bright light is shining, like Pulp Fiction. Shining, but it was more white, not gold. Like what the fuck is this? And suddenly Cassiel appears behind them just like it's a human soul as he bites into a cheeseburger. Cassiel explains as he's doing that it's famine. That's Coven taken over this town that it's hunger. And Sam was like, wait a minute, I thought that that was like hunger for food and casts like well, I mean, obviously it can be look at me sitting here wolfing down cheeseburgers, but everybody's hungry for something. And it's not necessarily food. It can be love. It can be sex, it can be attention, money, power. yatta yatta yatta yatta yatta. Dean asks, Cass Why the fuck he would suddenly be hungry for burgers and cast says well, it's not me. It's my vessel. That craving is so strong that it's affecting Cassiel which is kind of scary. CASS says and then we'll come famine riding on it black steed. He will ride into the land of plenty and great will be the Horseman's hunger for heat is hunger, his hunger will seep out and poison the air. And as he's speaking, it's kind of a voiceover we see this like black Escalade pull up in front of us Bickersons which is a restaurant that we've heard in the supernatural world before, I guess it's the quintessential like American binge eating, all you can eat Yeah, kind of thing. Then we see a demon and all the demons are dressed like men and black in this episode, I guess that famine requires his demon minions to have a uniform. And they pull this frail, elderly man out of the Escalade and put him in a wheelchair. And then he takes the controllers and they put on his oxygen. And he rolls into the bigger sins, and people just start going frantic in the bigger sense. They are just like, binge eating fucking in a corner. One of the waitresses is stealing cash from the register and shoving it down her shirt. Like one guy goes and sticks his hands in the fryer, and the makeup on the hands whenever he pulled them out of the fryer with all the fries, and it just started chewing. This was a hard show to watch. There are a lot of scenes in this episode that I had difficulty watching. But damn like it was done. Well, I think the point was to make you uncomfortable. And they did it. It was just a lot going on. Famine in his wheelchair is just pleased as punch with what's going on in this bigger since
LA:he needed a toothbrush real bad. Yeah,
Berly:I think he needed a dental cleaning. Yeah. And like it Cassiel also explains that Lucifer had sent demons to deliver famine, the souls of those hated infected so that he could eat them. So that's what that demon was doing going and harvesting souls from people who had died due to the effects of famine. So then they realized, okay, so the soul in the suitcase was probably 20. Guys, back in the restaurant, there are corpses all over the bodies. No. flies all over the bodies. Because I guess all these people have eaten fucked and stolen themselves to death. I don't know why there's so many flies there so quickly, because I don't I didn't get the feeling that days had passed. So I'm not really sure what's going on there. Famine is awaiting a delivery from the demon who escaped Sam Winchester. He shows up and it's just like, I'm so sorry. Sam Winchester found me. And he stole this briefcase from me. So I don't have it. But I did manage to get this and so he has Sam's motel room key. And if I was just like, okay, cool, but I really wanted that cream cake soul. And I'm still hungry. And the Dame was like, I know, I know. I'll go get another one for you. No problem. Famous like no, I'm hungry now. And he sucks the demon out of the vessel and eats him eats the black smoke like sucks at all in and then he's like, delicious. You know, he might have wanted the cream cake guy, but apparently that demon hit the spot. Back at the hotel. Sam Dean and Cass are still talking trying to figure out okay, what can we do to stop famine? So Casio says, Well, what would y'all do to defeat war? What happened there? They said, Well, I mean, we cut off his finger and he left hasn't been a problem since like that was that. We took his ring. We think all his power was in his ring. So to disband and have a ring cast is like, Oh, I know he does. Well, if you knew he had a ring and you know that's where his power is. Why are you having to ask how they defeated war, right? Wow. Well, this entire conversation Sam is in the bathroom, putting cold water on a washcloth blotting it against his neck, blotting it against his face. Dean and Cass yell come up with the plan of Okay, so we just need to go get the ring from famine. That'll be that easy peasy lemon squeezy. Let's see. I was just like, I can't go with you. He got me like I'm I'm infected with famine. Dean's like, Oh, no. Like, what do you want? It seems like you know what I want? Dean goes demon blood. It seems like yeah, I'm hungry for it. I want it real bad. So Dean says, okay, Cass, get Sam out of here, like teleport him out of here. Take them to Timbuktu or wherever. Get him out of here. And Cass is like Sorry. Like, it's not going to help like He's infected already. The hunger will just go with him. So Sam says okay, then you gotta you gotta lock me down. Go cut that bastards finger off. Get that ring. But y'all gotta lock me down, lock me down. Good. So they handcuffed Sam to the plumbing of the sink in the bathroom, then casts one hand just slides and are more in front of the Clovis door to lock up Sam. They go back to the hospital to see if you know anybody else has come in. And unfortunately, they find out that the coroner has passed away that he's been sober for over 20 years and drank himself to death the night before. Clearly this is somebody else who fell victim to famine. So they think okay, this is going to be our best shot following the soul back to famine. So while they're hanging out waiting for a demon to come home is the soul cast is challenged down on more burgers? What did he say? He lost count, but it's in the low hundreds. Yeah. And he asks Dean, you know, why are you not affected by famine? I don't get it. And Dean essentially says, you know, I, when I want something, I do it, or I get it. I don't deprive myself of anything. As they're having this conversation. They see a black demon car with demons in black show up, and they go in and come out with a suitcase. So they're like, yeah, they follow them back to the bigger sins. In the meantime, Sam is really struggling back at the motel. I mean, he's getting to where he is trying to get free to get out of there. And then he hears noises out in the motel room. And at first he's going guys, like, I don't think it worked. So he's thinking they've already cut the finger off and got the ring, but he's still suffering. So he's kind of freaking out starting to panic. It didn't work. I'm still sick. This isn't good. And then the door flies open, and it's to men and black demons. And they're just like, Hey, Sam, like we can't kill you. But no one said we couldn't hurt a few parts or something, something where they're trying to be intimidating and taunting Sam just because one of the demons goes and rips apart the cuffs on Sam. And Sam immediately knocks the guy across the bathroom into like the shower, I think and tackles the other demon into the glass coffee table, grabs a shard of the glass slits at her throat and start sucking on her neck. And she just starts yelling get him off, get them off. Her partner comes out of the bathroom is like I'll get them off and Sam throws them up against the wall and says wait your turn with blood all over his face. Back at the bigger sins. Dean and Castiel have made a plan that Cass is going to pop it in there teleport in there real quick. Cut the finger get the ring and pop right back out and give Dean the ring. Castile seems very preoccupied with his burgers. So whenever he recounts the plan, it just disappears. Dean does not have a lot of faith and how things are going already. Yeah, this is correct. So when it takes longer than a minute for cast to come back, Dean automatically is like okay, this is taking too long and goes into the bigger sins. He sees the bodies strewn about. The lights have all been shut off for some reason. Not all the power has been cut because the fryer is still going strong. And there's a body bent over with their head and shoulders in the fryer. Poor person. I know. Dean is stalking through the pack going through the kitchen, trying to figure out what's going on. And then he sees cast yell in the dining area, hunched over a tray of raw red meat and just go into town. The
LA:job cast
Berly:way to go buddy. Just chowing down. And the Demon Blade is just on the floor. Like he just dropped it and just went straight for the red page of fuck anymore. Yeah, could not resist man. At that time, Dean is just like what the fuck cast tried to get his attention. But then the demon men and black come out of nowhere and grab Dean and drag him out before famine. Famine says you know you sick your dog on me. But so I threw him a steak. I thought that was clever. Yeah, like that line. famines, just bragging about how Americans like all we do is consume and like, we get infected so easily bragging about his conquering of this area. And Dean points out Yeah, but I'm not affected. And at first, he's real proud and real cocky about it. And then famine kind of rolls up to him. And he's like, Yeah, I noticed that. And he puts his hand on Dean. He goes, Oh, yeah, that's a real big, nice thing and nothing you got going on there.
LA:This was really sad.
Berly:It was really sad.
LA:He's sad for Dean.
Berly:He said you have a hole no matter how much you drink. How much you fuck how much you eat. You can't fill it. It was really sad.
LA:He's like, already dead inside. Yeah.
Berly:Which I mean, he's been to hell. So I mean, cut the guy a break. Right? Right. Whenever Dean's been hit so low that he can't even come up with a witty comeback. Sam shows up. They still got blood all over his face and everything. He's just like, yeah, let him go.
LA:You didn't have a moment. You could just wash your face off there, buddy. Priorities
Berly:LA. Priorities.
LA:Yeah. Okay.
Berly:He just sucked the blood out of two bodies. And then he had to hit it. Okay, okay. Get him off. Get him off. Somebody needs to
LA:sure he doesn't have a problem.
Berly:Dean is freaked the fuck out at Sam. He can tell he's all hopped up on demon blood and he's just like, Oh God, this guy again. Jesus man. No, not this again. The demons start to move forward towards Sam and families like Don't you dare don't you I hurt a hair on this sweet little boy's head. And he is so happy. But Sam is there he just like, did you enjoy the snacks I sent you? You are the exception that proves the rule. You were everything Lucifer wanted you to be. You're not like everybody else. You're not ever going to die from drinking too much demon blood, which I was just like, Whoa, I didn't know that was a thing. And then he said, speaking of all these little minions around me right here have at it. And Sam says, No, I'm going to resist you now that I'm high on demon blood. And I am going to exercise these demons. So he puts his hand out. And he exercises what was it was like five or six of them, right? Yeah, I think so. A lot of guys, and he does it all at once. takes a really long time. But he does make it happen. Like I was like that could have been a few seconds shorter. Well,
LA:doing so many things at once. Yes, yeah.
Berly:And dangerous, again, is still horrified by what is going on around him. He is not enjoying this at all. His rescue, not a fan at the moment. And then famine goes well, if you don't want them, I will. And he like opens his mouth and sucks and sucks in all of the demons. He just eats them all. Then Sam like puts down his hand to use his powers on famine and famine goes fuck off. Like I'm a horseman, your shits not going to work on me. As Sam goes, know, that it'll work on them. He tightens His fist, and blood comes out of his nose. And I'm not sure what happened. But all of the demons explode out of famine. And I thought famine exploded. But we rewound and it doesn't look like it. It's really hard to see because of all the black smoke, but it looks like he just goes limp in the wheelchair. I guess it just took a lot out of him. And I guess at that point, they were able to just go steal his ring. Yeah. Because then I didn't just slide it right off of him. Maybe it was like a thinner. And whenever all everything got sucked out of them all the demons he has been eating got sucked out of him maybe just lit off. Yeah, I don't know. But anyway, after this happens after the black smoke explodes out of famine, we know that the problem is solved because Cass immediately snaps out of his red meat frenzy that he was having over in the corner. So he was disgusting. He just like stopped looked around like Oh, whoops. So that's how we knew like everything was fine. But they didn't. They didn't get the right like
LA:that's why they didn't show it but I assume we're
Berly:gonna assume Yeah, what did the thinner thing like they he was already, like, frail and thin. So whenever he had all that stuff sucked out of him the ring fell off. That's what we're deciding. Okay, okay. Okay. So that's what happened. So they just have to pick up the ring at this point. After they're done all staring at each other in shock, just in shock over what the hell happened. And I can't blame them because, yeah, I would have been like what the fuck just happened to we cut to Bobby's, we're at the panic room, Sam's locked inside and he's yelling. He's asking Dean and Castiel. He's begging them both to help him and Cass is trying to console Dean. Just reminding him like that's not your brother in there. We just have to get through this. Just let it get out of his system again, and we'll have Sammy back. And Dean is just like, Yeah, I know. Okay, I know, but I need a second. And he goes outside. I thought he was about to waste that bottle of alcohol that was like full. It looked like he was going to but then he thought Yeah, yeah, let's not waste it. I thought he was gonna smash and I was like, don't you throw a full bottle of whiskey for no damn reason. Bobby's gonna come get you boy, what's no wasteful. Instead, he is looking up to the skies, asking like please, I need help, which was just broke my heart and so sad. I teared up a little bit. This was written by Ben Edlund, who has written some of our favorites like season two night shifter, season three ghost phasers, Season Four monster movie, so you smile it over there. Love it. And season five just a few episodes ago. Abandon all hope it was also directed by Mike roll who's done a few really good ones as well like season two, the usual suspects and Folsom Prison Blues Season Three bedtime stories. LA:Well, I liked Cass and his burgers. I thought that was cute until he started eating the raw meat.

Berly:I thought he was cute. I enjoyed the Cupid and I also enjoyed a little bit of character development for cast, like knowing that Jimmy is still in there. And it was nice to have another horseman it's been a while. Yeah, I mean, that was the second episode of the season. I think that where we had war, and we haven't had really anything except for we know death is out. But we haven't seen him. So I was happy to get another horseman. Yeah. And he played that part. Well, it was great. He did the way he would do his voice in certain ways. I mean, he made himself as just eerie as possible. Speaking of horsemen, take us into lore. So
LA:the four horsemen of the apocalypse are considered common in this day and age. They're seen as the harbingers of the end of days. Sometimes they are represented as evil creatures or demons sent to destroy the Earth. Sometimes they are just seen as mythical creatures symbolic of the end of times, but what do they really symbolize? Let me tell you, the four horsemen of the apocalypse are found in Revelation six. But before that, we got to start in Revelation five, obviously. But of course, let's go in order. John, the apostle sees a squirrel in the hands of God, the Father who is sitting on the throne, the scroll is sealed with the seven seals, then we see an angel proclaiming who is worthy to open the scroll and to lose its seals. There's no one in heaven on earth or under the earth who was able to open the scrolls or even look at it. The only one who was able to do this was Jesus Christ, the lion of the tribe of Judah. The Root of David. Never heard those. The

LA:know. All right, well, no, in this chapter. Back back to these horsemen. This chapter shows us that the four horsemen of the apocalypse who will be released in the next chapter are being sent by God to do His will. They aren't symbolic creatures or demonic in nature. They come from God. This is how revelation six starts. It's the beginning of the Tribulation leading up to Christ's Second Coming. Release

LA:All right, Revelation 656. When he opened to the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, Come and see. So I looked, and behold a black horse and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, a quart of wheat for a denarius is that he said, Yeah, sure, sure. And three quarts of barley for a denarius and do no harm the oil and the wine. Who's this horseman? You say? Well, let me tell you. This Horseman is referred to as famine because of the scales that he holds these balances or weighing scales or what would have been used to weigh bread during a famine. This famine is likely in response to the war that took place during the second Horseman's ride. His significance is that the third Horseman is seen to be riding a black horse and his black horse can symbolize financial oppression, economic hardship, mourning and scarcity and illness associated with famine. In today's culture, these kinds of skills are not common to us, but they were used to weigh items back in the day. The scale symbolizes an international symbol for justice, it is supposed to depict equality of all before the law. Both of these elements are presented with a third horseman. During times of plenty bread is usually sold by the loaf without much concern over its exact weight. But during the time of famine, the scales are used to measure the exact amount of barley and wheat. Similarly, when a famine hits, everyone suffers, and the Vs famine is not given an explicit purpose. Instead, he is the only horseman who arrival comes with a declaration. This voice that is heard is similar to how a merchant shouts his prices at the marketplace for all to hear. In this case, because of famine, the prices are highly inflated. The wheat is three times as expensive as the barley a quarter Wheat, the amount needed for a day was sold for a denarius. a denarius is equal to A workers daily wage. Right? They haven't has given an extra instruction. Along with that declaration, he is instructed not to harm the oil and wine. There are different interpretations of this command. Some say that God puts this command in place so that famines spread will have an end. If there is a drought, the roots of wheat and barley will dry up long before the roots of the oil and why it is said to be a reminder that famine isn't permanent or completely widespread. Another interpretation of this command is that oil and wine are considered commodities of the rich, and though the price of wheat and barley increased exponentially, the prices of oil and wine would remain the same. This is because the poor or even middle class would only have enough funds to get their basic necessities like wheat and barley, not luxury items like oil and wine. It's supposed to symbolize class in any quality even during times of struggle down just real depressing.
Berly:Yeah, just like the episode, we're gonna be a downer. Way uncomfortable. Yikes. Well, quote to close it out, is when Dean and Castiel are in the car. And Dean has been questioned about why he's the only one in town, unaffected by famine. Dean said, hey, when I want to drink a drink when I want sex, I go get it. Same goes for a sandwich or a fight.
